Larry C. Rakestraw, age 65, of Hiram, GA, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2014. He was born on July 13, 1949 in Dallas, GA, and was preceded in death by his father, CB (Whitey) Rakestraw, and brother Jackie Rakestraw. Larry carried on his father’s tradition as a builder and he was an avid deer hunter. Larry C. was a beloved father and grandfather.

 

Survivors include his mother, Clay Lee Rakestraw of Hiram, GA; son, Scott Rakestraw of Hiram, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Amanda & Powell Jones of Smyrna, GA, and Tori & Ryan Brumlow of Roswell, GA, and; brother, Ricky Rakestraw of Hiram, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Wanda & Joe Mitchell of Hiram, GA, and Sheila & Lee Burnup of Byrdstown, TN; granddaughter, Emily Rakestraw of Hiram, GA, and many nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2014, at 3:00 PM, from Clark Funeral Home, with Reverend Lamar Rackley officiating. Interment will follow in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Tom Duba, Jay Fletcher, Billy Rainey, Alan Bullock, Mike Gordon and Ken Ferguson will serve as pallbearers. Gene Thomason and Carlton Rakestraw will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, November 22, 2014, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
