Are some IP addresses blocked?  Sometimes I get a 403 forbidden error when I try to access pcom on my phone which uses Cricket Wireless.  My phone's IP address (216.4.56.x) at the moment is showing as originating from Texas according to whatismyip.com.  It's not an issue with cookies or temporary files since if I connect to my home WiFi I can get to pcom fine.  If I turn WiFi back off I'm blocked again.

Thanks.

I'm not sure what pubby uses here; but most forums use some sort of spam blocker tool, and the forum software has the capability of banning IP's as well. It's possible that the IP your phone uses was used by a spammer at one point and the software has blocked it or even the entire IP range.

You might want to PM pubby your exact IP and he can probably go in and manually remove it from the poop list. I've had to do that several times at the other place.

I ran my IP and found Richardson, Texas AND Dallas, Georgia.

Have you tried flushing the DNS cache?

Have you tried flushing the DNS cache?

pcom resolves to same IP on both LTE and WiFi so it's not a DNS issue.  And traceroutes and pings are successful for both.  I bet it's just blocking some IP addresses/ranges.  I'll PM Pubby to see if it's blocked.

Thanks.

I actually have blocked some. If you can send me the full blocked IP I'll check it against my block list.

And yes, I've have intentionally blocked some entire ranges because the preponderance (and to my knowledge at the the time - all) of the requests came from Europe, Asia and Africa.

I've had some members who traveled to Europe email me (emails are typically not blocked) to complain.

Frankly, this was done because there are always places on a forum as large as pcom that can be accessed and posts made. (I've had some minor forums that were set up specifically for anonymous postings at time and guests could post and sometimes even reply and validating members can/or could/ access the PM system.)

When porn, spam and links to content with viral alerts result from a range that appears to come from say Russia, I don't care - I'll nix the whole thing.

I had a member at the other place take a vaca in Ireland and couldn't sign on because I had blocked an IP range there due to spammers.

County computers used to have p.com blocked. Don't know if they still do.
