Three arrested in murder of motorcyclist Friday morning

Two men and a woman were arrested on charges of murder in the shooting death of Ronald Chadwick Morgan, 31, who was shot off his motorcycle in the early morning hours Friday while riding on Holly Springs Road in west Paulding.

Morgan was shot early Friday morning (January 20, 2017) and left for dead in a ditch.  Neighbors called  Paulding E-911 at approximately 4:17 am leading Deputies to discover Morgan dead in a ditch.   Detectives were able to determine that the victim was riding a motorcycle at the time he was shot.

The incident took place  within Paulding County in the area of 1680 Holly Springs Road, which has a Rockmart, GA address.

Arrested were James Austin Nicholson W-M, 22 YOA of Rockmart, GA (Polk County) Carlos Fredrico Hightower B-M, 26 YOA of Rockmart, GA (Paulding County) Magan Darleen Carroll W-F, 24 YOA of Rockmart, GA (Paulding County) and each was charged with felony murder in connection with the Friday morning murder.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division, Deputies with the Warrants Division, Deputy Marshals with the United States Marshal’s Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, and Agents with the Haralson-Paulding Drug Task Force worked relentlessly to find the suspects responsible for this murder.

At this time, Detectives believe that the murder was a result of an ongoing dispute between the victim and the suspects over property. Detectives also indicated as the investigation continues, more charges are possible. Detectives want to encourage anyone who may have been in the area of 1680 Holly Springs Road on Friday morning, or anyone who may know anything about this incident, to call the Criminal Investigations Division of the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office at (770) 443-3015.

Wow quick work by the LEO's. I don't know the details yet but let justice take its course. If it was over property that's a hell of a reason to ruin four lives. Hats off to everyone involved in this apprehension.
