Mr. Loyd Asberry Brewer, age 93, of Dallas, GA, passed away on Thursday evening, July 2, 2015.

 

A native of Dallas, Mr. Brewer was born on September 21, 1921, the son of the late Claude Grady Brewer and Ester Viola Swafford Brewer. He had been a resident of Dallas and Paulding County for the greater part of his life. Mr. Brewer was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II. Prior to retirement he was associated with Blair Manufacturing Company for a number of years. Loyd was of the Baptist faith and a member of First Baptist Church of New Hope. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and woodwork.

 

Loyd is preceded in death by his beloved parents and one brother, Alvin Brewer.

 

Mr. Brewer is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Edna Lucille Wills Brewer, whom he married on December 22, 1945; three children, Mr. & Mrs. Jimmy and Lavelle Thomason Brewer, Mr. & Mrs. Billy and Wanda Collum Brewer, and Mr. & Mrs. Robert and Ann Jackson Brewer; six grandchildren, Lana Brewer Pruett, Chester Brewer, Alisha and Jeremy Pilgrim, Cathy Brewer, Bryce Brewer, and Zach Brewer; two great-grandchildren, Jackson Pruett and Brock Pilgrim; one brother, Rufus “Jim” Brewer and two sisters, Tommie Henry and Annie Maude Force. Many other relatives and friends also survive.

 

Funeral services for Mr. Loyd Brewer will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2015, at 3 PM in the Chapel of Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Crowe and Rev. Jimmy Tibbitts officiating. Music will be provided by Adam Thomason. Jeremy Pilgrim, Zach Brewer, Tommy Leonard, Raymond Force, Irvin Collum, and Eddie Wills will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, July 4, 2015, from 4:00 until 9:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of New Hope Building Fund or Paulding Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
