The true nature of what I'm trying to do? I'm not anti-gun and even considered getting one and still might. However, I would take a gun safety course and learn how to properly use my weapon. I believe people have a right to hunt and defend their property. However, with the latest mass shootings, these people were mentally ill and had no business being near a gun. Other countries have a large number of gun owners and far less deaths; taking a look at what they do wouldn't hurt, would it? Nobody is looking to take guns away but the idea of better background checks, safety courses, or limiting the number of rounds in ammunition clip seem like common sense measures to stop preventable tragedies. We will never stop gun violence, but perhaps a background check may turn up someone who is schizophrenic and they are prevented from buying a Bushmaster. Perhaps we may be able to limit incidents like Newton,Virginia Tech, and the Colorado shooting, all committed by the mentally ill. To compare these tragedies to t.v.'s

People talk about teachers having guns but how would that work. Would they carry a gun in a holster or keep it locked away in case of an emergency. I think it would be difficult to concentrate on teaching and would always worry about carrying my gun or if someone took it away while I was working with a student and not paying attention to my gun.
