SCOTUS Rules On Health Care Law

Recommended Posts

Says the mod, on the sixth page of a national news topic that turned political on page one......

Says the Mod who is letting the discussion go because it is still news in everyone's mind.

After the emotions wear down, all future threads will be in the Political Forum. We try to let people have their say on this sort of Big News Event.

It is a judgement call and we are doing the best we can. Some people didn't want it in the Cafe at all. Others are upset we didn't move it after about an hour. Others want it to go for a while and let everyone have their say. It is an historic ruling so we are letting it go as news for now.

We can't please everyone.

Yeah it means free reign for liberal idiots it appears.

Yeah no sheeze.

Bogey sighted!

Target locked!

Splash one! Splash one!

Stay with me, Goose.

Permission to buzz the tower?

Good, now thats behind us, Lets get to work fixing it so it will actually be beneficial for all, I am tired of the all or nothing mentality we have in congress right now.

Whoo hoo !!! I can now drop my insurance!!!! Since PIBO promised no new taxes and according to the SCOTUS this IS a tax, he obviously LIED. Remember Bush SR? Well anyway, since I will get healthcare r

LPPT, The way I remember it, the American people were mostly saying slow down, let's do this, but let's take the time to get it right. Obama did not have the votes, even in his own party, for single

You absolutely amaze me.

I make this statement regarding the Citizens United decision:

Second, only an idiot doesn't recognize that Citizens United makes a mockery of the laws regarding bribery.

... and you take it personally.

I guess if you want to take it personally I really can't stop you ... I wouldn't take it personally myself ... but hey, it is a free country :)

PS: I assumed you understood that Citizens United does give the appearance of bribery and so you wouldn't be an 'idiot.'

I'm not part of this, but I'm really getting tired of seeing Pubby and the mods getting jumped every time they turn around.

Enough all ready!

I think it stinks just to go out of one's way to be ugly and hateful. And name calling is childish!

I know I speak for all the Moderators when I say Thank You for this. We try to be fair and patient and do the best we can. We're not perfect and don't pretend to be. We don't like getting slapped around when we're just trying to keep the place in order and enjoyable for most everyone.

Thanks for recognizing that, Lucky.

It is the one-party system trying to keep folks in their places. They have this attitude of entitlement that means it is okay for them to do that because they're special.

I know you know what I'm talking about because I've heard you complain of the same sense of entitlement in some others around.

Wow! The whole force is in here.....unbelievable! Good night, can't wait to see how this ends in the morning..... I bet it still won't be in the political forum. :p

You're right. It won't be in the Political Forum. It is still News for a while. New threads will not be given the same courtesy since, after a while, it is just politics.

Health reform: New taxes, fees and penalties - Jun. 26, 2012 - http://t.co/Sl9pTh8S

And here is the part that I keep talking about but none of the Liberals here seem willing to acknowledge.

In 2014, the penalty will be no more than $285 per family or 1% of income,

whichever is greater. In 2015, the cap rises to $975 or 2% of income. And by

2016, the penalty would be up to $2,085 per family or 2.5% of income, whichever

is greater

I decided not to have insurance. So I can use the ER as my doctors office as mandated by current law. Set up a "low" monthly payment of say $100 / month. That would mean I never pay it off and do not intend to, that is just the amount I am willing and able to spend on my HC out of pocket, besides any Rx I need filled at the store. I must pay a MAXIMUM "tax" for me and my family of $2,085 (or 2.5% of income) / year for not having insurance. And for the math challenged... $2500 / year should I earn / we $100,000/ year. The minimum is based off $83,400 / year. The new law gives me immediate "coverage under Obamacare through enrollment at the ER Door should I need life saving care. So I am now covered with no payment yet. I get that care. When I feel better or the crisis is passed I just "DROP" my new plan and go back to paying my "normal "tax" until next time. So in short I get all the HC I truly need for $100 / month + $2,085 / year or a grand total of $3,285 / year. I got news for you, my copay alone on my plan is more than that. So If I self employed or my employer decided that they would rather pay the $2,000 / year "tax" for not insuring me, then I would have to cover their side as well. My plan has risen to $20,000 since Obamacare started. So Which plan do you think most low income folks are actually going to use? Do you really think that is going to save us money? This is just ANOTHER government program that transfers yet even more wealth from those of us that do work and pay to those that do not. And I am just plain sick and tired of it.:glare:

As I see it he is either a Liar or too stupid of a Constitutional Law Professor to even know what the definition of a "TAX" is. Take your pick... they are equally as bad for someone holding the highest office in the nation.dry.gif

He's a liar. Just like EVERY past President before him.

The sad thing is that as long as folks keep making this about Obama we be trucked. It needs to be about the issue, and the fact that the SCOTUS appears to have lost it's damn mind over the last couple weeks.

First off, you need to sit down for a chat with some uninsured folks and see how well they like having to depend on the ER for basic care. Hope you don't plan on ever needing a physical or having a disease, you'll be SOL. Also hope you never need a chiropractor, dermatologist, or any other specialist. Again, you'll be SOL.

Secondly, I'm not sure who the hell insures you but you're getting raped on your premiums. We've had several threads on here where people have discussed their premiums and many have stayed fairly flat the last couple of years, mine included. But guess what, if you think you're getting raped (you are), you can shop at the insurance exchange for a better policy that is more competitively priced within your budget...hell, your employer will likely do this for you.

As far as ACA "saving us money", have you ever discussed pricing with a medical professional? You have your uninsured cash customers who pay "regular price". Medicare/Medicaid can pay as little as $.17 on the dollar due to pre-negotiated rates. Insurance companies create "networks" where, again, the price of care is considerably less due to negotiated rates. These rates are negotiable because payment is assured. Once everyone is insured and different insurers attempt to negotiate the most competitive rates possible in order to attract customers, well, what do you think is going to happen to the overall price of health care?

This was a conservative idea. Now they don't like it because it was proposed by a democrat. MA has 98% of its population insured and nearly every child in the state is insured. The program is working there and serves as a great guide to how we can do this nationally.

There is nothing conservative about this Law. It will invade and control every part of our lives and the cost will assure that none of us can get the kind of care we have gotten in the past in America. It is Socialism at it's best.:(

Is Rommney care socialism?

People under Romney Care are beginning to realize that it is working, WHITEY! I think this will also be a scenario with OBAMA CARE. People will grow to like it.

The ER want have to suffer from overloads of people with no insurance; for one thing. :drinks:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

People in Massachusetts are liking Romney Care.

It's been clear for some time that Romney Care succeeded in expanding access to health care in Massachusetts. Over 95 percent of the state's residents are insured. It's also popular. A February poll found that 62 percent approved of the law, and only 33 percent disapproved. Whether it's controlling costs has been less obvious.

Wonkbook: Romneycare is working -- and Obamacare might be, too ...

More mindless uninformed liberal talking points.

If you don't have anymore to contribute to the discussion than 2 liners directed at what you assume is some huge audience of liberals you are talking to through p.com I think you should give p.com a break and call 1-800 Rush Limbaugh, he also likes to pretend that he has a huge audience of liberals listening to his rants.

We could always give you your own forum to rant at liberals, then everyone could type ditto in response to your rants.

We could also move all your little pictures and 2 liners there for folks to visit and be entertained.

We will see just how good you are if I can sell that forum to a business to advertise exclusively.

Is Rommney care socialism?

It is something that the voters in Mass. wanted. I guess that is what happens when you have a majority of voters who want something like this. It is certainly a wakeup call to Americans because we are fast getting more folks on the dole that off of it. Once they get on it they will tend to vote money out of someone else's pocket to pay for what they want. Every bit of the money used to pay for this program is time and work out of someone's life. They are being forced to pay for part of another person's life. Folks they are not related to and don't even know. It can also take away from their own family and the needs they have.

I understand that Mass. is in trouble because of the drain that their program has had on resources. We should learn from that and the failure of Europe's effort to take care of everyone. Link to show that: http://www.beaconhill.org/BHIStudies/HCR-2011/PR-HealthCareReform2011-0627.htm :(

Thanks for the advice Ms Pubby. You fit right in.
