Wonder why nobody comes to Paulding.com, anymore

Recommended Posts

I for one like this site.

I'm not part of a social media. If need know something i have family who tell me. After spending 8 to 9 hour working I don't wanted spent another hour or two on social media with co-workers. Social media not mine thing.

With all rain this year mine garden has really produce this year. Taking care of garden and cutting grass every week takes up of mine time.

Sometime someone post what like , I will hit like button.

Not everyone going agree with everyone . We are all differ what we believe in.

Y'all can make the site what you want it to be.

I know I too can let the political talk get to me and just have to have my say....I don't like it on how it makes me feel afterwards...darn sure not good for the blood pressure. So after thinking it over and reading most of the post I decided maybe it would be good to take a vacation from the political site I mean really it is what it is and all the fighting in the world won't change things...so I wish you all well and hope you all best...and it won't be an answer but if things get out of hand instead of removing a post or closing it maybe a few days blocked from the site would allow a cooling off period?

Cool off, but come back every chance you get, OSU!

I like the kind of U-N-D-E-R-S-T-A-N-D-I-N-G you generate.

I just don't think a lot of the P.com discussions fall into a political labeling, but rather into a wider range of communication. Like I try to convey, "politics is only a branch of socuial science."

Paulding.com is what it is because of the people that visit, post and comment not because of the owner, Pcom is like our government you get what you vote for it's really that simple. Trying to blame Pubby for the content of an open source website is absurd, If it's fluffy puppy and kitten stories you want start posting them, is a pretty simple process.

People who don't give a damn about freedom of speech, freedom of the press, or freedom of religion, while discussing social science, history, psychology, economics, and even anthropology, are cows in a pasture.

Post man ...Are we not posting our truths when posting? I have never had a post removed and if you are interested in my past on P.com, then look me up. I am honest to a fault. Sometimes the truth hurts huh? Bouquet is this only name I have use on here. How about you? Look for posts on Ashton, Tristen Bass, and Phillip Bass, or Nana and Papa. These will be post that pertain to my worst days. Go ahead and label me. But I feel that labeling people is cowardly.

Blunt Trauma ..."It doesn't really matter what you are convinced of. And background is only partially relevant."

Yes just one line of your mouthy post. That again IS YOUR OPINION and we read it, Or at least part of it. You lost me with that comment. You promote YOU opinion and dump on others. That really is not what I would like too see on here. My absences have been based on mine and my husbands health. I fell in love with the Community that Pubby created here. Remember the old saying "Like it or Leave it?" It might tell you to cut out the dumps you make, you could be totally ignored real soon.

PUBBY FOREVER!!!

Thanks, Boquet!

I think you have been very truthful. But, the truth does hurt sometimes. Like police officers do, we turn our cameras off to cobver our behinds when we feel like something will hurt us.

I have used several names, but a lot of people know me anyway. I like the name "The Postman" and have kept it a long time.

You are right about labeling people. But, sometimes it's good to label bullies for what they are, otherwise you would be wasting your time trying to communicate with them, because they have a don't care about anything, or anyone but theirself attitude.

Thanks again, for your time talking directly to me!

I think it would be nice to see stories/info on non-political, non-airport news and events.

I remember and kind of miss the days of "mindless Posting."

These days, it is division - and yes I have my side - and there are too many nonsensical, pot-stirring topics.

I like what I call lollygaging talks, but for the most part I like news, serious discussions, and the science of human beings along with trying to understand them.

I also like devision, multiplication, addition, subtraction, and real stir the pot stuff, as long as nothing is burned, or boiled over.

I used to like fiction stories, but the older I get the more realistic I get. I despise lies, and like to know when someone is lying. I study all the time if it's nothing but watching educational programs on TV.

Dragon tells, and super heros, are for younger people. I just don't like them, anymore!

I'm listening.

I will make one statement and that is as a society, I don't think that anyone is above the law. Some folks can avoid the law, but the notion that someone is above the law is a principal.

I will note that when injustice - someone in authority exceeding their authority - it has traditionally been one of the most discussed topics here. This includes the travails of the Morrisons, the death discussed in this topic and, with notice that the chaos surrounding the President being possibly the biggest news story of the 21st century - the actions and re-actions of Donald Trump.

I will add one more observation. I would have loved to have found a younger news reporter but the history and drive behind facebook was driven by youth. Remember facebook started as a single college 'social site,' expanded to more colleges and then eventually became ubiquitous. At the time this opportunity arose for pcom, facebook was well established among youth who were engaged there; not here.

Regardless, if someone expressed an interest in doing that task, I would be interested in pursuing a rejuvenation of the news on pcom.

pubby

PS: When I was conceiving pcom back in the early 2000s, I sought to create a part time job that would reward a deputy for posting news from the sheriff's office as a report but Bruce Harris shot down the idea ... which was fine. However, consider that in 2017 Ashley Henson, in addition to his duties as the PR officer, posts reports gratis through facebook and the Nixle service ... which didn't exist at the time. I never understood how facebook got the opportunity for free content when posting directly for pay (or for free) was forbidden on a local news outlet.

And that brings us around to those that benefit from the lack of candid discussion and exposure of those that operate in the darkness.

Political correctness, selective censorship, partisan moderators, bashing of LEO, trolls, fake news, no news, tattletale pimps, thin skinned snowflakes, keyboard bullies, very partisan leadership, lack of content, one sided commentary, thread hogs, keyboard cowards, elitist pseudo intellectuals, socialists, bashing of anything perceived as religious or moral, distain for country, bad mouthing the native Southerners/locals, failure to represent both sides of a story, nonsensical ramblings, lack of creativity by management. To name a few reasons.

Kind of sounds like most communities these days ... heck, it sounds better than state of the family where half the marriages fail :)

Stonewall; you might also consider the expression of this breadth of opinion as an exercise in freedom of speech; if you are inclined to view water glasses as half full instead of almost empty.

The very first time I posted a comment on this site was out of outrage. I happened upon the website and witness a group of folks (the same that are now calling themselves victims) attacking what I believe to be a young woman who was grieving the death of a friend that had been shot and killed by the Paulding sheriff's office. It's been a while but as I recall he had savagely attacked them with a can of bug spray. Well anyway this 'group' was taking turns nipping at the girl like a pack of excited wolves bringing down a wounded fawn, it was a disgusting spectacle and I was so shocked that people in this community could act so deplorably I tried to defend her.

Things really haven't changed that much around here except the wolves have a few more people willing to challenge them now. And that I believe is what really ticks them off.

This!

I had a similar experience trying to post objectively rather than subjectively. The wolf pack does not allow for middle ground. You are either for them or against them. It's trucking hilarious and they don't even realize what they do when they are doing it.

It's even funnier when one of them falls out of line and offers an opinion other than that of the status quo. That pack member has to first apologize as a precursor for dissent. While offering an opinion that goes against the conservative grain, they lower their heads and tuck their tails and wait to be sniffed into acceptance by the rest of the pack in the hopes they will not be ripped apart by their own.

The status quo, COWA, is not much different than it was in the Paulding area in 1864. The loosers don't know they lost.

Big bucks ain't worth a chit, dogs! Georgia citizens had big bucks, but Jefferson Davis screwed them up. Big bucks don't care who owns them.

Big bucks are with the 1%. How the hell is that going to help you? Will you fight for the conservative capitalist's who has those big bucks?

Of all the reasons that P.com has dwindled in popularity, I'd guess your 50,000 ignorant posts are near the top of the list.

I believe you would fight for the people with the big bucks, dogs, even if they stayed at home protecting their investments. They damn sure would not give you any of those biggest ones, for fighting in their place. History has proven that. With that said, you might be one of their Generals, and get paid pretty good.

Here's a revised version of what someone posted on Facebook about this topic...

"Y'all know I'm a xxxxxxx as xxxxxxx as they come... and NOT a xxxxxxx. I couldn't give a care about anyone's politics, as long as they aren't xxxxxxxx about it .

The site xxxxxx plain and simple. I've been back once I think, in two years.

Once that crazy xxx 'Xxxxxxx' made his appearance, active (and interesting) members began dropping like flies.

You literally could not pay me to visit again.

I just treasure the many friends I made there while it was still a decent place to visit.

Basicly the 14 or 15 commenters voiced the same message... Gone because they felt they were not treated with respect by a few.

Shoot, except for the first sentence, I can translate that for ya. Bet you can too.

Separately,

I've never heard anybody on facebook say anything good about facebook. As a matter of fact, everything I've ever heard said from those folks about it would lead any sane person to believe that facebook is "The Debil". I prefer my drama, antagonism, and A holes more local, thank you.

And it's important to point out that the person who posted it is extremely liberal. But a nice liberal, I will add.

Edit: I posted this merely because some of you will automatically assume that the person who posted it is one of those evil right wingers. The post had nothing to do with politics.

I was just wondering on the house cause his name is still on the assessors thing and dated in july 2017 so I thought he bought it back.

Ok going to put my 2 cents in . First I want to say I miss the old paulding . com we used to talk about thing as a group and get along for the most part...now it seems we are at each others throats over the least littlest thing. And I will own up to my part of the problem...I have sworn off the political stuff ..it seems to bring out the worst in me I know what I am and what I stand for ..thats all that needs to be said about that...We ALL can make Paulding.com great again but only if we want to.we each know what flips each others switch and we still do it, I for one am stopping that ..if I dont agree with something well I will move on and refuse to get sucked into a heated debate ...Any how I hope you all have a great day.

Thank you, very much, OSU!

I don't represent P.com, but I do love it. I always have. I miss the real stuff we have discussed within the P.com community. Reality is my reasoning for loving P.com. The lollygagging has been great, but my preference has been real discussions, and the more socialogy that was involved, the better I liked it. Socialogy has many branches, and psycology is one of my favorite branches. History is a great branch of socialogy. I also love me some Country Music.

I do have a lot of loved ones, on P.com, who don't particularly like my attitude. Nevertheless, they have been provoked to think, a time or two, instead of wanting to lollygay ALL THE TIME.

I used to always come here with my morning coffee to check on the local area news. No one posts any of that any more. FB has a page that tells some news, but it gets lost along the was somewhere. And the big news, like a raid or standoff, etc. Seems people are scared to post.

Well hell, one person could post a picture of a cute fuzzy bunny and someone else will question it's political affiliation, then another is going to accuse it of being a Trumper or perhaps a Never Trumper and the next person is going to figure out how the bunny has ties to Russia.

It sucks here anymore.

The only reason I still come is because I have met some truly great folks here, my husband included, and every rare now and then there's a nice thread. (for awhile until someone figures out how to argue over it.
