Blackwell, 39, revealed his video game playing habits in addressing a question about generational diversity on the bench, posed during a lunch hosted by the bar's appellate practice section. He spoke to the group along with Judge Carla Wong McMillian of the state Court of Appeals.

Blackwell said it was important to have a variety of perspectives on a court and thus good to have diversity of practice experience, race, gender, socioeconomic background and age.

Blackwell added that he finds that playing a football-oriented video game is a good late-night diversion.
