I watched the protests in Germany yesterday..........those on the right who want the borders closed and criminals shipped out.........and the ones on the left who think they should allowed in and allowed to stay.

COLOGNE, Germany – Women's rights activists, far-right demonstrators and leftwing counter-protesters took to the streets of Cologne on Saturday to voice their opinions in the debate that has followed a string of New Year's Eve sexual assaults and robberies blamed largely on foreigners.

Amid the heightened public pressure, Chancellor Angela Merkel's party proposed stricter laws regulating asylum-seekers in the country -- some 1.1 million of whom arrived last year.

Police said that around 1,700 protesters from the anti-Islam PEGIDA movement were kept apart from 1,300 counter-demonstrators in simultaneous protests outside the city's main train station.

PEGIDA members held banners with slogans like "RAPEfugees not welcome" and "Integrate barbarity?" while the counter-protesters pushed the message "refugees welcome."

Merkel said "We will manage it" and now today this:

Merkel under pressure as Cologne violence cases rise to 516

Berlin (AFP) - Cologne police on Sunday said they had now recorded over 500 cases of New Year's Eve violence blamed on migrants, piling fresh pressure on German Chancellor Angela Merkel over her liberal stance towards refugees.

Marking a sharp jump from the caseload of 379 given on Saturday, police said some 516 complaints had now been lodged, including 40 percent that are related to sexual assault.

Witnesses described terrifying scenes of hundreds of women running a gauntlet of groping hands, lewd insults and robberies in the mob violence.

Even though no formal charges have been laid, Cologne police have said those suspected over the New Year's rampage near the city's railway station were mostly asylum seekers and illegal migrants from North Africa.

The scale of the Cologne assaults has shocked Germany and put a spotlight on the 1.1 million asylum seekers who arrived in the country last year.

It has also fuelled fear, with a poll published by Bild am Sonntag newspaper saying that 39 percent of those surveyed felt police did not provide sufficient protection, while 57 percent did.

Turning away from her mantra of "we will manage this" over the record migrant influx, Merkel has been forced to change tack.

She took a tough line on Saturday, saying she backed changes to the law to make it easier to expel asylum seekers convicted of a crime.

"If the law does not suffice, then the law must be changed," she said.

I don't guess Merkel thought about how well these people can assimilate in western culture. There are so many feel good stories out there of people embracing each others culture and everyone lives happily ever after. It is BS our culture is hardwired along with our personalities. It is the filter in which we process so much of what goes on around us. In true German form, with enough will we can make the impossible happen.

We had plenty of problems with mass immigration in this country. We just forget. They say we are a melting pot, that becomes true most of time in second and third generations. Even now we resemble a stove with multiple pots simmering and sometimes boiling over. New York is a good example China town Little Italy, heck look at Smyrna.

It was hard on immigrants and we had plenty of crime in the Ghettos over history.

She let too many in too fast and the German people are going to suffer for it.

Not only that, it profoundly effects the efforts worldwide to prevent a Muslim verses Christian dialogue.

These refugees are under an enormous amount of stress and have suffered horribly.

Really what did she expect? I think she has done more to harm them than good. Nobody will want this in their country.

I have no problem with doing our part to help, but it should be done conservatively and strictly. We need to set up the laws and conditions before they are brought in.

I would think that some sort of device that would helps there immigrants translate their language to German, would be worth it's weight in gold.

They might need SOME people due to their low birth rate. I rather doubt they NEED gang rapists by the boatload.

It was an invasion and she embraced it instead of fighting it. I hear that Hitler's book is going back on the shelves in Germany. We have one here too and our President is also embracing it instead of fighting for America.
