When it comes to local information, why not just ask?

Recommended Posts

I am thankful for each and every call, text, email, face-to-face that I have encountered regarding outsourcing or any other concern that is in regard to our local schools.

If you hear something that you have questions regarding, why not just email and ask? It is sad that so many are losing sleep over items that may never occur.

I agree Kim. I hear all kinds of things when I am out and about; however, I try very hard not to speculate. I have always found our elected officials to be easily accessible and more than willing to answer questions when I have them.

In our current technological environment, it makes it even easier to correspond via email. In my older age I have come to really dislike drama and there is no need to place it somewhere where there really isn't any. But.........that's just me and I'm sure others may see this differently and I respect that.

Thank you Kim to you and our BOE for all you do for our community and more especially, for our children.

I see your post in the other thread so thanks for addressing that but I believe these open forum discussions should be invaluable for information to board members as well as place to set the record straight. I thank you for being brave enough to come hear our concerns and address them, for that you get big points.

If there is some incorrect information wouldn't it be better to post within the threads rather than let it continue or address multitudes of emails?

I see your point. I guess what I was referring to is passing on information as an announcement (which could be taken as fact) rather than posting a question to get clarification.

Rather that "this is happening" stated as a fact which can scare people needlessly , "is this happening?" opens the question for all so that the information can explained or clarified.

You are right, it is easier to "post" and answer to clarify information to a mass audience. I do not work at a computer for most of the day so I do appreciate it when someone brings these posts to my attention so that I can try to get the information that is requested. Just want people to know that they are welcome to call or email as well. Some people are more comfortable with that or have individual issues and I want to encourage the communication. Thanks Blah

I do appreciate the open forums as well as a community member and a board member. They are invaluable.

It helps to keep up with what is happening in our county. It is just discouraging when the original post is stated in a manner that the community might take as truth without getting more information to verify facts. It is always good to ask questions so misinformation does not spread like wildfire. Once it is spread, it is much harder to extinguish whether it is correct or not.

I do not think it is always on purpose, sometimes it is just a misunderstanding. None of us are perfect :good:

Kim, you rock!

Thank you.... but I, like you, am often "tired of BS" and that is why I try to be fair and treat folks like I would hope they would treat me or my family.

We all just have to remember that none of us is any better than anyone else and we are all in this crazy world together so we might as well make the best of it. I am sure you have God-given talents that you try to put to use to!!!! Sometimes I wish He just gave me a Carrie Underwood voice or something like that !!!! LOL

Then maybe you would provide information on how you received my private information that can only be done by a background check. Who gave YOU the information since you denied doing the dirty deed and then tried to hold over my head?

I don't know Beach Bum, but you keep making these assertions. This isn't the topic to make these accusations, and I've seen you provide no evidence that BB did anything.

You need to know there is a wolf in sheep clothing here. Take advice on school decisions with a person who sinks to such immoral depths to get her way? I don't think you would be so wise to take that advice or laced compliments getting anywhere near children. No way. I will PM you with the details.

Crossroads,

I am "out of the loop" on this. I will read your PM and I am sorry if you have been wronged by some in our county. I can relate. NOT enjoyable.

But since I am in a position where I am supposed to represent to citizens I serve, I have to be open to all opinions. I think anyone who agrees to serve in a public office and swears to serve without fear or favor ( to the county citizens) should value each opinion. Whether I agree with an individual or not, I have to put my personal opinion aside and represent the majority of the community unless it is illegal, etc. If it is too "close to call" then I will give my opinion the 2 cents it may be worth.

Sorry again for whatever you have experienced. :(

So Kim,

While it is appreciated you are coming on here, can I ask how accurate your information is? Please see below the RFP for outsourcing and the second PDF contains MANY custodial items for sale - so if this is just a proposal, why is the district selling off custodial equipment?

As an employee in PCSD, I am concerned regarding this proposal. I am also a Paulding citizen and tax payer and I understand and appreciate the need to be fiscally responsible. However, it is unclear how outsourcing will truly beneift our district. The schools require MUCH upkeep and many duties are performed by our custodians which are not documented. After speaking to multiple educators and employees in Douglas county and Cherokee cty school systems, it is very clear that this process will likely be a deteriment to our schools. In the high schools, there are students there ALL the time - brining in people not employeed by the district who we can only HOPE have had a background check is dangerous. I could go on and on, but fear it will fall on deaf ears anyway.

Why are you looking to drag anyone else into your created drama? Just hush, baby girl, just hush.

Believe it or not, this comes from a good place. :)

I have a scenario that I have witnessed firsthand play out, and coincidentally, it involves a 'housekeeping' position. For the sake of anonymity, this person will simply be referred to as J. Doe.

J. Doe was hired, as a temp, to provide day-day housekeeping for a corporate office. Previously, J. Doe worked for a guy (we will call J. Doe II) who owned a small company who provided services time-to-time for this corporate office. Time passed and he appeared to be a good fit for the job, however, when he was processed to be hired as a full-time employee, he didn't qualify. Apparently, he had an extensive felonious background and had served prison sentences. Several weeks go by. Suddenly, this person is back working day to day in the housekeeping position.

How? The work was contracted to J. Doe II's 'company' and he assigned J. Doe to the job. This individual has been there ever since.

Let that sink in.

And that is bad especially in high schools, the kids are there around the clock at times. Maybe one day a week they go home. They have plays, sports and such and practice non stop.

I expressed my concern in the other topic for our defenseless children. I don't like it at all.

Who's going to do the background check, who's going to check behind them that a background check was in fact done? You know, nepotism and all that.

Will there be a public meeting for citizen input? Or does it really matter and the county will do what they please with our tax dollars?

this part was off topic and would have been moved with the other off topic material. pubby

Maybe you need to just hush.

Stop with the puerile behavior. Don't like what I have to say??? Simply, ignore me. Please, push the ignore key.

Lowrider. I found this on the document. I have a problem with vendors responsibility to perform the screenings. That gives a vendor the ability to do what they want. Let's say.....If my best buddy can't pass a drug screening, as his employer and his buddy, I can let it slide. This, assuming the vendor even does regular drug screenings.

Random drug screening should be the sole responsibility of PCSD. The vendor screenings should be paid for by the vendor. The vendor screenings should be contracted to a PCSD contractor. You can NEVER rely on a vendor not to screw you.

Background Screening

PCSD requires vendor to perform background screening on any employee or subcontractor that will be working on the PCSD property (delivery personnel included). A comprehensive criminal history background screening to include both GCIC and NCIC is required on each applicant assigned to PCSD. Minimum findings that warrant exclusion include:

- Any felony conviction - Any drug conviction
- Any crime against children - Any sex-related conviction

Background screening must be provided to the PCSD end-user department (name on PO) upon request by the PCSD.
