A beloved teacher of mine from Union Elementary School passed away and I have no contact information for the family. If someone out there is aware of the arrangements, please post them so we can send our condolences to the West family. Janet was the sweetest woman I have ever met.

Mrs. Janet Lewis West, age 61 of W. Hickory Level Road, Temple died January 19, 2009. Mrs. West was born in Milledgeville, Georgia on July 26, 1947 the daughter of Alvin and Mattie Kathryn Hodges Lewis. She graduated from Putnam County High School in Eatonton, Georgia. She received her BA and a Masters from West Georgia College. She was a member of Phi Kappa Phi Sorority, and a member of the Red Hautes Society. She retired from teaching in Paulding County School System after 30 years . She continued to mentor teachers, was a substitute teacher and was very interested in Early Child Care Prevention in Pre-K and Elementary Education. She loved being a grandmother to her grandson and enjoyed bowling. Surviving are her husband, David West, daughter, Krista West, grandson, Aidan David West, all of Temple stepson, Mark Harris and Sharon West, all of Temple, step grandchildren, Eric and Curtis West, Joe Stone, Kimberly Griffin, sister, JoAnn and John Keller, Smyrna, brothers, Hodges Lewis, Savannah and Lon and Joy Lewis, St Simons, numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday, at the funeral home from 6 to 8 pm. A private Memorial Service will be Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 11 AM at Almon Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Cook Officiating. Memorial Contributions may be made in the name of Janet Lewis West to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite, 1687 Tullie Circle NE, Atlanta, GA 30329.
