Ruby Carolyn Compton Driskell

Mrs. Ruby Carolyn Compton Driskell, age 100, of Hiram passed away at Wellstar Paulding Hospital on Friday, August 14, 2015.

 

Ruby was born in Dallas on January 16, 1915 to loving parents, the late Mr. George Compton and Mrs. Lena McMichen Compton. She worked as a seamstress for a period of time, but was predominately a homemaker. Ruby was known for her fantastic cooking abilities. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting and making quilts. In addition, she loved animals (dogs and birds) and flowers. A Christian she was a member of Zion Baptist Church for many years.

 

Ruby is preceded in death by her husband, Mr. A.W. Driskell, her parents, and 10 siblings. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

 

Funeral services for Ruby Carolyn Compton Driskell will be held on Monday, August 17, 2015 at 1 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Dallas with Rev. Travis Warren and Joe Turner officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Ruby’s nephews, Kevin Carter, Brandon Carter, and Gabriel Carter will serve as pallbearers.

 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, August 16, 2015 from 4-9 PM.
