I cheated this time and they are frozen  I am making the cream though.

If I weren't cheating, usually I make a gaulette (sp?) with circles of pie crust, apple pie type filling (homemade or canned) centered on the crust and bake rustic style (pull up side around filling but leave a gap in the middle). Then either make or use jar caramel sauce and drizzle.

Cinnamon Whipped cream is regular whipped cream with a little vanilla and cinnamon added at the very end of whipping.

Editted to add: If you don't have pie crust, puff pastry works great too. Just cut circles or leave whole, poke with a fork, then put filling on top and bake. Yum!

We're having a small Thanksgiving this year with just our immediate family. We're going to cook and then watch Christmas movies the rest of the day in our PJs.

My husband is smoking the turkey and I'm making:

Sausage balls

Brussels sprouts and mushrooms in sherry bacon cream sauce

Mashed potato casserole

Stove top stuffing (don't judge me)

White cheddar corn casserole

Deviled eggs

And sister Schubert rolls

Fun fact- my mother in law met sister Schubert's sister at the grocery store.

I am not judging, when my kids were little they only ate meat, corn, potatoes, green beans, carrots and bread. We would go to Ryans so we did not end up with leftovers of stuff they wouldn't eat. Ryans use to be a lot better 20 years ago.

Mother-in-law moved to Florida with extended family so we started going there. The kids only went a few years until they moved out. We had separate Thanksgiving for years, now they have their own homes we get together at theirs.

I totally understand the small Thanksgiving thing.

Note:

Must bring your own teeth, I'd let you use mine but they'll be busy.

ok ... y'all have done it now ...... I'm adding to my very simple easy peasy menu

Adding:

  • Sweet Cream Sherry Portabello Mushrooms for an appetizer
  • Deviled Eggs as part of dinner

Whew .... Hopefully not adding more :D

and a correction --- the Caramel Apple Tartlets are more a Crostata than a Gaulette. I was mistaken in the culinary name  .... I should go with easy peasy pie/tart as the name.

and FYI ... the filling is so switchable up to whatever you really want. I've done peaches, blueberries, strawberries, mixed fruit, plums, etc .....

We are getting together with our family So we are taking Baby lima beans, green bean casserole,

Hawaiian sweet rolls (one of my cousins favorite rolls) Red Velvet cake & sweet tea.

Everyone always brings their favorite dishes, along with Turkey and dressing and ham.

We always end up with a feast & enjoy every bit of it. :) :)

Happy Thanksgiving everyone, hope you all have a great day
