The version my parents listen to is the cleaned up version, lol. They live in Cherry Log in Ellijay. Mostly retired people live there and they had this song cranked up at their 4th of July get together. Nothing funnier than watching a bunch of retired, white people listening to Snoop! lowrider
Lowrider, I thought you had always lived in Georgia. When did you move from Alabama? My grandparents raised me until I was 8 and my mother remarried and we moved to Duluth and made our way to Powder Springs. I was raised on a 300 acre self-sufficient farm in Alabama (had to be back in the 50's) and we had about a 300 acre farm in Powder Springs with 2 chicken houses full of layers. wcso84
Generally recognized as the first commercially produced rap song. I did like rap at one time, like 30 years ago. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diiL9bqvalo
lowrider
I always thought this was the first rap.......at least to hit the charts. But she was 1981 and the Sugarhill Gang was 1979. Learned something new. "Rapture" is a combination of new wave, disco, jazz, pop [1][2], and rap music, with the rap section forming an extended coda. While it was not the first single featuring rapping to be commercially successful, it was the first to top the charts. Its lyrics include references to hip-hop pioneers Fab Five Freddy and Grandmaster Flash. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHCdS7O248g
