John S. Shipp III, age 68, of Buchanan, GA, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2014. He was born on June 2, 1946 to John Seaborn Shipp, Jr. & Mary Kate Rakestraw Shipp. Mr. Shipp was a church member at First United Methodist Church of Dallas. Mr. Shipp attended University of West GA and enjoyed researching family genealogy. He also loved antique cars, reading & spending time with his family.

 

Survivors include, wife, Hilda Shipp, of Buchanan, GA; son, Jonathan Alton Shipp & wife, Cathy of Buchanan, GA; daughter, Mary Frances Lucas,of Buchanan, GA; mother, Mary Kate Rakestraw Shipp of Dallas, GA; brothers, Alan & wife Jeanne Shipp of Dallas, GA, Brian Shipp of Villa Rica, GA; grandchildren, Cody Lucas, Kayla Danielle Shipp, Nicholas Lucas, & Braiden Shipp; many nieces & nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 1, 2014, 2:00 PM, at Narroway Baptist Church, with Reverend Todd Tibbitts & Reverend Hershel Tibbitts officiating. Interment will follow at Narroway Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be, John Henderson, David Black, Joey Tibbitts, Steve Golden, Lee Proctor, and Rudy Echols. Visitation will be Sunday, November 30, 2014, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Clark Funeral Home.

 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Narroway Baptist Church Memorial Fund, in memory of John S. Shipp III or the First United Methodist Church of Dallas Building Fund.
