Mrs. Margie “Joyce” Voyles Smith, 83, of Lithia Springs, Georgia passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Powder Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born June 6, 1933 in Floyd, Georgia, the daughter of the late Mr. Marshall Hodge Voyles and the late Mrs. Rosa Lee Moon Voyles. She worked as a Thread and Spool Operator at Coats and Clark. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Paulding County and also attended Unity Baptist Church in Dallas. She enjoyed taking care of her home and spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed gardening and flowers. She was an avid reader.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edward Smith; and a sister, Peggy V. Coyle. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Edward and Janice Smith of Lithia Springs and Neal and Tammy Smith of Dallas; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Rev. Donald and Pauline Voyles of Dallas and Jerry P. Voyles of Ellijay; one granddaughter, Ashley Smith; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Friday, May 26, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Rev. Donald Voyles officiating. Interment will follow at Powder Springs Cemetery. Messages of condolence to the family may be sent at www.jones-wynn.com.
