Open Records Request is Adventure in Wonderland

When Cecelia McMichen made her open records request on Chairman candidate Roger Legett last May, she was following up on rumors regarding past statements and his reputation as being a ladies man. Her story, which is show above in its entirety, is closer to what one would expect to find down some rabbit hole in a fictional story like Alice in Wonderland.

Wow I wonder how Tundra is going to spin this?

The records were not in fact secret files that has been alleged.

Based on this conversation it appears that Tundra could of been told by Vernon Collett that the statements were coerced. However Vernon Collett back tracked on that statement if I am reading this correctly??? \

OH wait..... Tundra NEVER DID REPLY  AS TO WHO DID THE alleged coercing.... Dang what a tangled web we weave when at first we try to deceive!!!!!

From what I have been told this also occurred while he was working for the fire department. No proof of this.......YET. I did ask Roger and he said nothing transpired at the fire department. It is my understanding that he left the fire department shortly after.

The letters seem to be real concerns from the ladies involved and some were addressed to their supervisor. I am sure that those were passed along to Jerry Shearin? who was chairman at the time, I wonder why no hearing or anything was ever done?

I heard back in May that Roger, If elected was going to hire Jerry as the office manager, things appear to be falling into place now.???

I never could understand How Roger Leggett was allowed to park his truck in front of the polling place on ELECTION DAY with a Elect Jerry Shearin for Chairman on his tail gate... it is all coming to light now..... Birds of a feather flock together.

Cecelia I saw something in your write up that is troubling that maybe you asked about.... Why was Commissioner Vernon Collett looking into Roger Leggett personnel file Six months ago ; Did you ask him what he was looking for? that has really got my curiosity up.

It appeared, based on what I read that Vernon Collett was actually defending or verifying for someone that his record was clean??...... Are you holding something back on us??

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has Margaret Mead

I oppose the airport expansion

Great question Whitey - I didn't ask him Whitey and I should have.  My bad - my head was spinning was spinning from all the conflicting information I was receiving from Vernon Collett.

I can only guess that Vernon Collett was vetting his "candidate of choice".  As you know from "the secret page" (Facebook page),  Vernon Collett never supported Virginia Galloway - he only supported Roger Leggett.  Just ask Tundra. :)

Leggett is against commercialization of the airport and it appears he has the support of the other 4 commissioners.  (The Chicken World 4 as Glass calls them)

The board of commissioners is an elected body which should act as a team and folks are tired of a divided board and a dysfunctional board. Austin and Carmichael have seriously divided the county with the airport shenanigans.  Folks don't trust them on any issue because of the secret back door airport issue which should have been voted on in a referendum. It's dirty.

I can't vote for Carmichael, I don't want Paulding County to turn into Riverdale. I just don't.

Absolutely not true.  I gave her a hug on Friday.   And looking forward to giving her another one at Dave's victory party tomorrow night.

Rhett:

The idea that Paulding would become Riverdale is a myth and a lie.  That the four commissioners on the board and Roger Legett perpetuate that lie is a testament to both their individual and collective incompetence.

The plain fact is that the courts and the FAA will determine the future of Silver Comet Field and the only legitimate position for those seeking to serve the county is that they will abide by the decision of the courts and do what is best for the county from that point on.

Personally, I'll admit, that I think Silver Comet Field has a great future as a small commercial airport with one runway of 6500 feet serving as Atlanta's small regional commercial hub that feeds passengers to HJIA and handles about 200,000 passengers a year with the major benefit being the enhanced security at the greenfield industrial park as a major perk that attracts great companies with great jobs. This is something entirely different from the vision you have of the future of this facility.

But because I see that as the future, not some dystopian view of Paulding as Riverdale,  I see the opposition to the future I see as about as juvenile as a six year old fighting, biting, kicking and screaming as his mom insists he eat his vegetables.

Bottom line, we need one adult on the BOC as its chairman and David Carmichael is the only adult who has applied for the job.

I don't want Paulding County to turn into Riverdale. I just don't.

You gotta remember that Leggett, in the famous words of John Kerry,   was FOR the airport before he was against it.   His "principles" are dictated by which voting group he thinks he can exploit.  Or which "handler" is showing him the way to the greatest graft and payoffs.

Your fears about Paulding turning into "Riverdale"  doesn't say much about your confidence in Gary Gulledge.

I do agree with you that SCF could have been handled differently.   I'm not perfectly comfortable with how it went down,  and I'm confident that if a "do-over" were available,  things would be a bit different.    Having said that,  SCF is sitting out there,  producing very little revenue, and the Chicken World 4 are pissing away close to a $$million  of our tax revenues filing suits against our own county agencies.   Dumb!!!

The incompetence of the 4 post commissioners is just incredible.   According to Crowe,  "economic development ain't my job".   Pownall doesn't read his emails or listen to his voice messages, and a year later is "surprised" that SCF exists.  And Collett is up to his armpits in Leggett's campaign, searching for personnel records on Roger-the-groper.   I have to wonder,   had there been anything that Shearin didn't get out of the files 8 years ago,  would Vernon have stuffed them down the front of his pants and walked out with it?

Rhett...... don't let your misguided fears over a mythical airliner full of imaginary passengers bound to nowhere cause you to vote for an unlikable incompetent uneducated oaf.

Should Leggett win tomorrow,  Paulding will be one of, if not the only, county in the State with a commission totally devoid of members without a college education.   (And before anybody jumps on that last statement,  Ron Davis' "degree" is from an on-line UNACREDITED university. )

I certainly don't think any of this is about the airport. My opinion... It's all about controlling a $140 million per year budget, $215 to $315 million reservoir and power over 850 employees. Imagine having the power to decide where just 5% of that goes.

Yep.  The Reservoir project is huge and because of the Airport Crap, nobody is looking at it.   The 80 million dollar bid award for the pumping stations went just about unnoticed.   Everyone of these new parks the SPLOST pays for is mucho dollars.  With all this construction going on again, roads and schools are about to become big business again.  We've had two or three water main breaks out here in the last two weeks.  Our water infrastructure is getting old.

But all this is being buried by the Airport discussion.  Stupid.

This is what i do not understand there is so much more going on or not going on in the county. that needs to be addressed..... but this airport has taken over lives, divided the county, divided friends, I will be so glad when this is over.... and no it will not be over tomorrow regardless of who wins...  but hopefully  after tomorrow some other issues can be addressed and not just the airport.... I am not sure who is going to win. The race seems pretty close..  but who ever wins I hope they are true to what they have been promising the citzens of paulding...

Sure do, as do other charity organizations.   Especially when screwed over by the county.   The lies and attempted destruction of citizens go way deeper than an airport issue.

I'd gladly take common sense any day over condescending, lying politicians with a degree and their cronies who think that makes them superior.
