Eighteen yr.old shot

Recommended Posts

I did hear of them finding someone dead and detectives were at skating rink questioning some folks. This is not 100% confirmed, but did get from a good source with some attachments to the rink.

There was a senior at SPHS that died yesterday. Conditions surrounding his death are still being investigated. The young man was shot. It happened in the South Paulding area, near Roses, but not quite 'there'.

He was loved as one of my own as he and my daughter dated for some time. My only peace is knowing we stood next to him at his baptism last year........

I'm praying for the young people in our community. Such a tragic start to the New Year.

He used to work at Sparkles. It was also the all night skate event so many teens from our community that knew him were there. The incident was not affiliated in anyway with the skating rink other than these small connections.

There was an arrest yesterday with a murder charge--wonder if it is connected?? It's just not everyday you see somebody charged with murder in Paulding County.

Has this been on the news? How can an 18 year old be murdered and nothing put out about it?

Grand Kid heard about it New Year's Eve. I have not seen a news report on it. Saddened for all who knew him. Prayers for his family and friends.

That is how I feel lowrider. I have a nineteen year old and he knows this young man and it concerns me very much. As parents of teens that were friends with him we should know if there is something we need to be concerned about with our kids.

Well, it is Paulding County and we aren't that important to the ATL news stations. But, I will bet that if they put any type of race issues on it--we will be on the news in a heartbeat.

And there were actually 2 arrests for murder. One yesterday and one today--assuming later at night and during the night. Unreal. But hey--I am glad that they have made arrest so quick.

Sad, three young lives destroyed and many lives changed forever.

Drugs are a dead end street.

Yes they are. So many lives changed and another one lost. :(

The powers-that-be in Paulding do not WANT negative publicity. It only gets in the news if someone contacts the news folks. If everyone thinks this is Mayberry, more people buy houses here.

Lenny gave the house back to the bank. The house where the mom was paralyzed? I'll stop next time I see you or Mr. G out when I drive by.

My God, 15 and 16? Buying drugs and murder? Incredibly sad.

I asked my grandson about it last night and all he knew was that a bunch of kids gathered at Sparkles about some boy, but other than that nothing. Actually, I'm glad he didn't know anything.

PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. —
Two teenagers will be charged as adults for allegedly shooting and killing an 18-year-old on New Year’s Eve.

Randy Frederick, 16, and Trent Jacobs, 15, are being held in the Paulding County Jail with no bond on felony murder charges.

Deputies say they shot and killed Gage McGhee after a drug transaction.

Both young men appear to be mad at the world.

Someone needed to deal with their issues before this.

Three young lives destroyed.

No matter what the outcome of the trials, there will be no winners in this mess.

I have to wonder if those who say that crime is down, that violent movies and video games don't affect kid's behavior, that violent "song" lyrics don't affect kid's behavior, will ever admit the truth.

You know the computer people have a saying, "garbage in, garbage out", the same is true for people.

Especially for those whose brains are still developing.

Just a couple of poor misguided young men who made a terrible mistake ? Maybe, but I can't help remember other recent threads where in similar circumstances you might have have labeled them a couple of Thug Wannabes. You may have even described the victim as a drug pusher that got what he deserved, and what of the relative of the two shooters that they got the murder weapon from wheres the outrage shown the mother who's kid had a BB gun ?

I do believe this sad and tragic situation made by some young men whose lives and the lives of the people that cared for them will be forever changed and that saddens me. but the double standard here is just so glaringly bright.

Billy the Kid died at 21 years old. He killed many people, some think as many as 21 people. There was no movies back then. There was no video games back then.

First, no one who knows anything at all about William Bonney, aka Billy the Kid, knows that he never killed anywhere near 21 people. In fact, it was probably not even in double figures.

Second, and this is a major point, Bonney was involved in what is known as The Lincoln County War and it was during and because of this "war" that people died at his hands.

So while your point that kids have killed before video games and movies is valid, your example is a very poor one.

I would also add that at no time in history, with the exception of war time, do we have so many children committing murder, both male and female.

In my opinion, if you do not think that these movies, games and music doesn't have an impact on a large percentage of children, then you are sadly mistaken.

I have a feeling that this case is a situation where no harm was intended, just a robbery of some dope, but things went from bad to worse and now three kid's lives are ruined or destroyed.

The same thing happened to a friend of miner's kid here in Paulding back in the late 80s.

He and his buddy didn't mean for anyone to be hurt, but a kid died and my buddy's son, who had never been in trouble before, was sentenced to life in prison.

Like the mother of the boy who died said after the trial, no one wins, my son is dead and their son is in prison for life.

There are a lot of things I thought and could have said, but out of respect for the family and friends that could be on here I wish nothing but condolences for the family. This is our community and that's why.

I mentioned my buddy (I was the best man at his wedding) who's son was sentenced to life in prison.

While I understood my friend's wish for his son to not receive a life sentence, at the same time I understood that another young man was dead because of this boy's actions.

I also was not going to say anything to the parents that was going to add to their pain and sorrow, no matter what I thought or said to others.

When something happens locally, where family or friends can see or hear, I try and temper my comments, not because my beliefs are different, but because I think it is the polite thing to do.

I presume your post was directed at me also, as you quoted my post.

I have said many times that we are raising a generation of young people from all cultures and back grounds that have had a message drummed into their brains from a very young age.

Killing is the ultimate problem solver. We have always had a handful, especially when it comes to crimes of passion.

Their communication skills are almost non-existent due to technology. They have had a steady feed of violence from tv and movies. When they are old enough they begin to actually do the killing and create violence in the games.

I found it very interesting that the expert gamers flying drones are having difficulty coping with the reality of dead bodies, some women and children.

Modern media is not a social experiment, it is a day to day reality. I read an article that 50% of divorces have porn addiction as a major issue, and it is online porn and pay per view.

I think will will eventually sexual abuse, teen on teen.

My son is heavily into video games. We have had many discussions about many issues one of his responses was kill them. I am glad that we had a lot of talks for me to explain how wrong that is.

These young teens look so hard, they are really children.

We have to create behavioral science curriculum in our schools to help mitigate the consequences of poor parenting.
