Coppertop's Pop
https://www.ajc.com/news/local/marietta-man-killed-paulding-crash-after-hitting-ice/Dr1hfiM31CX9WQEfGoYa1J/ A 22-year-old man from Cobb County was killed in a two-car crash Wednesday night in Paulding County, officials said. Antonio Brown of Marietta was driving a Ford F-250 pickup truck south on Bobo Road when he struck a patch of ice while negotiating a curve, according to the Georgia State Patrol. The pickup failed to maintain its lane and left the roadway, struck a fence, a tree and a culvert, the GSP said. Brown’s truck continued east and struck the rear of a Ford F-150 pickup truck that was parked and unattended in the driveway of a house in the 1600 block of Bobo Road, the GSP said. Brown’s F-250 landed on its driver's side and he was pronounced dead at the scene by the Paulding County coroner. Three passengers survived the crash, but one person was hurt. “It is believed that alcohol played a role in this crash,” the GSP said.
The Sound Guy
It's sad that learning the dangers of Ice on the roads often have such high costs. My son is still paying high insurance premiums for totaling out his truck on an Icy US 61 N several years ago. This young man paid with his life. The only good thing about having so much ice this winter is maybe, maybe, more people will learn to respect it and figure out how to drive on this stuff. (Slow, slow, slow). Of course with two of my kids having been passed on a double yellow with snow all over the place because they were going slowly to try to be safe, maybe not.
ivhc
Yeah, I saw a young driver on his cell phone driving down East Paulding Dr. Thursday afternoon. He was in front of a truck whose driver apparently thought he was going too slow, following much too close. The young driver put his hand out the window and gave the truck driver a middle finger salute. Two (or three) things wrong with this picture: the young driver on his cell phone in one hand and saluting with the other & the truck driver following too closely!! East Paulding Dr. was a packed sheet of ice!!
rednekkhikkchikk
I honestly don't know what compels a person to text or use the internet while they are driving. I do know that we are quickly approaching a point where auto insurance won't just be expensive, it will be unaffordable if something doesn't give with the distracted/impaired driving & everyone in such a hurry all the time. In the 30 years I have worked in insurance, I have never seen anywhere near the number of auto accidents reported as I did from August to December of last year.
