  1. My take on this...

I've been digging into it, and while there doesn't seem to be any clear proof, it appears that Trump's comments were taken out of context. I think what he said was more like He knew what he signed up for, but he put the uniform on anyway and did his duty.

Granted, not the best way to say it, and Trump seems to have a habit of wording things poorly.

I think what he probably meant was more like He knew the dangers, yet he put his bravery and patriotism above his own safety and served his country with distinction.

A lot of politicians make gaffs. Dubya and Joe Biden come to mind. But yeah, Trump is the king of it.

I think we should be at least equally outraged at the congresswoman who made all this public. It was totally inappropriate for her to do that, as well as insensitive to the family of the deceased. What she should have done was to go to Trump privately and told him she thought he was an anal orifice. But no, she latched onto the opportunity to politicize this and become a bigshot within the party. She put party politics over common decency. Shame on her!!

But as usual, you who worship the political left have gleefully jumped on the bandwagon just to have something else to slam the guy you hate over. And in doing so, you are helping to add anger and stress to an already grieving family. I am truly disgusted by the hate and nastiness in politics today.

The Congresswoman appears to be a self absorbed publicity hound. She must be afraid she will lose her mind if she takes off her cowgirl hat. Thinking she has already lost it. Sad to turn a Soldier's death into something about herself. :(

I've seen Judge Bucci perform as a GAL. I think of the choices to be appointed he was the best choice but true to being a member of the bar, he falls in line and defers to his fellow judges, especially Tonny S. Beavers. But then it would be unreasonable to think he would buck a system that is so ingrained, on his own.

Sitting judges are almost never contested because the losing candidate will never win a case in that courtroom again. So the fact that he was uncontested is more the norm rather than an accomplishment.

Judges also receive campaign contributions that are never reported and they are never challenged ethically. I don't know that Judge Bucci has done this but it is a frequent occurrence among OTHER judges. Why would a judge need campaign contributions if they are running unopposed? What happens to that money if it is not reported?

Clearly you don't have a clue about this Judge. It calls into question your judgment about all of them. You must have an ax to grind against the judicial system period.

I think I may have found the answer to my question!

    Wake up Paulding FB page

    Things that Make you Hmmm…

Is Todd Pownall considering a write-in campaign?

There has been some chatter recently about a write in campaign candidate from anti-commercialization activists for BOC Chairman. Yes, it is technically not over yet! Mid September is the deadline for declaring yourself a write-in candidate. Wake Up Paulding County assumes, but has not verified that if a write in candidate declares, their name would appear on the November presidential ballot alongside Carmichael’s in the county general election, just as if there had been a Democrat primary winner for the BOC Chairman.

At the August 9th BOC meeting Todd Pownall states, “It won’t be the same conversation (referring to a tax increase for next year) coming from this seat if the Lord still has me sitting here next year.”

Is this a HINT that Todd Pownall is considering a write in campaign for BOC Chairman?

This is not happening. Those folks just like stirring the pot. Carmichael will be Chair and I welcome him. He won and Congratulations to him.

Trump University is huge, every professor was hand picked to make the customers a success. And Trump steaks are the best in the world. He guarantees it. Every single mom should plop down $35,000 on maxed-out credit cards risking being evicted to get these marvelous and huge benefits from Donald Trump, a marvelous and stupendous success that he takes pains to pass along to you, again from his hand picked experts in real estate.

Still, whether or not Trump personally claims to be a self-made man ... there are enough apologists and spinmeisters out telling that story ... or should I say fib ... for fun and profit.

You forgot ,"then go bankrupt and leave the taxpayers/investors to pick up the tab".

  5. A great deal of politicians come from wealthy parents. However Trump lies to build himself up as a self made man, He's far from that in my book.

We don't often agree but on this we do. Trump is a liar and he will run over the little guy to get what he wants. Not a nice guy at all. We don't know what he is really worth because he won't release his tax returns which is a requirement to run for this office. We do know that he has many loans with big banks.

  6. Haven't been around in quite a while but got to reading this thread. Over the years debating many of you about politics, it was always easy to distinguish the GOP partisan hacks and those who actually used some common sense to form their own opinions. This thread really shows that nothing has changed. Props to those folks, good Republicans, who recognize that the GOP nominee is not fit for office. It's okay to hate Hillary and not vote for her but it's admirable that some of you aren't going to vote Trump just because he has an R beside his name. Hopefully y'all are finding some solace in Gary Johnson's candidacy.

He is a boring candidate who has nothing to bring to the table. I do wish there were a good 4th option. All of them are awful.

  7.

I've read every book ever published about Hillary Clinton.

I have read every book by and about Donald J. Trump.

I'm quite comfortable with my decision.

    :)

I hope you can say that next year. I will vote for him but I will never work for him. I will not defend him when he is wrong or when he is mean. I will not defend him when he lies and he does that a lot. He is another version of hope and change. How is the first one working out?

  8.

But Trump does not say he object to the judge because he is a member of Raza, Trump doesn't point out any conflicts of interest except that his heritage is Hispanic. Spin that anyway you want the guy remains a demagogue with the mentality of a thirteen year old playground bully.

He scares the heck out of me. I have no idea how we managed to get one of the worst out of a field of 17.

  9. I am shocked that a building was built on school property with a loan secured by a private citizen. If I am clear on it that is what happened. Then for whatever reason the EPFBC took over the private loan for a building on County owned property. How in the heck did it ever get approved with no collateral by the Paulding School Board? I did not think anyone could build on property THEY had no clear title to. This story gets more amazing with each and every detail. Who were the BOE members who approved such a deal?

Perhaps you should tell your wife to do the same. As for me using my screen name, and others as well...... the kicker is a lot of people already know who we are IRL.

The difference being one is using a screen name to perpetrate lies.

I have discussed this thread with people in the know. No you didn’t. You’ve discussed this with people who have all heard the story second hand but have no direct knowledge that any of this happened. If you ask you’ll find that they heard it from someone who heard it from someone else. It will all lead to one person who told them the story. Yeah, seems like he was asking questions that y'all didn't want to answer. Every single question was answered…..multiple times. Every person who has bothered to sit down and listen and review the numbers has voted to keep selling the fireworks and not a single one of them has found that any wrong doing took place. As far as him not being there for whatever, was that before or after y'all didn't give him the correct contact information for the sponsors? COMPLETE FABRICATION. That never happened. You’ll find that this story all leads back to one person as well. The great thing about being involved with the organization is that when the emails and documentation is passed around you can see the time line and the multiple times the sponsor information was addressed and, presented and confirmed. Again…TOTAL FABRICATION.

Don’t take my word for it. Talk to Amanda Harmon. She’s the one accused of doing it. She has all the emails showing that the story is false. Speak to Reverend Morgan as well.

What happened with your touch down club is a damn shame, and as long as it is on your touch down club that's fine, but when you want the taxpayers to pay for something that should never have been done then it becomes everybody's business. No one has suggested that the tax payers do anything. The members voted to pay off the loan and no other recommendation has been approved or discussed. Again, False information.. No taxpayer I know I wouldn't have put my name on a loan that was made in someone else name. I'm sure there are other people who are glad your wife did.. it was do that or disband the booster club. according to Dr. Fraker.

So 50.000 was the boy scouts cut of the fireworks sale? What is so wrong about asking where that much money went to? Sounds like the fireworks stand was quite lucrative.

There is NO $50,000. No donation to the Boy Scouts. Never was at all. That’s ridiculous. I have no idea where that lie came from. Don’t take my word for it though. All fund raisers have to be approved by the school. Talk to Mr. Freeman and Mr. Daws. They had to review the books because of one person making that allegation. And guess what? Not a penny was out of place, nothing untoward happened. The entire project was clean as a whistle. The numbers were presented to the membership and every aspect of it was explained in detail. The membership voted to do it again.

I also understand that you have a personal beef with Steve that goes beyond this. As adults most of us are able to look at the big picture. I have an issue with someone wanting a public office that makes false accusations and spreads rumors and gossip that aren’t even close to being true. THAT is a big picture issue.

RaidersRock, Tundra, and I are not in any way trying to bring down the booster club, or those boys. They deserve so much better. I also don't think that anyone has accused anyone of stealing anything. Yeah? Tell that to the long list of school administrators who were dragged into meetings to review the books on this fund raiser time and again because one person kept insisting that there MUST be something illegal going on. Each time it was cleared, another administrator was called and asked to meet. Each time nothing untoward was found and everything cleared. To the point that the school will no longer hear any accusations on the subject. Now that same person is spreading the story around P.com. There have been questions asked and not really answered. False. Every question has been answered multiple times. From what I understand there were several fundraisers offered and none were agreed upon. FALSE. The only plans that were not put into place weren’t feasible or wouldn’t be approved by the administration. Some were put into play that failed miserably. The program is in a really really bad spot, but if the school board was to vote to give y'all the money to satisfy the loan, then they would have to give the same amount to all the other schools. ???? No one has asked the school system to pay the loan. They ARE NOT paying anything off. That's not being fiscally responsible to all of the tax payers.

I just want to know why we should vote for someone who may or may not be at the meetings, doesn't ask questions, and just goes along with whatever the yes vote is. I have yet to have an answer to that question. Theresa asks questions. When the agenda is presented before the meetings and is prepared to discuss the facts. NOT as a show in front of people. She wasn’t at the janitor vote. I never said she was there.

Can you point to an instance where she “went along”? Or is that just a repeated story?

How many of those BOE meetings did you personally attend?

You know what you did....I promise you it's okay for people to agree to disagree. Getting angry is not going to sway anyone's mind. We all have knowledge of the candidates and will vote based on what we believe it right for the school system, county, state, etc. I just pray that everyone truly does their homework before they vote. Have any voters ever actually attended a school board meeting and watched school board member in action? Have any voters every actually attended a commissioner's meeting and watched them in action? ETC. It is vitally important to research and be informed...

Yes to all of those questions.

  11. Just because she is/was ONE person on the board doesn't mean she should stay on the board. What was her vote in reference to the janitors? The schools aren't nearly as clean as they used to be. How many janitors lost their jobs because of outsourcing the work to a company?

Why have you not answered my question about Kerstin home schooling her kids, and why you think it's a bad thing?

Do you have a familial relationship with Theresa Lyons? Besides the fact that she is on the board now, why should we vote for her?

What is your personal intent to get her reelected? Having spoken with Steve Dutton on several occasions and asking him questions that I think are important, I truly think he has the schools (ALL of the schools) best interest at heart. Sometimes when one asks the right questions, and the ones who don't want to answer them squirm, it becomes time to take your ball and go to a bigger playground.

As for News Junky, I am very proud to her call her friend. She won't air someone else's personal laundry, you see she is a real lady.

I however may not be so lady like. I googled your name.

I told him he needed to shut up. He would not listen and now someone who also knows what goes on is going to fill in some blanks. You just scratched the surface. Love you my fearless friend.

  12. Just about the response that expected. I don't know her on a personal level as you claim to. I know what results she's been a part of as a board member.

So, you'd be willing to slander a friend on a public forum (under a fake name, of course) over someone you claim to only have just met?

Interesting. Damn glad I don't have to count on YOU as a friend. What kind of passive aggressive personality disorder would prompt you to threaten to slander a friend that you claim to like just to justify your political ideals? Who does that? Well......not using your real name must really help in the decision to be THAT hypocritical.

For something to be slander it has to be untrue. You need to grow up and stop talking about things you know nothing about. Bye. Done with you.

  13. You really like her as a person but are willing to tear her to pieces on a public forum (under a fake name, no less) because your logic is being challenged? Hypocrite much? Why you identify with Dutton is becoming more and more clear. So, you have no rebuttal to the boards performance and have to resort to personal attacks to justify your decisions? Interesting. Maybe you should quit while you are behind.

Shove it. I told you I won't say what I know on this forum. If you truly cared for her you would have shut up long ago.

  14. "Sway your decision"? LOL. I was just trying to figure out if it was basedon anything substantial. You proved it wasn't.

You're picking promises over performance.......that it friendship. Either one, you're in for a surprise.

Go ahead. Vote for the sales pitch. Based on real life experience, don't expect much work out of him once his picture is in the paper if he's elected and is ever in town. Ask round of the people that counted on him to keep his word. They didn't buy the sales pitch for long.

I really like her as a person. I am not going to tear her to pieces on p.com. You really should stop while you are ahead if you care for her too.

  15. Watching it and understanding it seem to be two different things. She never said she rubber stamps anything. There's no history nor record of anyone "rubber stamping" anything on the budget. Look at the minutes of the meetings. Long drawn out discussions and votes on budget items. You do realize that the current board managed to cut costs, increase services and advanced acreditation without raising the millage rate. Right? You appear to be stuck on one thing. A comment that you are taking out of context. The resume of the current board contains nothing but positive results against the odds. Normally, that kind of success gains praise. You seem set on Dutton no matter what the facts are on the subject. Nope, not a very compelling argument at all.

Vote for who you want to and I will do the same. I know what I heard and that is not the only thing that I base my choice on. I will be voting for Steve Dutton and I still have freedom of choice so you can stop trying to sway my decision.

"Without question" is your opinion or a quote? Referring to the Superintendent, which they picked, as someone that she would accept opinions from and whose job it is to implement the budget is a normal function of the board. Refer, if you will, back to the budget successes with those decisions. It’s not up to an individual board member to take responsibility for the budget. It’s a shared function requiring a consensus of opinion. Picking a candidate that doesn't understand nor even know the actual numbers is a better choice? Your entire decision has been based on an off the cuff remark during a response portion of a hurried and cut short debate?

I DO know him. I’ve “worked” (if you can call it that) with him on a few projects and witnessed his priorities. “Absentee” is a great descriptive. If there isn’t a photographer or a reporter available, good luck. If the task requires work……….You’re alone.

Speaking from experience. I’d rather have someone who’s succeeded in the position than someone who sells a good game but comes far short in results.

I’m not thrilled with the term incumbent in most races, but to replace a successful group with a sales pitch just because you don’t like incumbents in general is a misinformed action to take. We have far too many "salesmen" in politics as it is.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion. So am I and I will vote the way I believe is best. I think it is up to every single BOE member to check the budget and to understand it without taking it on face value from the office who makes it up. It is part of the job.

I can understand if you are friends with Dutton but let’s look at the whole picture. Theresa knows far more about the budget than Dutton does. His entire debate appearance was one long stream of incorrect numbers and assumptions. He quoted the wrong dollar amounts on almost every aspect of the budget. And that's speaking from a prepared statement. I've had personal dealings with Theresa about the budget and she can quote chapter and verse on expenditures for budget issues going back to 2010 and can site accreditation meetings and findings all day. Dutton asked Theresa what qualifies her for the position. I was dumbfounded….I have to give Theresa credit for not laughing……”What makes her qualified to be on the board”? …Do you mean BESIDES doing it for the last eight years? LOL.

Theresa’s tenure on the board has seen accreditation ratings increase more since 2010 than ever before. Her tenure saw an economic crash that caused every other portion of the county to cut services and raise the millage rate. Not only did the board NOT raise the millage rate, they did so with increased student enrollment and lower tax revenue. On top of that, the board actually lived within their means (something politicians aren’t well known for), cut unnecessary spending and renegotiated vendor contracts to cut $55 million from their expenditures. I give this current board the credit due for their accomplishments. Actions speak louder than words. A salesman turned politician? Okay, how much salt is going to be needed to take THOSE campaign promises. I’ll stick with someone who’s already delivered versus someone who can’t get the facts straight in a statement that was prepared weeks in advance.

I understand that you may have to go back to Dutton to see how this needs to be addressed, but be aware that I am stating published facts and not opinion (links to the budget notes, accreditation notes and debate transcripts can easily be posted if needed). My OPINION is that Theresa has the character to continue being successful in this positon. The fact that she’s a true public servant is a verifiable fact. Based on past experience and what’s been observed here lately, Dutton doesn’t have the experience, background, knowledge (see the details above) nor character (THAT, is my opinion, your standards for honesty, character and hypocrisy may vary) to serve this county.

There’s one additional point I’d like to make. I am making these statements on a public forum in which my identification is readily available. I am NOT scurrying behind the scenes making untrue accusations behind anyone’s back. Everything I’m posting is readily available for everyone to read and I welcome any inquiries as to the details. You can vote for whomever you wish, just do so with your eyes wide open……I bought the sales pitch for a short time….. a lot of people did.

You might want to check the video from the GOP debate. She said she would accept the opinion of those who made recommendations on the budget without question. Sorry but it is her job to know and to make sure that it is correct. I had never met Dutton until he decided to run. I think she is a wonderful person but it is time for a change on the BOE.
