Echols

Mr. Robert Lumpkin “Bob” Echols, age 84, of Hiram, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2007. He was born on November 22, 1922 in Hiram, GA to the late Thomas Lumpkin and Sara Hardy Echols. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of Bartlett Masonic Lodge #139. Mr. Echols spent most of his career as an aircraft inspector with Lockheed Martin Corporation in Marietta, retiring after 35 years with the company. He was a life long member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Lillian Clay Echols; a son, Harold T. Echols of Hiram; a daughter, Pam Sturkie of Hiram; a sister, Grace Sheffield of Hiram; grandchildren, Matthew T. Echols, Katie E. Harrison and Brent D. Fowler; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 23, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. from Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Hiram, GA with Dr. Tim Walker and Reverend Don Rackley officiating. The interment will follow in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Becky Strickland Echols Memorial Scholarship Fund, P. O. Box 2004, Hiram, GA 30141. Clark Funeral Home in Hiram, GA is in charge of arrangements.
