    I have to admit I got pissed when Pauldnig's finest nabbed me for speeding in one of those speed traps but they're just doing their job and they are for the most part decent people. I'm sure by now, people have seen the video of the NYPD officer buying the homeless man shoes and socks. After seeing that, I could truly say this man is one of New York's finest.

    It's a great tourist attraction and a great getaway for average long Islander's who can't afford to live there.

    Fire Island also provides a barrier between the Atlantic Ocean and the Great South Bay. The Great South Bay is known for shellfishing, which thrives on brackish water, without Fire Island, the salinity of the water changes and will destroy the fish. There are still people living on L.I. who make a living shellfishing.
