Ruth Ferguson "Mama Ruth" Monk - May 17, 1918 - February 24, 2019

Ruth Ferguson Monk (Mama Ruth), age 100, of Dallas, GA., passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Kimberly Assisted Living. She was born on May 17, 1918 in Dallas, GA., to the late William Noah and Constance Dabbs Ferguson. Mrs. Monk worked as a homemaker and was a faithful member of Burnt Hickory Methodist Church. She loved her family dearly as well as her church and community. Mrs. Monk enjoyed gardening and canning. Mrs. Monk also enjoyed playing the piano. She played for many years at church and then entertained the residents and staff at Kimberly. Mrs. Monk is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sharon Lee; sons, William Boyd and Gregory Lee; son-in-law, Bobby Morgan; daughter-in-law, Sandra Carruth Monk; great-great grandson, Woodrow Ridings; her parents and her siblings.

 

Survivors include daughters, Patsy Morgan and Sara (Dale) Ragsdale of Dallas, GA and son, Terry (Melissa) Monk of Dallas, GA. Her 8 grandchildren Keith Morgan, Lisa (Robbie) Dobson, Elaine (Keith) Lee, Boyd Monk, Jr (Lee Kaylor), Jana Ragsdale, John Monk, Rusty (Jessica) Monk, Mandi (Corey) Lee, seven great-grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

 

Mama Ruth was a beloved member of the Burnt Hickory Community. Everyone who knew her called her a friend. Always witty and full of life, Mama Ruth was a snappy dresser and loved accessorizing every outfit. Deeply rooted in Paulding County, she made her home at her childhood family farm.

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Monk will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 3:00 PM from Clark Funeral Home chapel with Brothers Steve Griggers and Lee Ridings officiating. Interment will follow the service at Ferguson Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 26, 2019 from 5:00 to 8:00.
