Mary Alberine Cleland - December 6, 1929 - November 28, 2015

Ms. Mary “Alberine” Tibbitts Cleland, age 85, of Dallas passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Wellstar Paulding Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

 

Alberine was born on December 6, 1929 in Dallas to loving parents, the late Mr. Leonard Tibbitts and Mrs. Lela Burt Tibbitts. Alberine worked as a film inspector for Universal Studios in Atlanta for many years. A Christian, she was a member of Narroway Baptist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed taking care of her family.

 

Alberine is survived by her son, Mr. Gary (Pam) Cleland of Dallas, 1 daughter, Mrs. Joyce (Larry) Pittman of Barnesville, GA; 3 grandchildren, Tracey (Kevin) Savage of Plymouth, Massachusetts, Amy Echols of Stockbridge, GA, and Hannah Cleland of Dallas; 4 great grandchildren, Katelyn Johnson of Michigan, Marlie Echols of Stockbridge, and Dereck and Ashton Savage both of Plymouth, Massachusetts; 2 brothers, Loul Tibbitts of Dallas and Fred Tibbitts of Monroe, GA; 2 sisters, Josephine Strickland of Rockmart and Genelle Shelton of Monroe, GA. Several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive.

 

The funeral service for Alberine Cleland will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home with Rev. Herschel Tibbitts officiating. Interment will follow at the Narroway Baptist Church Cemetery. Johnny Tibbitts, Fred Tibbitts, Loul Tibbitts, Darryl Strickland, and Albert O’Shields will serve as pallbearers.

 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 from 4-9 PM.

 

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org. You can donate to this cause by phone at 1-800-272-3900 or via mail at Alzheimer’s Association P.O. Box 96011 Washington, DC 20090-6011.
