Trash on the side of the road

Recommended Posts

While driving north on 92 today from 120 to the Crossroads, I was astounded at the amount of trash on the side of the road...I even saw a discarded coffee table and couch!! Who takes care of this within the county? I used to see prisoners and they did a great job - just wondering if anyone knows if this is still being done, or who to call!

We live along this stretch and it is amazing to me how people throw trash out along this road. We live about a mile from a convenience store which gives 'trashers' just enough time to throw their trash from their biscuit, cigarettes, cups, napkins, dirty diapers, whatever. Littering fines should be about $5000 - maybe that would help! Our house is quite a ways off the road, and we even had someone come into our driveway, back into our turn-around place and dump their trash there! Hello! Did that mailbox and gate not give you a hint that you were on someone's private property? Good thing there was nothing with an address on it, or it would have been returned with a sheriff's escort.

Come on people! Take a little pride in yourselves and your county!

I agree that littering is so out of control and something needs to be done

It amazes me to see a sock...what happens to the other sock...why didn't they throw them out as a pair? Why is there always a random shoe? who doesn't notice someone putting a mattress on the side of the rd

We saw a bra on the road over here by the station the other day. I just have to wonder how that happened.:pardon:

I guess we have to wait until it warms up before we'll see the prisoners out picking up garbage.

They need to be doing it in the cold, wearing bright pink and in shackles.

People need to make a point of driving by them with their children.

Instead of the sagging pants I can do 2 years standing on my head example we have now.

Watch out, yo! Peoples be callin' you The Warden, like Otis when Aunt Bea made him work while he stayed with them when the jail was full. :D :D :D

RE: litter - even if it's picked up every day, it's truly astonishing how quickly it gets dirty again. I used to live in Smyrna on a street where a lot of people walked. I would pick up trash from my yard every other day and usually got 1-2 grocery bags full. I found everything except anything valuable, including a dirty diaper. ?!?!?!?

After starting this post, I have started to notice other areas also (92 was on my way to an errand today and it REALLY stood out), but other parts of major areas look almost as bad...What part of the county is responsible for this? Is there a number we can call and request clean up? So sad...like Grandma always said, "Ya don't have to be rich to be clean!" Booo Paulding!

I like this! Could it become the new county logo? -_-

I have lived in 5 different states, Georgia is one of the worse I have ever seen in my life.

Last year at the rodeo when people got up to leave there was trash and cups at almost every seat on the bleachers. The trash cans not 20 feet away almost empty.

I see this almost everywhere I go in Paulding that people gather.

The worse thing about it, is that it was mostly families, so these people are teaching their kids to be nasty too.

I was behind a car at a light the other day and the person in the passenger seat opened the door, dumped out two large pizza boxes and closed the door and the car took off after the light changed. Pizza boxes!!! He just put them on the road next to the car and away he went! I couldn't believe my eyes!

Our neighbor (20-ish) and his friends were standing in the middle of the road talking one afternoon last summer and he was drinking out of a cup from a fast food place. I was getting my mail and when I glanced over, he threw the cup on the ground and kept talking to his friends. I walked over to his little group, picked up the cup and handed it to him and said "Hey, Txxxx, I think you dropped this". His friends all cracked up but he walked about 10 feet over to his driveway and put it in the trash can. Pissed me off.

I'm in no way excusing the actions of the pigs in our county that dump their litter all over the place (the street I live on looks like a garbage heap) but the discussion does bring up a sore spot with me. Anybody remember when our county had "convenience centers" with dumpsters where you could take your refuse and discard it for free, like some of our neighboring counties still have? Now we have to pay some private sanitation company's steadly increasing monthly rates to have them pick up our trash. The last time I checked, our county landfill was charging an outrageous minimum price to dispose of even a small amount of household trash, while Douglas county was free if you proved that you were a resident or had recyclable materials to dispose of. Wonder whose brother-in-law deal that was to get passed in Paulding. Seems like our taxes keep going up and up and our services keep going down and down.

One area that always has trash is the stretch of 278 between Old Harris Rd and Butler Industrial (between the bowling alley and Tractor Supply), and then Butler Industrial up to Ingles normally has trash on it.

After living in both sets of apartments in the center of these areas, I've figured out why: the trash compactors are in the front of the complex. ALOT of people put their trash in bags on their trunk to drop off on the way out...and then forget about it. I've watched dozens of cars turn onto 278 or Butler Industrial will two or three trash bags on their trunk/hood, which then bust all over the road.
