If anything, it sounds libertarian. Only on Pcom is discrimination an American value.

These bastards aren't worth the attention; the Patriot Guard does a good job in dealing with them. I feel sorry for these losers because their lives are so unhappy and meaningless, they take joy in the misery of others. Perhaps people should hand out free condoms at their next demonstration and encourage them not to breed. -

I wasn't born yet. I remember reading about it but the thing I thought that was interesting was Whitman had a brain tumor which may have contributed to the horrific act. I wonder if there are other issues with James Holmes, since there was no history of violence.

The church member was an off duty police officer who was trained how to use a firearm. Churches are well lit opposed to a darkened movie theater where the attacker used smoke bombs. Don't you think a bunch of untrained and armed people in a situation like this would be disastrous?

The members of the Westboro Baptist Church should be sterilized to prevent the breeding of more moronic lunatics. -
I think one of the biggest threats to individual liberty is 24 hour cable news, especially in a time of tragedy. In order to fill their time, cable news will take the biggest news story and cover it to excess. This makes people more paranoid and afraid, creating the illusion that we should be afraid, despite the fact gun violence has decreased. The pro-gun lobby creates the reality that gun rights are being taken away when they're not. By keeping people fearful, the media contributes to society being more willing to abandon civil liberties in the name of safety. The exploitation of tragedy for

So you're telling me this tragedy happened because we took God out of public school, protect the rights of the accused, and to behave in a manner better than criminals? You really think this guy isn't mentally ill? There were no signs this guy was crazy and he was highly intelligent. I know people are looking for explanations to grasp why this tragedy happened but there may never be an explanation for what happened. It really disturbs me you think that this happened because we took God out of public schools, when it never existed in the first place. When people say this tragedy happened becaus

The same thing happened after 9/11 and the tragedy was used to whittle down civil liberties. However, better tracking of gun and ammunition purchases may be helpful. James Holmes purchased military type equipment. My question is, should civilians be able to purchase weapons that are beyond the scope of protection or hunting. Is it necessary for civilians to purchase extended ammunition clips? I agree that we shouldn't give up individual liberties in exchange for safety but their needs to be some common sense measures taken. We can't prevent crazy people from snapping but perhaps we can limit t

Nobody deserves to be victims of such an unspeakable tragedy. As Rhonda W. stated "a nut is a nut" and he was an evil genius. Sometimes, people are f**ked up and we don't know why.

I have made a pledge of fidelity to my spouse of the other sex and I will hold you door open, and treat you with the utmost respect as well. My problem with someone like Dan Cathy is he's donating money to political organizations which discriminate against gays, by not allowing them to marry. Up until the late 1960's interracial marriage was illegal in certain states. To me this is a civil rights issue and someone like Dan Cathy, who has unlimited funds to affect the civil rights of others. The church has every right to deny gays the right to marry but in my opinion, the state does not. The 14 -

You can read your book of fairy tales and go to your Sunday dog and pony show where denying citizens their civil rights is acceptable. However, once you step out of the confines of church, stay out of the bedrooms of consenting adults and stop trying to legislate religious morality. Religious institutions have the right not to recognize gay marriage, but the government should not. If the crackpot from Chick-Fil-A donates money to deny the civil rights of gays, he is indeed a bigot and worse, is lobbying the government to deny those civil rights. -
I'm not sure what is the answer to a tragedy like this. Can people really plan to protect themselves from a sick bastard intent on killing large numbers of people? Should civilians really have access to semiautomatic or automatic weapons? Why would an average person purchase a bulletproof vest and smoke bombs? Should people outside of law enforcement be allowed to have ammunition clips beyond a reasonable limit, more than self-defense? If people were armed, would it have been helpful with a smoke bomb going off, amid mass-hysteria? How many of the people packing actually would have the trainin
