Looking for a reasonably priced dentist. A couple friends have health but not dental insurance and need to have cavities filled. Who has the best prices around and doesn't charge an arm & leg?

Then I have to go back in 1 month for a check up and yet might clean insurance covers 0 since it hasn't been 3 months ! Oh well guess ill have deep cleaned teeth! Maybe they're not I don't know! It just seems like a lot if extra money to me

Ditto, if you are referring to Dr. Vu. Stay as far away from them as possible. Their prices are way higher than anyone else. And she doesnt do very good bridge/crown work. I got a root canal and crown and the crown has come off twice in two years. I also should have known better and got a bridge also, the bridge looks fake, it doesnt blend in with the rest of my teeth, you can tell they are not real. Horrible work!! I paid over 1600 for that bridge, I would have have out better getting dentures, at least maybe they wouldnt look so fake!!!

My family has used Dr. Vu for many years. I have been to many before we moved to Hiram. She and her staff are the best I've been to, in all honesty. Prior to her work, I've had several dentists in Tennessee who wanted to do nothing but crowns and stuff on me. Yet when I went to her, she said I just needed a deep cleaning. She saved a me a lot of money, whereas she could have charged more for crowns. I know some of us have mixed results with every businesses we go to, so I can't speak for everybody. I just know that our family aren't going anywhere else.

I love my dentist, but the more I hear about 'deep cleanings' the more I think they border on being a racket. I've heard this same thing from 3 different people, with 3 different dentists in a week. When we started with our practice a few years ago, I 'needed' a deep cleaning too. Luckily, ins covered it all, but I still question whether it was necessary.

Yeah, I had great experiences with her too up until she did my crowns and bridge. She should refer her patients to specialist in crowns and bridges. I know of others who did not like her work as well. She can do the basic but that's it!!!

It is ridiculous. I had an absess from a broken tooth and couldn't get the doctor to call me back. This was in January. The pain and swelling got so bad I had to go to the ER for antibiotics and something for pain. 2/10 I got a callback from the dentist an they could see me the next day. I was so happy. I got there at 10 for my appointment and sat there for 2 hours until the dentist looked at me and said I need a deep clean/debridement before they pulled the tooth. That was $237 out of pocket and they scheduled me to come back in one week. I got there at 11 for my appointment, 90 minutes later they start poking around and tell me things look better. So the hygienist asks me if I want to see if they can pull it today. Hello? Why have I been here three times already? Get this thing out of my head. The dentist comes in and starts talking about doing a bone graft at the time to the tune of $400+ out of pocket  At this point I am ready to attach the thing to my bumper and have my husband drive off. For 6 weeks I have had this huge pocket near my cheekbone which finally decided to bust on it's own last night :bad:

OMG stuff like this can go through your whole body. Try Dr. Terricino. He is great and hardly any waiting time. He will do what you want done.l

I hate that you are having such a problem and while I appreciate a dentist trying to save a tooth, it becomes ridiculous at some point. Just pull the da@n tooth. My daughter has a genetic issue where she has no enamel on her teeth. She had seals put on her teeth starting at 4 years old and her teeth still rotted. It has been a total, VERY EXPENSIVE nightmare. She's had root canals on practically every tooth in her head, caps, crowns etc.

She finally found a dentist that agreed that most of her teeth couldn't be saved, pulled 8 and made her a bridge and she had 5 implants. I could go on for 10 days, but finally last Monday she had her remaining 16 teeth pulled and had dentures put in. It has been a nightmare and I swear I haven't seen a more miserable person in a really long time. I feel so bad for her, she can't eat, she's swollen and bruisy and in tons of pain.

I keep telling her she's one day closer to feeling better, but so far I've been lying. Her new 'teeth' look just like her real teeth as far as the shape and color, so when she's all healed you won't even be able to tell. But it's a shame that at 27, you no longer have your own teeth. I think that's one of her issues as well. And the thousands and thousands of dollars that were spent in vain.

Not all teeth can be saved and dentists need to realize that before they bankrupt their patients. And if I tell you to pull my tooth........PULL IT.

Good luck Happy Wife and Mom, been there done that and it sucks!

I've used Dr. Bickford for years and years and he will agree with what I want.

I lost a tooth that was the last on the bottom left. He sent me to some kind of specialist to see if the tooth could be saved. They said a bone graft and there was no guarantee the graft would work. Might take another. I asked how much, and it was totally ridiculous. I think couple of $thousand$.

I made an appointment and had the tooth pulled. Please. I can do without the back tooth.

Now the last time I was in for a cleaning, I had a different hygenist. A new lady. She says I need scaling and planing. WTH? So he comes in and agrees. They check with my insurance (which isn't worth a flip when it comes crowns, root canals, etc.) and I'm out of pocket $300 for each side, $600 total. It pissed me off, because I take very good care of my teeth and get my cleaning every six months and haven't had a cavity in over 30 years.

I get home and think about it and call and talk to my regular hygenist, and I asked if I can't just come in for a regular cleaning. She says no because they've already notified the insurance company and they can't change the diagnosis, so I'm stuck with it.

It made me so mad that I haven't been back. I've been seeing him since 1988 and then he does that to me. He really is an excellect dentist and does great work, but I don't like to be scammed and then stuck with it. Which is what I am.

Scaling and Planing must be the new money maker.

I use Dr. Shirley with Distimctive Dentistry and he is wonderful. So patient and kind.

He has a great office staff too. They have all been there for years and treat you very

well. I am a chicken when it comes to a dentist but they all make me feel very comfortable. :)

Im not sure what insurance you have but most cover perio at 80% and the rough average is 150.00 per quadrant. That would leave you paying roughly. 30.00 per quadrant. The amount you said seems very high.

I was quoted out-of-pocket $300 each side, which includes numbing. They would do one side at a time.

Would you be willing to do a consultation? I can't ever remember the name of my dental insurance but it's with AT&T. I went and looked and it's Cigna.

Thanks.

Which one exactly? There are two with similar names: Hiram Dentistry on Wendy Bagwell Pkwy next to the old Birdies & new Racetrack and then there's Hiram Family Dentistry which is next to the old Sapporos & across from The Ark animal hospital.

Sure we will help with a consult. Do you have a copy of the xrays or can you get them? Our office will call the insurance company to verify the insurance and give you everything in writing before you are ever asked to proceed with treatment.

We are in network with Cigna, Delta, Aetna, Metlife, Guardian, Humana, UHC and many others.

I guess because I don't have the $400 for the bone graft

It's just me, but you don't need the bone graft. I went through that. only they wanted $1000 after my insurance and it's not guranteed to work and may require another. To me that's just another racket.

I just had the tooth pulled and it's fine.

When you speak of payment plans are you referring to Care Credit. I need a crown and do not want to use Care Credit. But I can not pay the 518.00 I was quoted all at one time.

We do not use care credit due to the fees you have and we have with them. We offer our own in house program with a debit or credit card in our automated billing system. It keeps both of us from paying extra interest or fees.
