Paulding Defendant Sentenced to Two Consecutive Life Sentences for 2002 Double Murder

On September 27th 2019, Paulding Superior Court Judge T. David Lyles sentenced Andrew Shadrix to the maximum punishment possible for the 2002 murder of Jeffrey Jackson and Shad English. In September of 2002, Jeffrey and Shad were shot to death; their bodies were put in the trunk of a car and driven to Fulton County. An extensive investigation was conducted by multiple law enforcement agencies but no charges were brought at the time of the murder.

Following new leads, Deputies with the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office working with the Paulding County District Attorney’s Office, took up the investigation. These efforts resulted in the Defendant giving a full confession.

The 2002 sentencing provisions do not allow for a sentence of life without the possibility of parole. At the sentencing hearing, the State, through Chief Assistant District Attorney Matthew Rollins, requested the maximum punishment possible and Judge Lyles agreed. Andrew Shadrix was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences. This means that the second life sentence will not start until after the first.

While we can never bring back the victims of this senseless act of violence, we hope that this brings some level of closure to the victim’s families. We would like to thank the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, the Atlanta Police Department, the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office, the Cobb County Police Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for the hard work and dedication they have shown in this case.
