I am right there with you. I am already thinking about dinner also. I tried to see if anyone had a recipe for a vegetable stew with hamburger meat last week, but no one had one. I have had it before but don't remember who made it. It would be real good with some corn bread.

Hmm, let's see. How about chili, shephard's pie, hamburger soup? I think someone was looking for the hamburger soup recipe, so here is one.
Easy Hamburger Soup

Satisfying soup makes about 6 servings at about 200 to 250 calories each.

* 1 pound lean ground beef
* 1 cup chopped onions
* 1/2 cup cubed potatoes
* 1 cup sliced carrots
* 2/3 cup diced celery
* 1 cup shredded cabbage
* 8 ounces tomato sauce
* 1/4 cup uncooked long-grain rice
* 1/2 teaspoon dried leaf thyme, crumbled
* 1 bay leaf
* 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
* dash cayenne pepper
* 3 beef bouillon cubes or equivalent granules or base
* 1 1/2 quarts water (6 cups)
* 1/2 cup frozen peas

Brown ground beef and onion in a Dutch oven or soup pot sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. Drain off excess fat. Add potatoes, carrots, celery, cabbage, and tomato sauce. Bring to a boil. Add rice, thyme, bay leaf, salt, cayenne, bouillon, and water. Cover and simmer for 50 minutes. Add peas and cook another 5 to 10 minutes.
Ladle hamburger soup into bowls and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
Hamburger Soup serves 6.

Is this kind of what you are looking for?
Ground beef stew, made with lean ground beef or ground round, minced onion, tomatoes, and Lima beans, along with onions and seasonings.
INGREDIENTS:

* 1 pound ground round or very lean ground beef
* 1 to 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
* 1 tablespoon instant minced onion
* 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
* 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
* 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
* 1 1/2 teaspoons Gravy Master or Kitchen Bouquet browning sauce
* 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
* 1 can (15 ounces) Lima beans, drained
* 1 can or jar (12 to 16 ounces) small whole onions, drained

PREPARATION:
In a large skillet, brown the ground round, stirring and breaking up, in a little oil; pour off grease. Add the instant onion, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, browning sauce, and tomatoes. Bring to a boil.

Thanks. Both of those beef soup recipes sound great. I can throw some hamburger meat and vegetables together, but never have the seasonings right. I appreciate the help.

For my beef soup I season it with season salt and pepper. You also can take 3 tablespoons of peper juice and put in it there.

If you go over to the seasoning section of the grocery store, McCormicks has a "Bag-n-seasonings" for meatloaf, pork chops, bbq chicken, pork loin and lots of things. Just get some hamburger meat and this stuff. There is nothing else you need. I make lots of things with these, because they come with everything you need and cook perfectly. You cook them in the bag and it holds all the juices in. Try that for your first meat loaf. I promise your family will love it. My kids are so picky, and want everything pretty plain, but they love this. You just mix the seasoning with some milk and an egg and thats it. If you try it, let me know what you think.

Women have to prepare early so we can go get what is needed and have everything when it is time to start cooking. Sometimes you have to stop at the store on the way home from work.

Do you sautee and then chill the green beans or do you serve them warm? Sounds good either way.

I serve them warm. I actually slice the cherry tomatos and add them to the pan for about 1 minute...just enough to heat them through. Then I remove from the pan and toss with the crumbled feta. Really simple and delicious! Oh, and healthy too!

Mussels stuffed with mushrooms, onion, garlic and parsley covered with melted parmesean cheese.

Duck liver pate, finished with a nice cognac.

Duck Breast canapes with arugula and melted goat cheese.

A whole side of cold smoked salmon.....

Lamb meatballs with Tzezeki sauce, pitas, and hummus

Carpacio of Top Beef Round

Picante Shrimp Dip

A HUGE Cheese platter with brie, chamembert, several different blues, edam, asagio, feta.....

Pear Tart, and various fresh fruit.

The wines will range from dry Cava, some dry crisp whites, cote du rhone, duoro from Portugal, as well as Argentina, Chile, Italy, Spain and France.

Anyone interested send me a PM.....$75 per couple payable to the American Heart Association....100% of what is collected goes to AHA... smile.gif
