No. Once they arrived I didn't really hear anything else. Unfortunately, alot of med calls started coming in. Another off the same road for a man who fell and broke his ribs.

There was also a man who fell off of a 15 ft ladder at a new subdivision construction site. He was in really bad shape. They had to call life flight for him. This was at Sweetwater Church Rd. and Baker's Bridge. He was partially paralyzed at the moment, having chest pains and alot of other things going on with him. All 3 of these were going on at the same time, and I was having trouble keeping up with the scanner traffic between phone calls at work.

Sorry. If someone wants to go back and listen to everything going on in the last 45 minutes or so, they could probably get more info on these things.

Sooooo sad. Prayers for all those people. :(

Question, though...where does one get FORTY morphine patches????

If he was on meth, then he was part of the drug world. Believe me, there is alot of things available out there. Cancer patients or whatever get prescriptions for it, and sometimes people who know you have them, will break in and steal them and then sell them. Not saying that is what happened, but I know it does happen.

Not to mention the fact that we are now in "Pain is what the patient says it is" era. It is quite easy to get pain meds now. Pain clinics and frequently changing doctors or seeing lots of "specialists." These are key in legal pain med distribution. And it is rampant!!

Yep. Very true. I see this first hand. I know people who do this. They go from one pain clinic to another and one pharmacy to another, load up on oxycotin or whatever, and then sell them on the streets. I don't know how they have been doing for as many years as they have.

It constantly suprises me how little people actually know and drugs and the reasons behind the the people who do the things that cause so much gossip.

Unfortunately, most of us know someone who is addicted or abuses drugs. How would explain the person having 40 morphine patches on him? You are right in the fact that we don't know the circumstances of THIS individual, and no names were given, and I for one said "IF" the man is on meth, and part of the drug world, he probably knew how to get them. No one claimed to know facts on how THIS man was able to get them. We don't even know who he is.

Actually, if you listen to the scanner archives, the med call stated that those who called this in believed the man to be on meth. Dallasgirl wasn't speaking out of turn.

Right, and I included that in the original information from the call. And it was his employers or co-workers who said he had approx. 40 morphine patches on him. And because they said he "may" be on meth, then I said "if" it was true.

I don't think anyone made any assumptions about this individual, we were just discussing in general how he MAY have been able to get them.

I didnt deny the man was on meth, he probably was. I was speaking more on the lines of "Yep. Very true. I see this first hand. I know people who do this. They go from one pain clinic to another and one pharmacy to another, load up on oxycotin or whatever, and then sell them on the streets. I don't know how they have been doing for as many years as they have"

It happens every day, and the police don't do too much about it.

I did say that, because I know a couple personally who has been doing this for years. I have known them for 16 years, and they have been doing it the entire time I have known them. They have raised one of their son's to be the same way. The things that they do to get these medications is unbelievable to me. They abuse these medications horribly, and get such an abundance of them, still have extra to sell. They are in their mid 50's and look like they are in their mid 80's from abusing them for that long.

Remember the police chase that took place in Rockmart about 6-8 weeks ago, and was discussed on here. Well, that was their son. He first stole his girlfriend's car, then stole his father's pistol, then went to the gas station and stole some gas, and then went to either a liquor store or a pawn shop and held them at gun point. A police chase is how this ended, with him trying to run over the officers. He is sitting in Paulding County jail right now. And guess what. He was detoxing up there, so what did this lovely mother do? She tried to use her grandbaby (7 yrs old) to hide some oxycotin outside of the jail in some bushes, where the "trustee" was supposed to pick them up and take them inside to him. But she was busted doing it, so momma and baby boy were both sitting in there. She is now facing a butt load of felony charges, and it serves her right. All of this is a chain of events because of being addicted to pain medications, from going from one doctor after another, getting prescriptions and then going to one pharmacy after another. The lady used to work in Cobb County lunchrooms, for the insurance, to be able to afford their habit. Now tell me why the insurance company paid for so many years. They finally caught on, and they dropped them. Now they find other illegal ways to go about getting them. And those pills come before their electric bill, water bill, car insurance, license renewals, and any other necessities. As long as they have those pills, they will do without the rest.

I am not sure if you were accusing me of making up a story, but maybe with all of that info, you now know that I wasn't. Or if you still believe that I was, then I have one HELL of an imagination.

A lot of us DO know people who do this. It's not uncommon, especially in this county. It happens and it's real. I don't know anyone who gets oxy specifically but I do know several people who have severaldifferent pill addictions. I know a few people that actually go to the same doctor to get the pills but others just buy them off of someone else.

Well, just to put it out there, I've seen ALOT of pillheads and theyre usually not meth heads. Theyre usually mid-30's middle class married females with kids and part time jobs. Just sayin......

I never said pill heads had to be meth heads. The information given in the phone call, said the co-workers believed he was on meth, and he had 40 morphine patches on him. Nowhere in this entire post does it say that pill heads had to be meth heads. That is also NOT to say, that one doesn't go along with the other MANY times. Guess what. I am in a CMA meeting atleast twice a week, and most of those meth heads, also did pills. Just because the ones you know don't do both (that you know of) doesn't mean it ain't happening. I'm just saying.....
