Alta Austin Shipp, age 79, of Hiram, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2009. She was born on August 28, 1930, in Hiram, GA, to the late Noah & Eunice Austin. Mrs. Shipp was a member of Cochran Ridge Baptist Church.

 

Survivors include, husband of 61 years, Reverend Sam Shipp, of Hiram; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy & Tom Cranford of Port St. Joe, Florida, and Wanda & Tom Marietta of Douglasville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph & Thelma Austin of Dallas, and John Starlyn & Linda Austin of Martin, GA; sisters and brother-in-law, June Bone of Dallas; Betty & Taylor Phillips of Hiram, and Elaine Gipson of Powder Springs; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. from Cochran Ridge Baptist Church with Reverend Rick Eaves, Reverend Marvin Gunter, and Reverend Charles Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Flint Hill Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, December 28, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ridge Road Baptist Church Building Fund at P.O. Box 1046, Hiram, GA 30141.
