I  will have to disagree with you on Trump and the wall. Why did other Presidents say "We need a wall?' and if they put a huge wall there, no wouldn't stop everyone but might help.If walls are useless then why does Obama, Clintons, everyone that has money, build them around their houses. Some people cant afford them, so the wall at the border will surely help. But you are right about one thing, Trump would have done what he said he would do and some people don't want him to get ahead. I don't think this would be a monument to Trump, this is the  people that want the wall. If you go look at the "Gofundme"  there is a lot of people that give there. so it is not just Trump wanting to build the wall. Happy New year to you also.

OK fair enough and let’s just address one part of the wall concept. You are right about other Presidents supporting a wall. In 2006, Bush authorized about 700 miles of a “wall.” Now, for arguments sake let’s say our southern border is 2000 miles (it’s really +- 1954 miles) building an effective wall covering 2000 miles is a far cry from building a wall around your own property. I didnt minus out the Bush wall of 700 miles because trump has said it’s too little so I’m sure he would want to include that 700 miles in “his” wall. This is my problem with the wall concept, you can go over and under a wall. Drones and tunnels. I would much rather see that money spent on beefing up our on the ground coverage with ICE as well as beefing up our visa follow up. The wall only addresses our southern border issues while beefing up our visa follow up would cover world wide. To me, that just seems a much more effective solution.

As to the “trump monument” concept. I stand by my opinion on this. Why? Because, on his hotels as well as his office buildings, he includes, in big lights, his name. Take as an example “333 Park Ave Hotel” being turned into “TRUMP 333 Park Ave Hotel” or something like that. He is known, pretty much worldwide, as a egomaniac. When I stayed in Atlantic City, I could see his hotel/casino from my room. His name was in gigantic lit up letters with hurrahs (or whatever) was in much smaller letters under the trump name. But whatever. This is too small of a point for us to split hairs over.

Saudi Arabia has built walls along its borders with Iraq and Yemen.  Turkey is building one along its border with Syria.  Nobody is condemning them.

The inclusion of these middle eastern border walls into this conversation muddies the water to such a degree that our issues with our southern border get lost. If you have a specific point you want to make, why not set it out and back up with facts? Like, for instance, aren’t the Saudis and Iraq at war? How many miles are involved? Who is paying for these walls?

It's surprising what Republicans find acceptable. For instance chopping journalist into little pieces seems to be just fine. poisoning people on foreign soil gets their approval and murdering one's relatives in airports are just no big deal,

Still if you're going to sell this thing I'm not certain that bragging that Saudi Arabia and Turkey has one so we should have one too. Saudi Arabia has a curtain draped building they march around for a week you want one of those too ?

Refresh my memory please. The majority of the 9/11 hijackers were from which country?

Oh wait , I've got this. It was the same country who's crown prince apparently ordered the murder and dismembering of a legal American citizen.

No one finds that acceptable.

I could turn that around and say it's surprising what Democrats find acceptable For instance, Ambassador Stevens being raped, shocked with a cattle prod, beaten and then drug through the streets until dead. Or two Marines being killed while trying to protect him.

How's it feel?

Regarding the lies....yeah, Trump lies. And both Clintons lie, and Obama lies, etc. The difference in the numbers count s mostly due to the type of lies and the level of scrutiny that is being used. For example: a lot of Trump's lies are his frequent exaggerations. Technically still lies, but Clintons and Obama did the same thing without the media keeping track of every little misspeak.

If we were comparing apples to apples; Obama would have at least as many lies on the tally as Trump does. No, I'm not approving of any of them, but I am calling you out on your double standard. I don't recall you taking issue with Obama's lies or Hillary's lies. Obama is still lying his butt off; he's out there on the "campaign trail" (campaigning for a legacy, it seems) taking credit for the booming economy.

Truth is...most of us on the conservative side (notice I didn't identify us as Republicans) have plenty of issues with Trump. But we know that most of them make him no worse than his predecessor or the Democratic nominee for president. Even if we wanted to criticize the man here, we'd have to stand in line behind you guys that hate his guts.

Refresh my memory.

The hijackers were trained to fly air liners in OUR country under which president?

The same president is on video admitting that the Saudis offered to turn bin Laden over to him a couple of years prior to 9/11, but he declined to take custody of him. .

Oh yeah, that was Bill Clinton.

Perhaps some of your righteous indignation should be spread to certain Democrats along with Republicans.

No, pubby. Unlike the faithful followers of the donkey butt, we conservatives see that Trumps lies, while bad, are no worse than than those of the Democrat's.

That's the difference between you and me; I see rottenness on both sides, where you only see it from Republicans because you worship your Democratic Party.

I know I said I wasn't going to post any more on here. But a woman has the right to change her mind lol I wonder if every President has went thru this? And when did people start acting like school kids, putting someone down, cant like the president, etc. These people that have kids and Grandkids surely hear all this hate. and pattern after the parent then when they do it ??? "Which side does that kid take after?"   You couldn't give me all the money in the world to be President. you have to say one thing about Donald Trump, no other man would take what he has had to endure since he has been in office. And its not for the money, he had plenty of that.

So why cant people just leave it alone? He will be there for 4 yrs. and if he gets re-elected another 4 yrs. Let the man do his job. If it turns out well then o.k. If not?? then we wont be in any worse shape than we was in already. Instead of all this bickering and nitpicking. I bet some people could come up with some good ideas for our country.  The man hadn't got in the door before  some people wanted to impeach him. but mostly the ones that was losing the food stamps and that check every month.   Goodnight everyone ..

84  "lies", if that's what you want to call them, over a period of 8 years in office.

As of 649 days in office Mr. Trump had reached 6,420 outright lies or misleading statements.

During the midterms he was lying to the American people an average of 30 times a day.

On oct 22 while at a Huston rally he told his supporters 83 falsehoods in one day, a record even for Trump.

Believe it?  I have trouble understanding his rambling, circular doublespeak.  If he cared enough to pay attention to what he says, no doubt he would have trouble understanding it, too.

It is rather silly to suggest that people YOU don't know personally feel hate toward someone THEY don't know personally.  There are either many who don't  really know what hate is, or don't possess the vocabulary to use a more appropriate term.  There are plenty others to pick from:  displeased, appalled, embarrassed, confused, suspicious, ashamed, disgusted and yes, angry, to name a few.

I don't know Trump, nor do I care enough about him to hate him although I have not ever particularly liked him.  My opinion of him is based on the fact that he is a serial adulterer, his business ethics and practices questionable at best, he is blatantly dishonest, hypocritical, and lacks self-restraint.   We don't even know if he pays his income taxes.  We do know he doesn't always pay others to whom he owes money.

His only concern is his ego and the image he projects.  He will never put the country ahead of himself.

What, besides his anti-immigration stance, are all these good ideas of which y'all speak?

I agree with many of the things you wrote about Trump.  He's definitely a shady character...no question.  He's also the President of the United States.

His immigration stance is anti-illegal immigration as should be case for everyone.  Other good ideas....tax cuts, cutting regulations, and SCOTUS picks.

Some of you will be surprised to learn that cptlo was an adamant Never Trumper. I was too, up until the general election, and then pragmatism won out because I knew that either Hillary or Trump was going to win, and Hillary would have been an epic disaster that would make Trump look like an angel.

The difference between people like us (cat dude and myself) and some of you here is that er judge Trump issue by issue, and fairly at that. He's done many good things, and some not so good. The tariffs are still looking iffy, he's made some poor staffing choices, he can't seem to shut up, etc. On the plus side, he's done some very good things. Tax cuts, SCOTUS picks, regulation rollback, his stance on illegal immigration, tough on national security, etc.

Many of you here have such a partisan hatred for t he guy that you can't possibly be fair in your judgement of him. In your eyes, he is the debil and does every single thing wrong. Well, that's just not true.

That's why I so often say we should all walk away from the partisan crap and make our own decisions.

He's also the President of the United States.

Of all the crap used to defend the "stable genius" we have in the WH that one is the worst. Hitler was the president of Germany, how many Jews do you suppose ever said "well,he is the president" ? Of course in every society there are always plenty of folks like you that will blindly follow their leader to hell and back. They'll shove whole families into gas chambers, fly suicide missions into aircraft carriers and starve millions in labor camps. And when it's over and sanity replaces the insane they will answer with excuses almost as lame as "He was our president".

Yea Trump's the president so trucking what ?

Of all the crap used to defend the "stable genius" we have in the WH that one is the worst. Hitler was the president of Germany, how many Jews do you suppose ever said "well,he is the president" ? Of course in every society there plenty of folks like you that blindly follow their leader to hell and back. They shove whole families into gas chambers, fly planes loaded with H.E. into aircraft carriers and starve millions in work camps.

You are an idiot.  Yes, that is an insult and it is warranted.

Some of you will be surprised to learn that cptlo was an adamant Never Trumper.

To the dismay of many of my conservative friends. :)

I didn't vote for Trump in 2016 and I'm not sure I'll vote for him in 2020.  I know for a fact I won't vote for the democrat socialist nominee.

Paranoid schizophrenia would be my guess.

That's why them always calling us "Trump lovers" just because we don't share their hate for him is so stupid. To them, it's either hate the guy or love the guy; there's no middle ground.

My intellect and sense of fairness is better than that.

Agreed.  My opinions of Trump are in many posts on this site and many, perhaps most, of those opinions are negative.  But yet, I am apparently one of his followers "that will blindly follow their leader to hell and back" and "shove whole families into gas chambers, fly suicide missions into aircraft carriers and starve millions in labor camps."

Again, Cain is an idiot.

Does he owe you money? A serial adulterer? not a man out there that hasn't tried something in his day. I could care less about his sex life, it has nothing to do with this country. No we don't know if he pays his income tax. It is none of our business as long as he protects the country and puts America first. We never seen Obama birth certificate. or his tax papers either. It really had nothing to do with how he done his job.I have never heard him lie or be hypocritical or lacking in  self restraint. So tell me where you heard all this and maybe I will start watching your Donald Trump and my President Donald Trump. I don't know how true this is , but someone said they were going to impeach him the first day he got in office?? Well if they was ?? just seems to me that someone had something to hide and was afraid the President might find out about it. What do you think? All I have heard is how much he was liked for his character, etc. before he ran for President.

I will try to answer your question "What besides his anti- immigration stance, are all these good ideas of which y`all speak?" I voted for him because ,didn't have much choice if I wanted to vote. I sure wouldn't have voted for a woman that was going to destroy the constitution, and says that a woman could have an aboortzion at 9 months if she chose to.  I started listening too the debates at first all I heard was Donald Trump trying to defend himself, so I thought we are doomed. Then the next time he talked of how he would protect the country, the people here come first, he wouldn't touch our S.S. So I felt somewhat better voting for him. so far he has done what he said he would do. Obama said we were going to war with N. Korea, Obama said we would never have manufacturing jobs here, someone would have to wave a magic wand. Jobs picked up, I got a raise on my S.S. Trump was soft spoken, believes in God.  God told Nehemiah to put a wall around Jerusalem to protect the people . So Trump is doing his darndest to build the wall. I have never heard any man put down as much as I have this man and for what? I notice no one points out what he has done or hasn't done, it is only he is a liar how many lies he tells and adulterer,  how he pitches his temper tantrums etc. I may get in trouble for my view on this but you did ask. This is what was took off of my other post.

He will never put the country before himself?? This makes me laugh, That man has been thru hell since he got in office and you can say that? I get up everyday wondering if he is going to quit on us. Ego? I hope he has one. don't see how he has put up with these whining people.  Ask what can I do for my country instead of what my country can do for  you.
