  1. What a touching tribute to their music teacher...

My daughter also went upfront to sing Jesus loves Me, and I think it will be a memory she will keep always. It was a very touching service. My daughter liked the part where Mrs. Peters and her husband were holding hands before the accident. What a wonderful example of a very loving family. She is still teaching by example to us all. :)

  2. We are so sad to hear about our wonderful chorus teacher. We received a call from our daugter's homeroom teacher yesterday. My daughter has been in all the school programs with Ms. Peters and is very upset. She is in 5th grade. My daughter is currently sick with Pnemonia and Bronchitis and will not be at school until later this week. She will not be able to grieve with her friends and school until later. The music program is everything to my daughter and when my husband and I told her she was devistated. As adults we prepare for things like this, but how do you tell your child, she has lost one of her favorite teachers. Mrs. Peters has a wonderful husband and her son was her everything. Family was everything to her and they were always together at every function at McGarity. All I can say is our Lord, has just received a beautiful soul to join his chorus of angels. I look forward to hearing her sing again. God Bless our school during this time.

  3. I remember the big Cobb Center well. I lived right down the road from the mall growing up. In fact, my son who is fourteen now had his first Santa picture made there. Santa was sick and we found out later he had cancer. We still display the picture to this day at Christmas, he was the most loving/caring Santa. Cobb Center was soon torn down after that. All the stores..... The bookstore, the pet store and especially Milton Bradley. The mention of these stores bring a big smile..... to many memories Woolworths, Kesslers, and Lerners. On Saturdays, I would go to the theater with my sister and friends. I love the mention of Zayre's, there will never be another one like it. I remember during the Cabbage Patch doll craze, my mom and I stood in line to get a doll and we were in line waiting for Zayre's to open. The line was wrapped around the buildings past the theater. Left with a doll in hand. I thought mom was crazy, and now I caught myself doing the same thing for my kids.

  4. It was hard getting an appointment yesterday at the doctors. They said they called in an extra doctor and they were treating over one hundred and thirty kids just yesterday. I lucked up, one canceled or I would had to wait until today or go to a 24 hour facility and wait forever. The acheness is what you have to watchout for its what they are calling the symptoms of the flu. The viral just makes you tired and drained. They both have a nasty cough. I hope all of you who are sick get better soon. Thanks for all the well wishes :D

  5. My middle schooler has the flu and my elementary student has the viral infection. Having alot of fun playing doctor for the last week. My nephew goes to another elementary school in Paulding and he to is sick with a viral infection. I heard Bartow County has the the strain of viral going around bad. Monday alone 315 students were sick in one school. It takes about one week I heard for the viral and 10 days for the flu if you catch it at the begining. Looking forward to winter break, maybe some of the germs will stay away from the schools.

  6. I have panel walls too, and I was wondering if you spackle the walls did the spackle show, or did you run the spackle only on the lines of the panel. Great idea, I have always wanted to paint the panel but you can never go back. I really have seen some bad paint jobs on panel. Thanks...

  7. I called Johnboy Automotive this morning after my car stranded me on the side of the road last night. My wife found Johnboy last night on Paulding.com. An honest, hard working, mechanic. He quickly assessed the situation and was able to repair the problem without putting me through any unnecessary expense. In these tough economic times, it is hard to find a person who is willing to put honesty and integrity before profit.

    Kudos to you Steven!

    Thanks and God Bless! :D

  8. you can always ride down the dirt road I live on

My family and I call this road. Spooky Jones road. We pass this road on the way to the in-laws all the time and one day I took a short cut and tried the road. I noticed it came out on the highway and thought cool a short cut. I was actually alone this time, dropped the kids off for the weekend. I road down the road in my Toyota car and next thing I noticed holes in the road that would swollow my car whole, then I started to think if I did not get off this road in a hurry I would be kidnapped and become a hillbillies wife, I would never been seen again. I was really freaked out, must I say it was dusk dark when I tried it. The imagination is a terrible thing when you experience things like this.

  9. Apparently Aldi is MUCH cheaper. My daughter goes there and says she gets almost twice as much for her money as she does at Food Depot or Kroger (which oddly enough are not that much different in price).

Daughter and SIL are on a really tight food budget and she says it amazes her what she can get at Aldi for $70.

Aldi has the best spiral ham. My husband has made four over the past year. They are better than what you would buy at the top notch place. He glazes them with honey and coke and then takes his mini butane torch and burns the coating on it. We will never go back to the professionals again. :p

  10. well this has not been a merry christmas. my oldest woke up screaming in pain. we opened presents even though no one was happy. hubby and I have been fighting every since I lost my wallet and our money. just found out oldest, who has been in the er since 10 am, now has a double ear infection. baby has been on and off crying all morning.

    ,

    Merry Christmas

I will pray for you and your family. Sorry about the little's guys ears. My two had the same problems when they were little too. I am truly sorry about your wallet. I praying for prosperity for you and your family. Merry Christmas.

  11. Productive or nonproductive cough? Has the child already been to the doctor? May need a prescription. Vicks Rub works great. There is also a mucinex for kids. Works great. If it's a dry cough, I'd go with Vicks and claritin OTC. If it is productive, go to the doctor.

Rub Vicks vapor rub on your little ones chest and then rub some on the bottom of their feet and put socks on them.

Don't laugh it really works. I agree with the Delsym cough medicine. I have used it on my children over 14 years. If you have any medical questions call Jim at Kroger he is a great pharmacist.

  12. This is my first year preparing a turkey and i was wondering if any of you wonderful pcom cooks could give me cooking suggestions.

    Rubs.. Temps...time... etc.

    Thanks so much!!

    Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Its not to hard. Just don't let it overwhelm you. I hope your turkey is thawed.

Next step, wash real good. Are you stuffing it with dressing?

Make sure you remove the gibblets and neck out of the butt and front.

Cook 20 minutes for every pound. Put a themometer in and make sure it reached 170 to 180.

I cooked one yesterday 13 pounds and it took 5 hours with stuffing. Cook on temp 350

  13. wow 5 year old boy weighs 131..

The doctors are really trying to help this young boy..

but this parents give in to him pictihing a fit,

He eats 1000 calories just for breakfast..

his favorite food is pizza, and fast food..

I hope they can help him...

I love watching the Doctors, I have my husband hooked... We tape it and watch it at night together. I love the Pedatrician Doctor. He likes to demostrate everything. He even got de-liced for his son. What a father..

  14. Praise Academy Total Learning Center off of Hiram Lithia Springs Rd.

They are wonderful - My son went there through the 3rd grade.

First Baptist in Powder Springs. Is a great place. Mrs. Sandy and Mrs. Kim are the K5 teachers. I worked with them in the past. The students are always so prepared for 1st grade.

  15. I'd call the school rather than posting here, but that's just me. :good:

Tonight is McGarity's Fall Festival and if it rains the events will be brought into the school. I have seen this and it can be done. So come and have fun...

  16. I shouldn't be laughing so loud this early in the morning, but some of these comments are cracking me up!

My husband wanted me to cut his hair too, I did not double check the guard size and must I say when I was done he looked like a monk all he needed was the brown robe. I was too crying  I called my mom and all she could do was laugh at my husband that made me feel even worse. She helped me shape the cut. My sweet husband kept telling me it was ok and he did not mind looking like a monk. The next day he went to work and they harassed him bad, he never let on to me. I found out through a friend. During his lunch hour he went to get a haircut, he received a very short/shaved cut and must I say he looked very nice. He has again asked me to cut his hair and I tell him no! I was not put on this earth to cut hair it is not a God given talent I have received.

  17. I highly recommend All Terrain Service Company. Not sure what day of the week they would pick up. Why would it matter if you're closed on pick up day? -- Never mind, saw the reason.

All Terrain now has a website. http://allterrainsvc.com/

I Live on the Paulding County Line and we have ALLTerrain too. The customer service is excellent and the prices are fair.

Give them a call they are reliable.

  18. I'll see if I can find out. She might have turned the paper in at school today... not sure.

Thats it...plane. I have really dug hard into my brain. I have called the smartest people I know and this is what I have to tell them. Plane... I can not pick the phone up. I am glad to hear I am smarter than a 3rd grader I was afraid, I know I am not smarter than a fifth grader. Give this question to Kathy Cox and see what she says.

  19. tru dat

This sounds like a good reason to call the teacher on her lunch break and tell her how much stress she has placed on Paulding County. She has us at out knees waiting until your child comes home from school today. I need to know the answer, this problem is circulating in Powder Springs, Atlanta, and Marietta. Its like Pay it Forward...... with out rewards and benefits. :p :clapping:

  20. Well...I'm thinking the question has an error in it, no?

Folks, this is a THIRD GRADE question.

I seriously doubt it's "ibis," plus, NOTHING about "ibis" has the same vowel sound as "whale."

Remember when Cox was on "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader"?

    Over analysis was the DEBIL.

I'd love to know that there's a simple answer; I think the question is flawed?

I have called several family members please post the answer tomorrow. The unknown is driving us crazy. :p

  21. Same thing happened to me this morning. I left the house on E heading to work, which I shouldn't have. I thought Hiram would have at least ONE station with gas. BIG MISTAKE. So I headed farther towards work, the Phillips 66 on Macland was out too, so I turned onto the side road that leads back to Hiram and found the Sunoco on the right of 278. Needless to say I stomped it the entire way to work and skidded into my desk chair at 9:01 am. lol.

There is still no gas in Hiram at Sams, Race Trac, BP, Phillips 66 as of 9:30 a.m. Husband became fustrated and brought my car home. Needless to say I still have no gas :nea:
