MSGT William “Sam” McDowell, age 74, of Powder Springs, GA; passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2018. He was born on July 6, 1943, in Cedartown, GA, to the late Ullyses Samuel & Connie Mae McDowell, and was preceded in death by his step-son, Robert Pearson; brothers, Robert McDowell and Ellis H. McDowell; brothers-in-law, Gene Thomason and Calvin Phillips; sisters, Lucille Phillips and Gail Nantz, and sister-in-law, Frances McDowell. Mr. McDowell retired from the United States Air Force as MSTG after 22 years of service and from Lockheed Martin where he worked as a supervisor. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church of Cedartown.

Survivors include wife, Marie McDowell of Powder Springs, GA; step-son, David Pearson of Douglasville, GA; brothers, John H. McDowell of Douglasville, GA, and Gary & Linda McDowell of Acworth, GA; sister, Betty Thomason of Powder Springs, GA; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 11 AM, from Clark Funeral Home with Pastor Chip Abernathy officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, from 4 PM until 7 PM.
