I got this idea from Ellen's chicken thread......what do y'all think of a fall m & g where some folks bring say a main dish and a pack of caned drinks and others brink a veggie and desert and others can bring a couple of paper goods (napkins, plates, forks/spoons/knives)

Everyone can bring some chairs and a table if you have 1, several people bring coolers for caned cokes. It would be like 1 big ol family reunion, or at least it would be like 1 of my family reunions.

The only other thing I can think of is where could we have this?? Does anybody have a big, open, flat, and hopefully shady field?? <---- I guess it would be hard to have an open and shady field....some trees would be fine just not a field of trees lol

Am I forgetting anything??

It sounds like fun to me, what do y'all think??

Sounds like fun, but I have no idea where to meet. I need to be careful about how many people I meet on here. Too many and I will have to stop being such a jerk on here. laugh.gif

Why not have it in one of the public parks? Sounds like a nice idea.

It sounds like a great idea!

Problem is that with 3 kids playing soccer, SHORTER HAWKS football & soccer games . . . well, there ain't much spare time left to have it.

Maybe a Sunday afternoon . . . maybe at Duncan park @ Paulding Meadows? Or Picketts Mill? Or Sarah Babb?

Maybe Jabez's house? (Hah! Told her that payback was rough!)

Ummm sure... but I have pet snakes, and a 165 lb guard dog that loves me to no end and if I tell him to eat someone... well let's just say, there aren't any witnesses! ninja.gif

Myrlyn, as for your idea, I think it's great!!! I think if you can find a park to have it at would be better, I like Paulding Meadows or Picket's Mill. You pick a date and set it and people will come! Maybe sometime in October!! wink.gif

I believe if we held this as a charity event and passed the hat for a HeartWalk donation, we could get the pavilion at Pickets Mill for free. Gemman ?

If not, we could have it at my place....

i think alot of people feel more comfortable at a public place as opposed to somebody's home.

also i think a charity event is different from a meet and greet and we may get more people to come to a m/g jmho and i think we need somebody to make some killer biscuits. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

to be honest I had thought about a bucket for everyone to throw a few dollars in to go to p.com. I don't think I have ever been to Picketts Mill so I don't really know whats it's like. I don't really care where it's at I just thought it sounded fun.

Froggy I think Popeye's has some killer biscuits, does anybody know the manager and could get us a great deal????

Do y'all think a Sat. or Sun. would be better?? I thought Sat. would be better cuz church is on Sun. but it does not make a difference to me.

I'm for Paulding Meadows, but Picketts Mill would be fine too. I'll bring twinsister with me and maybe my hubby. (He still does not understand my Pcom addiction.)

Saturday or Sunday is good for me. I want to meet ya'll. Just give me a date and time. Hubby has a boy scout camp out one weekend in Sept, but my weekends are open

Y'all just let me know. I'm just happy to be here!

If we do it on Sunday, we MUST remind everyone to buy their alcohol on Saturday . . . can't forget about the Relgious Law trying to force everyone to observe a "drink or feast or worship or moon or sabbath" day, despite the fact Paul expressly said do NOT judge in those kind of things . . .

personal preferences for me, and this doesn't mean I definitely wouldn't come if it were different....just my opinions....

I think people are more likely to come if they don't have to spend money....or feel obligated....although I am not opposed to a donation hat if it is a "no pressure" thing.

I prefer indoors to outdoors as I don't prefer bugs in my food, but that is just me....and Picket's Mill is indoors but people could eat outside too

I prefer a Saturday to a Sunday, but I prefer no alcohol if it is a family oriented event. If there is alcohol, I'd just rather it be an evening event with adults only...but I might or might not attend...depends. I know a lot of people would rather not come as a family if there is alcohol involved.

Again, these are simply my opinions since that is what the thread was asking about....

Oh are kids going to be there? Can we have a children section? If not can I bring mine. They have four legs each. See my avtar.

Just kidding, no dogs should come even if I feel like I gave birth to them.

I also think that it should be hassle free. By that I mean everyone clean up after themselves and no decorations and such to have to set up.

I just want to meet people and eat. Simple get together.

Do ya'll wear name tags at the meet and greets or how do you know who is who cause I want to meet Leslie, but I don't want her sneeking up behind me. LOL I may have a t-shirt on with a misspelled word.

Indoor is fine with me but I figure somewhere indoors is gonna cost some $$$. I agree about the alcohol, can't we have a get together without drinking?? As far as the p.com money thing I just tought we could set out some sorta thing where you could drop a dollar or 2 in (if ya want)...there has been a lot of talk about needing money. It would not be a pay or don't come kinda thing.

no date set yet...we need to decide if we want Sat or Sun. I can't do it Sept 9th or the 1st weekend in Oct. I think it's around the 6th or so is a cub scout camp out.

I want to meet more of y'all so bad, but I can't get my hubby to leave the house. I know he would really enjoy it once he got to the event. It's getting him there is my problem. The only way I can imagine him considering is if someone he already knew insisted. I am sure he already knows alot of you but doesn't know it(he knows everybody). The only one I know for sure that he knows is Lara(heartstar). If she reads this maybe she could call him and demand that he show up.

I dont think anyone would have a problem, or you could do a goodie bag with all their info, that worked out for us this past week. It was less hassle to set up/take down and everyone still got info.

If you guys want to consider getting the paviliion at Duncan Meadows/Paulding Meadows, or at Pickett's Mill and making this into a HeartWalk fund raiser, I will make the arrangements to obtain several cases of split broilers to cook.

I am pretty sure I could get some other meats as well.

Any comments....the donations to Paulding County Heartwalk could be purely voluntary and be whatever anyone wants to give.

I'd go but I'd have the kids

'It's me again, Margaret...
Hello, is this Margaret?
Margaret, I know it's you, Margaret
Are you naked?

And when I get out, Margaret
I'm going to come over there with an egg beater
And a live chicken, and some peach preserves!
We'll have a good old time, Marga

Other than that I have nothing to do - except work, take care of the kid, go to school conferences - keep up with the pets - mind my manners and watch my backside! Did I leave anything out ?laugh.gif

I really love the potluck idea. I am a very picky eater, so I like variety so there is bound to be SOMETHING there I will eat. The last one we had at Pickett's Mill I ended up going but not eating....
