Shipp

Mr. John Seyborn Shipp Jr., age 79, of Dallas, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2003. He was born April 7, 1924 in Hiram to the late John and Nellie Shipp Sr. He was a Navy veteran of World War II where he stormed the beach in Normandy and was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Dallas. Mr. Shipp was a manager at Marta for 44 years.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Mary Kay Rakestraw Shipp; Sons and Daughters-in-law, John and Hilda Shipp of Dallas, Alan and Jeanne Shipp of Dallas and Brian Shipp of Dallas; Grandchildren, Fred Lucas, Jonathan Shipp, Jenifer Stieglitz, Leigh Shipp, Kathryn Shipp and Cade Shipp; Great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Cody Lucas and Kayla and Braiden Shipp; Many Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 12, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. from The First United Methodist Church in Dallas with Dr. Ken Ray officiating. The interment will follow in Paulding Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home in Hiram. The pallbearers are Carlton Rakestraw, Ken Rakestraw, Jeffrey Brown, Tommy Aiken, John Doss, Scott Brown, Russ Strickland, Jason Rakestraw and Clay Rakestraw. Clark Funeral Home in Hiram in charge of arrangements.
