Mrs. Jean Craton Silbaugh, age 82, of Dallas, GA, died Saturday morning, August 23, 2014, at her residence.

 

A native of Paulding County, Jean was born on June 13, 1932, the daughter of the late Rev. John Phillip Craton and Irma Lee Gurley Craton. She had been a resident of Dallas and Paulding County for most of her life. Jean was a school teacher for over 31 years, retiring in 1994 from Douglas County Schools. She had served as Superintendent of Schools for Paulding County from 1980 until 1984. For a number of years Jean taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church of Dallas where she was a member. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by a brother, John Craton, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Bonnie Pearson.

 

Jean is survived by her husband, Larry Silbaugh; a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Keith Cochran of Dallas; two grandchildren, Phillip and Aaron Cochran; a brother and sisters-in-law, Al and Brenda Craton, and Linda Craton, all of Dallas. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends also survive.

 

A memorial service to honor the life of Jean Craton Silbaugh will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home with Rev. Alton Wilson and Mr. Derrick Craton officiating.

 

The family will receive friends on Tuesday at the funeral home from 1:30 until 2:00 p.m.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice in honor of Jean.

 

The staff of Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Jean Craton Silbaugh.
