Mrs. Ruth McWilliams Parson, affectionately known as "Granny Ruth" to her family and friends, age 83, of Hiram passed away at her residence on Saturday, October 15, 2016.

 

Ruth was born on December 8, 1932 in Austell, Georgia to loving parents, the late Mr. Charlie McWilliams and Mrs. Millie Jones McWilliams. A loving wife and mother, Ruth was a devoted homemaker. In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting, gardening, and she loved flowers. A Christian, Ruth loved the Lord and attended East Hiram Baptist Church.

 

In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Gene Parson; two brothers, Paul McWilliams and Grady McWilliams; and one sister, Frances Brown.

 

Ruth is survived by her three children, Ronnie and Mary Parson of Hiram; Craig and Becky Parson also of Hiram, and Theresa Shirley of Dallas; eight grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive.

 

Funeral services for Ruth McWilliams Parson will be conducted on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home with Pastor Rickey Bice officiating. Interment will follow at the Flint Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. Kenneth Shirley, Andrew Shirley, Robert Avore, Jeremy Holcomb, Howard Finger, and Wyatt Hunter will serve as pallbearers with Jimmy Lee serving as an honorary pallbearer.

 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, October 17, 2016 from 4-9 PM.
