Military Operation Ordered without Due Diligence

Recommended Posts

We want our military to serve a purpose. Actions need to be throughly planned, thought through, and have a policy purpose. Someone gave the order without doing that. http://mobile.reuters.com/article/idUSKBN15G5RX

You did read the article right? The mission was approved by the previous administrator.

A White House official said the operation was thoroughly vetted by the previous administration and that the previous defense secretary had signed off on it in January. The raid was delayed for operational reasons, the White House official said.

This operation was planned for months.

They were waiting for the next moonless night...

:(

Did you read the article?

“The decision was made ... to leave it to the incoming administration, partly in the hope that more and better intelligence could be collected,” that official said

The Pentagon approved this mission on Dec.17th.

The NSC Committee approved this mission on Jan. 6th.

All they need was a greenlight from the acting President and the cover of darkness...

Perahps you should educate yourself on the planning procedures for covert military operations :

Nobody with even a modicum of rational thought is buying your ridiculous spin...

Approved and waiting for more intelligence and confirmation. Never received.

"CENTCOM asks for operations we believe have a good chance for success and when we ask for

authorization we certainly believe there is a chance of successful operations based on our planning.”

Why did the military planners ask for the go ahead if they were not ready ? ? ?

Why did the White House give the go ahead knowing the information was not there?

You're making a huge assumption here. CENTCOM stated they had the information they needed to make it a successful mission. Based upon that, they were given the green light on an operation they had been planning well before Trump took office. You're desperately looking for anything you can to make it look as if Trump erred. The operation was a success.

The only thing they seem to have captured is a bomb making video that has been available on the internet for ten years.

Pentagon released a 10-year-old Al Qaeda propaganda video to justify the SEAL Team 6 raid where 'almost everything went wrong'

http://www.businessinsider.com/pentagon-aq-video-seal-team-6-raid-2017-2

"Knowing that we killed an estimated 14 AQAP members and that we gathered an unbelievable amount of intelligence that will prevent the potential deaths or attacks on American soil – is something that I think most service members understand, that that’s why they joined the service,” Spicer said.

A senior leader in Yemen's al Qaeda branch, Abdulraoof al-Dhahab, and other militants were killed in the gunbattle, al Qaeda said.

If that was the mission one well placed smart bomb could have accomplished it without the death of a service member. That they gathered an "unbelievable" amount of intelligence remains to be seen.

Do you believe CENTCOM should release the intelligence they gathered?

Assumption? I quoted the article. You are not even being objective and sound like Sean Spicer. Had it been Hillary who gave the order with this result there would have been hearings, investigations, and a resolution for impeachment. What hypocrisy but hypocrisy is par for the course isn't it?

Here it is again.

U.S. military officials told Reuters that Trump approved his first covert counterterrorism operation without sufficient intelligence, ground support or adequate backup preparations.

As a result, three officials said, the attacking SEAL team found itself dropping onto a reinforced al Qaeda base defended by landmines, snipers, and a larger than expected contingent of heavily armed Islamist extremists.
