Health Care Summit

Recommended Posts

I'm watching. :bad: How many times is He going to say he won??? This is a joke. I think the republicans are doing OK, but there is no way this is a meeting to reach an agreement. He just tried to shut John McCain down when he talked about his deal with the Pharmas.

I actually think that Obama made a mistake by cutting that deal with the Pharmas and I do agree with McCain on the points he pointed out. However, I think the purpose of this summit is to try to find the common ground that the two sides are at currently.

I'm tired of hearing - we've addressed this in this bill" when, the Dems have addressed their interpretation of the issue. I see absolutely no outreach to the Repubs and I've watched this all day - yes, I'm definitely sick - so, I'm taking this opportunity to see something instead of watching the talking points or reading the spin on what happened.

Hope you get to feeling better. I agree with you. Nothing has been accomplished.

There is no common ground. BO and family want it their way with no compromise, period. It is his way or the highway.

They should work on small pieces and then get the libs back to work on getting people back to work.

BO and family are a joke.

Well, we're in the last 30 minute stretch.....have had to switch to computer feed 'cuz they cut away. For the most part - from my wasted day on the sofa - there are actually some intelligence on both sides - minimal, but it's there. However, there is no way in you know where that the Dems are going to change a thing. Throughout the day, there has been NO democrat that was open. They feel as if they have touched on everything the Repubs want and just because none of it is the exact way the repubs want it, so what. I've seen passion - some. What I don't like is sitting her seeing people who have been in office since the days of JFK. I've sat and read thru what's online - NO I haven't left the sofa except to pee & get more gatorade - just from what I see, Georgia already cannot afford Medicaid/Peachcare and these mandates impose more responsibility with no ideas of how to pay for it - so, we all know where it's coming from. The states can "opt out", but with fines and penalties in the long run. No one is addressing tort reform nor fraud because they feel as if that's minimal - I say anything is better than nothing on fraud/reform, but hey. This cannot be resolved in this one day. I think I'm now depressed on top of having a tummy bug - Mrsdavej

I don't care for Obama either, BUT by God the republicans had their chance to do something for years and all they could do was stuff their own pockets. Isakson and Chamblis are about as worthless as tits on a boar hog. Until the republicans do something shut the hell up about Obama. (I owe you a shut up from the other day so to hell with ya).

We have no term limits............we need to work on that. :)

Here are the other things that could use some work:

I got this in an email and I don't know who to give credit but it said to pass it on.

Congressional Reform Act of 2010

1. Term Limits: 12 years only, one of the possible options below.

A. Two Six year Senate terms

B. Six Two year House terms

C. One Six year Senate term and three Two Year House terms

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

2. No Tenure / No Pension:

A congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

3. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security:

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund moves to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, Congress participates with the American people.

4. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan just as all Americans.

5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

6. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

7. Congress must equally abide in all laws they impose on the American people.

8. All contracts with past and present congressmen are void effective 1/1/11.

The American people did not make this contract with congressmen, congressmen made all these contracts for themselves.

That is absolutely the best plan I've heard in years. It should not be a career, they are to serve the people not themselves.

In O's closing remarks, he likened this to Walmart being able to negotiate better deals than the mom & pop store on the corner. Not cool.....We all know what Walmart has done to the mom & pops

Yeah, and what the federal government has done to everything they have ever touched.

We do…it’s called vote their arse out if they have been there over.... I don’t know... 5 years? ;) Problem is ... voters don't!

Sounds good to me except for the 12 years! I think 12 years may be too many.

It seems that too many politicians start to become part of the corrupt machine into about the 4th to 6th year. I think as they know yet another election is on the horizon… and it is so expensive to run a campaign …they succumb to those powers that can give them large dollars in advance of that time. The placation of lobbyist, unions, large corporations, and such... become the way to re-election. Then it becomes a way to take thier soul, and once the have allowed their vote to be bought... then they find other ways to line thier pockets with sweetheart deals and other conflicts of interest.

Nope, not shutting up about BO and the liberal socialists who have done ZERO for the economy, job creation, and have racked up more debt than any past President in the first year, not to mention to ability to work with Republicans. Furthermore, have lied since day one; so many lies I have lost count. Brought on the most radical administration of socialists, commies, and marxists. They have, since day one, ignored the American people's wishes on nearly every subject. Moreover, they changing symbols to salute the Annoited One, appeasing terrorist nations, are weak on defense, among other things.

Obama is a complete failure. The only reason why he and liberals are so into passing healthcare is because they cannot do anything else right. Republicans have entered their own version of healthcare and has been ignored by the mainstream media and the power hungry liberals.

So complain about what the Repubs have or have not done. At least they know the Constitution is and what it stands for. Their only job is make the laws to make sure it is equal for everyone, not control people's lives. That was never the intent of the Constitution. You should read it sometimes. 8) The governments job is to provide incentives with the private markets to create solutions as in promoting the welfare of the state; not control it.

Healthcare issues can be improved by not by government alone, no matter who is in office or Congress.

What we see here is the Demo attempt to "control" and not improve anything.

A 2000 plus bs healthcare bill or a 300 page bill. You decide. 8)

P.S. I wall slam BO at every chance I get "unless" he actually gets off his high horse, stops campaigning, follows the Constitution, stops lying, stops the spending(which is actually the dems in Congress), stops appeasing terroristic nations, derailing our intel agencies job to protect us, pandering to enemies of the state both internal and external, halts his arrogance, works on creating jobs, works to improve the economy, works with Repubs to come to a common sense healthcare initatives, stops blaming GW and everyone else for his failures, THEN, I may back off. However, to be honest, I see him do nothing about any of this. ^_^

I am convinced that this was set up so 0bama could do some more campaigning. He has done more talking than anyone else. Go home already, you accomplished nothing.

That is all it is, grandstanding and more bs while more people lose their homes, lifesavings and everything else. :angry2:

He traded the opportunity to negotiate pharmaceutical prices in perpetuity for an 80 billion dollar Ad campaign with Big Pharma.

In my opinion he did make a mistake with this.

I think this is a classic symptom of a common and age old condition among politicians of both parties in DC, called flimflam. In this case the specific strain is called pharmaceutical company flimflam, or PCF for short. Brought on by big money and lobbyists. But then, there is a pill for that, ya know.

Every time I hear or see Obama talk I feel a violent and sudden urge to throw up! I know the word hate is a very strong word but I really do hate Obama. These people are all arguing over healthcare when we still have people losing their houses and are out of work!

Bottom line when it comes to healthcare for me is this.

1. Is it going to cost me more money in premiums?

2. Am I going to be taxed more to give people healthcare?

If either of these are answered with yes then I don't want it.

It is not my responsibility to provide healthcare to everyone else. I hope this doesn't go through and I hope we (republicans) take back the house and the senate in November so we can stop this idiot from doing anymore damage to our country!

What planet are you from? There is no common ground in healthcare. A general statement of "we need to overhaul healthcare" is not common ground.

Anyone who disagrees with the President's approach is merely "complaining about Obama" in the view of the left. Despite claims to be famously open-minded, they consistently refuse to see the alternate point of view, preferring to categorize all opposition as obstruction rather than as a desire to progress TOWARD A DIFFERENT TARGET that addresses the issue differently.

There are mutually exclusive principles in play. Again -- the democrats and the President want compromise to be an issue of "how far" we should go down the path they have chosen, rather than actually discussing "which way" we should go in the first place.

Today showed that Republicans actually have had an alternative plan for months and have the numbers to back up their approach, and it also showed that the democrat leadership is in denial about it.

That is all.

So are you admitting that the republicans had their chance and did NOTHING? Are you also admitting that Chambliss and Isakson are worthless as tits on a boar hog?

You never address any of the shortcomings of the republicans and what they can do to turn the country around. All I ever see you do is bitch about Obama.

If the Republicans had gotten off their asses and gone to work for the citizens of this country instead of trying to fluff their bank accounts Obama's narrow ass wouldn't be in office now.

I hold the republicans responsible for Obama being in office.
