is this a man thing?

Recommended Posts

my husband watches the same movies over and over all the time. he even watches movies from the middle. without seeing the beginning. I have to watch a movie from the very beginning or i'll feel like i'm not seeing the whole story and I usually only watch a movie once unless it's a favorite like Sound Of Music or Sixteen Candles. It's not a problem, I just think it's odd.

Although, I must admit that I do get annoyed when he ignores what i'm saying because he's watching a movie he's seen 1000 times. now I KNOW thats a man thing!

Yes. Yes he does. If the following movies are on, my husband will be watching it for the 1,256,859th time:

Goodfellas

Scarface

Donny Brasco

Casino

The Godfathers (all)

Once Upon A Time in America

Any Chevy Chase movie (esp. the Vacation movies)

So I Married An Ax Murderer.

ETA: Sopranos (not a movie, but on A&E. And he has all seasons on DVD, so a lot of times a DVD is in)

Do you see a pattern? If I ever go missing, look for me in the ocean. I'll be wearing the cement boots.

Meant to say, unless I have seen it before, I can't start a movie from the middle.

The only movies I will watch over and over are Steel Magnolias, Terms of Endearment, Sixteen Candles and any other John Hughes film, and the Goonies. Total girl.

yep it is a man thing.. no matter how many times my husband has seen a movie he will watch it again when it comes on and he sits and tells everything that is gonna happen...

That is why he has his tv and I have mine... LOL and he hates commercials so the remote is always needing batteries LOL

oooh yea, I forgot about Steel Magnolias and The Goonies.

My husband also watches sopranos reruns. out of order when they come on A&E.

Right now he's watching Batman Begins...again.

He also quotes lines from movies he's only seen once. Then he'll look at me like I'm supposed to know what he's talking about. If I don't see a movie at least 5 times I can't quote it. My brain dosent"t work that way.

Not sure if it's a man thing....but he and I would get along just GREAT!!! I LOVE watching a GOOD movie. I'd rather spend 2 hours re-watching a classic than wasting 2 hours on a POS that Hollywood passes off as a movie. There is ONE movie though...I forget the name..."Love Happens???" Aaron Eckhart and Jennifer Anniston....very moving flick!!

But, I could watch a good Mel Gibson movie any day of the week and never get tired of it. Watched American Beauty last night...still just as enthralling as ever!

My husband does it all the time... All day every day. He DVRs movies and TV shows and does it non stop. It makes me crazy!!!!

I do it with only a few movies and the only one that I don't want to be interrupted during is A Few Good Men. Otherwise, I can leave in the middle of them.

I don't watch em, and for those who do, I doubt they watch the same episode more than once...just sayin. :pardon: Don't get me wrong, us women have our weird things too. I was just curious if it was just my husband.

As a man who love movies that were made for men, here's the way I see it. A GOOD movie is a venue to take a man away from his daily stress...it's like a mini-vacation, even if only for a couple of hours. To me, a GOOD movie is every bit as valuable as making that same tired trip to the beach every year, only it doesn't cost nothing, no bags to pack, no trip to make, no gas to burn, etc. A GOOD movie takes you away for a while into happy land. When it's over, you simply go to bed. Mission accomplished! :D

It's just the opposite in my house. I can't watch the same movies over and over, but my wife can. She will watch a movie one day and again the next.

same with me..I can watch the same movie over and over if it's one that I really liked. I can start watching it from the middle, doesn't matter..I love it. Drives my hubby and kids nuts..

Seriously, a Jennifer Anniston Movie? Did you have to adjust your maxi pad while watching? :lol:LOL. As for Mel Gibson, his DUI arrest videos and phone messages are far more entertaining than any of his movie work lately. :D

Ok - I agree with NY Gal...my husband has been cloned when t comes to the re-re-re-re-re-re-re-watching movies! The Bourne Trilogy - am sick of it. Old Westerns - ugh! Worse yet is the fact that HE doesn't remember watching a lot of the movies...my kids and I can recall scenes in the movies/plot, and he swears he's never seen it! Drives me crazy!

Oh, and don't get me started on Forrest Gump......

In our house it's both of us. We both will walk in on each other and see that the other is watching something that we have seen a 1000 times and roll our eyes. I'll make a comment like, " oh my God you're watching that again?" and she will always say" Ok I guess I'm going upstairs tonight and let you watch that again." With her it's anything from late 70's early 80's Goldie Hawn and Chevy Chase movies, to numerous dramas and suspense movies. With me it's many action flicks and westerns. We come together every now and then for a few that we like to watch together over and over as well. They are like that favorite album or Cd, I've determined it's a classic and enjoying it becomes a regular habit.
