  1. You're smart in doing that. As a former middle school teacher, 6th graders are poorly prepared for middle school and anything you can do to help your child get ready, will help him and his teachers.
  2. Toronto is also about 2 hours away; it is a beautiful city and you may want to check that out as well.
  3. Who needs that gosh darn and even though the poster did not spell it out, we all know what they meant but we are not going to allow this in the future dump?
  4. If Peterson was being executed it could be shown on Pay-Per-View. I bet it would get good ratings
  5. Here's somebody who deserves to die. http://xfinity.comcast.net/articles/news-national/20130219/US.Drew.Peterson/
  6. I doubt the conservatives have the stomach for such a difficult task, especially candy asses like Mitt Romney, and would outsource the job.
  7. At an IQ of 70, he's probably capable of planning a murder. However, I've had students with I.Q's of 50 and 60 and they're lucky they can do 2nd grade work. If these people are dangerous, they belong in a facility that can deal with them and a prison may not be it.
  8. I have a friend who is a correctional officer and thinks the death penalty is too easy and thinks life in prison is worse.
  9. Rick Perry and most of Texas would be gone. Come to think of it, so would the tea party and most of the south.
  10. Here's a link. I don't disagree that people who commit murder deserve to be punished and maybe this guy is mentally capable, but executing the mentally retarded should be a last resort. http://www.capitalpunishmentincontext.org/node/77467
  11. 1st degree murder means it's premeditated and depending on the severity of developmental disability, is this man capable of the forethought to carry the murder out? What is the mental age of the man? If it's below a certain age, he's not fully aware of what he did. I think that's the difference.
  12. The question is, is a mentally challenged person capable of premeditated murder, which would be needed for an execution. Do we really need to be executing the developmentally disabled?
  13. I saw BB King in his early 70's and he was still in pretty good shape, he could still play standing up and his voice was still really strong. Ruth Brown and Bobby Blue Bland also were on the bill. Ruth Brown put on a great performance. It's hard to watch the greats get old, especially your idols; I saw Paul McCartney at Phillips in 2005 and he put on a great show and his voice was still good. Lately though, he can't hit the notes anymore and it's hard for me to watch.
  14. I saw BB King in the mid 90's it was an amazing show
  15. This is not an indictment of people with Down's Syndrome but a discussion of an unfortunate event where someone lost their life; where an arresting officer was unaware or lacked knowledge in dealing with someone who had a developmental disability and the use of proper restraint techniques. Hopefully, out of this tragedy, learning takes place and something doesn't happen again.
  16. Or the ones that say ex-lax on them.
  17. I think I have the answer
  18. Perhaps Wal-Mart is a victim of its own success. Wal-Mart succeeds by driving out local retail businesses, until they're the only game in town. This eliminates jobs other than Wal-Mart; coupled with rising medical costs, including health insurance, which Wal-Mart doesn't want to provide, winds up making people be unable to shop at their store. Even Henry Ford saw the value in paying workers a decent wage, so they could buy his cars.
  19. I heard the dog's name was Roger Clemens.
  20. Early in my pcom days, you and I had some run-ins but as I've found, politics aside we have things in common. We're not bad people jut two people who look at some things differently.
  21. Confucius say "man who go to bed with sexual problem, wake up with solution in hand".
  22. If Menendez is having sex with underage prostitutes, he's a scumbag and should resign and face criminal prosecution. I have no problem with Rubio taking a sip of water but I don't think his rebuttal to the state of the union was very good.
  23. At least the captain didn't abandon ship.
  24. This thread has gone to sh*t.
