Bill Heath issues a challange for Bill Carruth

Recommended Posts

I don't think I've ever put any politician on a pedestal. They are human beings. Some better ... some much better ... than others but the best of them would not earn the accolade that "I believe in them."

However, it is what I believe about them that determines whether they get my vote or not.

Justice:

If I believe they are capable of standing up for justice, I like that about them. I've seen Carruth stand up for justice when he was a post commissioner. I've see Heath demagogue the female mutilation bill in an abject act of injustice.

Action:

This brings to mind the parable of the talents and how one man, very pious and fearful of the Lord, buried his talents and did nothing for fear he might lose them while others, used their talents and risked their loss. I prefer to elect leaders who are not afraid to take risks and can be forgiving of them if the risks they take sometimes backfire. Mr. Heath would never take a risk. Mr. Carruth has the tax liens to prove he takes risks. But then he also has to his credit the purchase of the land for the Richland Creek Reservoir. You may win some and you may lose some but I respect those who take a swing when they're at bat.

Bill Carruth takes stands, takes risks and makes things happen. Bill Heath doesn't do jack. This is NOT a choice of the lesser of two evils; it is a choice of the better leader of two men.

I don't think of Bill Carruth as a "leader", I think of him as a one who looks for the best way to advance himself over another!! I can't stand a snub nose and one that is out all for themselves!! But keep believing what you wish and I will keep my WHOLE family voting againest him!!

One thing I know is that Carruth will do more for Paulding County than Heath will. It might be that we reap the benefits of Carruth looking out for himself, but we will be a lot better off with someone who actually has some interest in Paulding County.

I voted for JK in the primaries because personally, I don't care for either of the Bills. But the Bill I care about the most is the one with dead presidents printed on it and I think Carruth can put more of them in my pocket than Heath can.

Believe me. I will be holding my nose and buzzing on Dramamine when I vote in the runoff.

About as much good as writing in a candidate who was already eliminated from the race by voters 3 days ago.

What are you going to do when there is no option for a write-in candidate? Walk out?

mrnn

D*mn skippy, I'll just walk out. Not voting for someone I don 't believe in.

After much consideration I hope Bill Carruth wins but I will be typing in "Satan" if its an option, otherwise I'll leave it blank, I'll only vote for Carruth if it will not let me write in a candidate or leave blank. Take this as a quasi endorsement after remembering what someone told me about Mason Rountree. I have met Mason, thought a lot of him and if he is supporting Bill Carruth, god help us, then so be it.

I don't know Mason Rountree so his work for Carruth matters nothing at all to me. But I do know some of Heath's supporters. They are the same people that support Paulette Braddock and that is reason enough for me to not vote for Heath. Those people are really out there.

I missed this email a bit earlier and I can't exactly tell, but it looks like Mr. Heath and Mr. Carruth may meet at Mr. Heath's challenge. We'll be there on the off chance.

That is beautiful Mr. Carruth!

I just got a robo-call from Heath saying that he'll be there tonight but that Bill Carruth still hasn't accepted.

Perhaps it's still worth a PCom crew showing up there to film...though you'll probably be blocked at the door.

Pigpen:

You've got to know that this is not a real event by any stretch of the imagination.

Think about it.

The election is Tuesday night. Wednesday morning, we're led to believe, Mr. Heath comes up with the inspiration and books three rooms on the following Monday, Tuesday and Thursday (Dates that I suspect if he checked or had intelligence regarding Bill Carruths' Calendar, he knows have already been booked. - I know I got an mailed invite to Carruth event Thursday evening on Friday, the day all this comes out.)

Heath, without so much as a phone call to arrange 'real dates' with consultation with Carruth's campaign, allegedly lines up Jim Galloway - the only AJC reporter I've ever seen host a political event in Paulding - and the chamber room.

Now we hear that the Chamber says it has nothing at all to do with Mr. Heath's event tonight. Sound like they are distancing themselves from this elaborate ruse.

I wonder if that was because when Jim Galloway heard about the challenge, he wondered in print who the AJC reporter was who was booked? (Any AJC reporter would ask him about the 'opportunity' and advice and it would be absurd that if Galloway wasn't asked first. Since he knows of no one and he obviously he wasn't asked, we can surmise this is total political theater.)

And again, the whole premise is to reassert the second most negative campaign I've seen in recent times - the Sex Shoppes in Dallas campaign not yet eclipsed, pigpen). Still the notion that he's scared two-thirds of Paulding with his lien mailing ... No Aunt Matilda, you don't owe the government $2.2 million dollars and never did ... with an unsigned, coordinated but presumably independent mailing that should be added to your ethics complaint you twit.

Of course he might be wanting to expand on the lie of one of his minions that he had anything to do with the funding of Richland Creek Reservoir which, frankly, is another grandiose lie of a proportion almost as immense as his pious ego.

I've covered water and our communities critical need from my earliest days in Paulding (1989) and that project from the days when Bill Carruth, as commission chairman, got that project put on the ballot for funding in 1999. I've covered water for Paulding from the days when Jerry Shearin did get us a seat on the Cobb-Marietta Water Authority and saw the activity, beginning with Johnny Helms' sitting on the West Georgia Water authority and the progress, slow as it was, toward the construction and ultimately the KILLING, at MR. Heath's hand, of that project that had $40 million in bonds.

So, as closing, let me plea with Mr. Heath to don't screw up the Richland Creek project. Please, just leave it alone. It is DOING JUST FINE WITHOUT YOU.

And voters, just to make sure he doesn't screw this one up, please, please, don't vote for Mr. Heath. I know a lot of you appreciate that he does NOTHING ... but remember he has a history of screwing things up ... so the safest thing you can do is to stay home and let him lose ... so we might get a source of water for Paulding.

PS: I'm debating stopping by the Chamber this evening. I'm leaning toward no, 'cause this is for sure a made up event designed to legitimize robo call lies. I.e. Mr. Heath remains true to form ... running a dirty manipulative campaign based on lies.

Well?

I have the video, I am still thinking it over whether to post it or not.

If you have read the mail from either candidate you pretty much know what was said by Heath.

I have 3 concerns that make me want to post it.

The disclaimer that Heath knows nothing about the pac that paid for the mailers, that he can't get any info from the secretary of state on the ethics complaint and the persistent rumor that the Teaparty signed up candidates for the liberal group backing the lobbyist gift limits.

He did however create his own document to limit his acceptance of lobbyist gifts and signed it in front of the audience.

It is always rough on a challenger to discuss house bills with the same amount of knowledge that the incumbent has and that was the bulk of the speech.

I will say that our local politicians really take the hit when it comes to raising taxes when the honest truth is we get back so little of what we pay in state income tax that we pay in. Our folks are left to find other ways to fund our local needs.

The reservoir was not brought up nor the fact that Bill Curruth facilitated the purchase of it. Yet Mr. Heath and Ms. Braddock have both taken credit for it according to an examiner article.

I will probably upload it at the office around lunch tomorrow, it takes forever on my DSL.

As always Mr. Heath was very articulate, very knowledgeable about the bills he helped pass.

He had quite a few supporters in the audience tonight, it was certainly very one sided with out Mr. Curruth there, that made it kind of non-story for myself I had heard most of it in previous speeches and articles over the last few months.

I was rather amused to hear he was accused of 'Stalking' Mr.Curruth and his daughter through facebook and driving past the residence.

He explained that he was looking for signs of the Curruth's actually living in one or the other residences.

I am glad none of the candidates actually stooped to publishing what was found on the facebook pages of kids and relatives.

I wanted to respond to this Mr. Heath acknowledged me with a hello as I was going through the door. Before the meeting he came up shook my hand and said hello.

I definitely give him credit for having proper decorum in public.

I think that it is very important that we all practice that especially when it comes to politics. I have always shown him and his wife respect when we are out in public, he is the sitting senator and I am old fashioned about those things.

He knows I don't agree with him on everything, and I am sure he probably believes the rumors that I am a democrat and disagree with him on everything which is not true.

In fact I agree with him on the lottery and casino gambling probably not for the same reasons. As long as we find more ways to fund education the more education will cost.

I attended and here is my report of the Pep Rally..er..debate. Within the first 60 seconds, Sen. Heath made his first misrepresentation. Recall that in his press release/challenge to Carruth, he stated that an AJC reporter had agreed to moderate the debate. In his opening, Heath introduced Steve Graddick as the moderator who is not associated with the AJC but rather a radio station in Carrollton. Heath then stated that Jim Galloway of the AJC had agreed to moderate the debate but then refused to attend because Carruth would not show. Contrary to Heath's press release/challenge, ACCORDING TO JIM GALLOWAY on Friday, he never agreed to moderate the debate and no one associated with the AJC did either. The entire thing was a political gimmick and not a well organized one either.

As many of you may know, it was implied that the event was hosted by the Chamber of Commerce; however, the Chamber issued a release that the event was not hosted by the Chamber but rather was hosted by the Heath Campaign. Again, the "debate" was a sham.

As for those in attendance, they were all Heath supporters with a handful of exceptions. I saw no folks there who were undecided. Many were bussed in from Haralson County. I would estimate that about 30-35 people were there.

As for the substance of Heath's comments, he once again made hypocritical comments about the HOPE Scholarship, TSPLOST, and the ethics pledge. On the HOPE, he mildly suggested this time that he was against the lottery, yet he said he voted for it 3 times. His comments were is stark contrast to previous comments that the funding was morally wrong and that "if given the chance" he would vote against it. Question for Mr. Heath: If the funding of the HOPE is morally wrong, then why did you vote for it?

On the TSPLOST, he claimed he justed wanted voters to have a choice.

More to follow later.

Following up on my prior post on report of the Heath pep rally last night. On the TSPLOST, will someone please ask Sen. Heath if the TSPLOST bill that he sponsored had been a 10% tax instead of 1% tax, would he have supported allowing voters to choose or would he have withheld his sponsorship of it? I have been unable to get any response from the campaign on this question.

Heath also misrepresented his prior position on the ethics pledge. First, he claimed that Common Cause is some rabid liberal organization when, in fact, it is a bipartisan organization with the Executive Director being a Republican. He also criticized the 88% of voters who supported the Republican ballot question to limit lobbyist gifts to $100 as he suggested it was some liberal Agenda 21 propaganda (my words). He claimed that he would support "meaningful" ethics reform but said that he opposed the ballot question presumably because it was meaningless. He then read and signed a pledge that he would introduce a bill at the next Legislature with almost the identical language contained in the ballot question. It is quite obvious that he read the "tea party leaves" on this issue (as it is a tea party priority) and flip-flopped on the issue, just as he flip-flopped on the TSPLOST bill.

On the stalking issue, Heath admitted again driving by Carruth's house late at night at Christmas and Easter. Didn't he have something more important to do on those days? He said he saw the lights on at Carruth's house. He also said that Carruth's daughter sent him a friend's request on FB and that he never followed her on FB except to say Happy Birthday. As a side note, I also understand that Carruth and Heath are friends on FB.

In all, Heath spent around 12 minutes defending those "false attacks" from Carruth, which actually did more to reinforce the legitimacy of the attacks than undermine them. He then spent around 5 minutes discussing the judgment and lawsuits against Carruth, along with the tax lien issues.

I do think that Heath was more articulate than I have ever heard him, and his wife was very polite to me as she always is. Overall, it is clear that this was a political gimmick and in no way was there any real attempt to negotiate the terms of the debate, venue, moderator, time, date, etc. I am sure that we will have Heathens posting photos of Carruth's empty seat with some silly comment about him not being present and ducking the public. This event was nothing more than an orchestrated charade. ONE FINAL NOTE: at the end of the debate, the moderator stated that Heath would NOT take any questions from the public but that questions could be sent to him via email. How ridiculous. Also, after the pep rally, I approached the moderator, and he admitted that he had not been asked to "moderate" until that day.

No, Rep. Braddock was not there. No one from the Legislature was there, but there were a lot of Haralson County car tags there.

Man, Pigpen, you have a set! I wouldn't have dared venture into that den of thieves. Hope you were CCW..

There is nothing that I hate more than some dickweed that claims to be a Christian and tells lies KNOWING that everyone knows he is lying.

Sorry, I fell asleep, what were we talking about?

Oh God, his voice is just droning over and over in my head!

Make it go away! Please, someone make it stop!

Never mind, I found the stop button.

(sorry Bill, but it's my truth)

You picked the wrong Bill if you want the lesser of two evils. Bill Carruth is so slimy he slithers! How can you so easily forget what he did to Paulding County? Do you LIKE paying for his little excursions to Washington and him a private citizen? Do you LIKE seeing little old ladies bilked out of their farms by him and his land-grabbing cronies? If so, you deserve what you get if he is elected - but the rest of us don't! Why don't you go to these debates where you will hear the truth - because Truth has a way of getting out no matter how you twist it and sugar-coat it. Go and hear for yourselves. And stay home on election day if you must -just don't vote for the crook Carruth!

Heath needs to sit at home. He has done nothing for Paulding. He supported Braddock whom we all know is as bad or worse than Carruth. To sum it up THEY ALL SUCK. But Heath has hung around long enough that he has started to accumulate some power and he needs to be unplugged. I can barely stomach Carruth, but Heath has to go.

BTW, this isn't the lesser of two evils. This is the least stink of two piles of dog sheeze.

your right Bill is just as slimy as they come HOWEVER... as bad as he is he is still better then Bill Heath.... so i will go and vote for slimy Bill Carruth if that is what it takes to get scum Bill Heath out. Heath would not know the truth if it hit him in the face. so hearing a debate were he is involved is
