Odes Donald Jones - December 16, 1942 - September 10, 2015

Mr. Odes Donald Jones, affectionately known to his family and friends as “Donald”, age 72 of Dallas passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, September 10, 2015.

 

Donald was born on December 16, 1942 in Dallas, Georgia to loving parents, the late Mr. Odes Lelus Jones and Mrs. Sybil Agnes Weaver Jones. A Christian, Donald was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church in Yorkville. In his spare time, Donald enjoyed music and, in particular, playing guitar.

 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Mr. Phillip Dwayne Jones and Mr. Steven Allen Jones.

 

Donald is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Mrs. Zandra Cole Jones of Dallas; 8 children, Robin (Ricky) Hartley of Yorkville, Lisa (John) Brown of Rockmart, Wade (Becky) Jones of Rockmart, Amy (Mark) Barron of Rockmart, Blake (Tara) Jones of Rockmart, Scott Jones of Yorkville, Greg Jones of Yorkville, and Stacy (Lele) Cole of Dallas; 24 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Doug (Connie) Jones of Yorkville and Ricky (Linda) Jones of Waco, GA. Several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive.

 

The funeral service for Donald will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 1 PM in the Chapel of Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Cole and Brother Tyler Barron officiating.

 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, September 12, 2015 from 4-9 PM.

 

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Donald’s memory.
