The co-pilot of a Chinese airliner was sucked halfway out of the cockpit, even though he was belted in when the windscreen of his plane shattered. This after a woman was killed from being sucked halfway out of a fuselage window?
Putting some thought into the latter. Those windows are small, whichever half went out (I haven't had the heart to look it up) went into a wind stream of several hundred miles an hour, straight back at about 90 degrees to the window. That's not pretty at all.
It's a one in a billion chance, but dang.

Dang is right. When I heard about what had happened all I could think was what in the world?

Sincere condolences to this victim and her family. Horrible, horrible.

I have to wonder why haven’t we heard of this type of accident before.

Just another reason I like the aisle seat... and keep the belt fastened unless I have a reason to be out of the seat.

Wow.  Just one more reason to die without ever having flown on a plane.

Whatever I might be missing, I am okay with it.

I don't ride without my seatbelt  in the car either.

Mile for mile, air flight is much safer than autos, but to each their own.

Yeah I think it's that whole 'if something bad happens, it's probably gonna be really bad' aspect of it, along with the fact that you can't just pull over and get out if you aren't comfortable with the ride....

You really should put a flight on your bucket list. Nothing quite like stepping on a plane in Atlanta on a freezing january morning and getting off in Miami 90 minutes later.
