    How about being as honest as possible, depending on the age of the students. This can be a teachable moment and schools and teachers don't have to have all the answers. It's o.k. to tell students we as adults are freaked out by this as well.

    Keeping people in a long-term or possibly lifetime psychiatric facility is costly. However, we have learned the death of 20 6-7 year old's is far more costly. If anything comes out of this tragedy, maybe it will be more awareness and better mental health care.

    As an atheist, I don't believe in any religion. However, whatever the President needs to say to these people to provide a small measure of comfort during a time of horrific tragedy is o.k. with me.

    I wonder if this is what Mary Lanza went through. If so, it is probably the reason she was divorced from her husband. It's sad there's no help for people in this situation. Perhaps our nation needs to examine how it treats mental illness.

    Clearly the young man had mental problems. Which begs the question: Why did his mother have 2 semiautomatic handguns in her home with a child who was mentally ill?     The person who is suffering with the illness should decide. If we can put pets down when they are suffering, we should extend the same compassion to humans. Kevorkian should be exonerated.
