I feel really, really, really, sad for you to take the bait that the board of commissioners threw out about Delta.... First the BoC and the PCAA made a stupid, silly uncalculated decision to compete with the City of Atlanta and Hartsfield Jackson Airport for about a million of their yearly customers.

Do you really think that Paulding County with revenues of about $50 million can compete with these two entities for those estimated one million passengers they are attempting to take from them? BB that is big bucks that the City and HJ are fighting for.

Delta has a win, win either way...I cannot see where it would be one iota of difference if Delta flew out of SCF or HJ, you can rest assured that Delta will compete with anyone that flys out of Silver Comet Field. of course Pubby David and some others would have you believe that Delta is the culprit.

It really makes no difference who is paying the attorneys fees. the bottom line when all of this is said and done can we compete with the City of Atlanta, Hartsfield Jackson, and all the other airlines flying out of Atlanta.

I maintain it was a silly stupid decision to think we could, It would take at least another $100 million of investing to even come close.

Since you are pro airport I am sure that your group are privy to the business plan that the PCAAA and Silver Comet Partners LLC has laid out? Will you share that with the readers??

You know there has been NO PR on this partnership.

I wonder if there had been citizen input early on.

I wonder if a business plan had been presented.

I wonder if big pictures of the terminal & Industrial MRO buildings had been publicized.

If that plan showed environmental studies that assured the neighbors had no concerns.

If that plan assured the neighbors of no risk due to possible property value losses.

And if that plan had showed a solid money flow.

I don't think we would be where we find ourselves at now.

Back in October I forecast "Trust us, we will tell you what we want you to know, when we want you to know it".

Today we only know what we have heard during court proceedings.

This week we heard some of the testamony we heard in earlier proceedings is not what actually happened.

We've got ourselves a royal mess.

I am simply trying to defend my fellow Paulding County citizens. Think what you want - I know where my heart is. :).

Where did you get that I implied in anyway how many citizens feel one way or the other. But since you bring it up, we've not had a referendum in recent years, so no one knows how many people are for or against. I'm one, I've got my opinion, and my opinion is we have a mess and I think somewhere there is someone who can come up with a plan that is acceptable to the majority. Maybe that plan is a referendum.

Now let me be clear. If down the road if the FAA approves Commercial Air Service and once all the court cases are over if we have Commercial Air Service I will totally support it. If there is ever a plan to protect the neighbors and move the financial risk from the taxpayers to an operator I might be swayed. Until then I totally support Industrial MRO development and I oppose Commercial Air Service. That's my vote.

I will be glad to explain. Who is funding this litigation plays a tremendous role as to this case. And the fact that YOU say that Delta has "big pockets" and is in a win win situation speaks volumes. Are we as Paulding County citizens supposed to be intimidated by this?

Not trying to intimidate anyone, Only trying to have a civil discussion, which I thought was going nicely.

I hope that no one on the PCAA or the BOC is of the opinion that the city of Atlanta and Hartsfield Jackson airport is going to just roll over and allow SCF to take a million customers a year from them without one hell of a fight.

I seriously question that Paulding County has the revenue to fight these two entities, maybe you know something that I don't know?

I have not said that Delta has "big pockets" in this post, maybe some where else but not here. I did say that Delta would compete for the million passengers and I really believe that they would here at SCF, why wouldn't they?

Delta, Atlanta, And Hartsfield Jackson are all three going to compete for the Million passengers, It would be silly and stupid to think otherwise.

Delta is in a win win situation they can fly out of and compete out of either airport why would it make any difference to them.

David Austin has convinced a large number of people that Delta is behind this, I AM NOT SO SURE HE IS CORRECT. The City of Atlanta and Hartsfield Jackson has the most to lose as I see it.

But ........... What difference does it make either way we are in competition with all three for the million projected passengers, And Paulding County is going to lose either way it goes.

If we fail to get the million passengers then the entire deal is a bust and we thrown another $40to $ 50 million in the money pit

If we get the million then we will have to expand the airport several more times and we will soon be like Clayton County Georgia with all the crime, Gangs, Traffic congestion, Marta, And all the other things that goes with another airport like Hartsfield Jackson

I came to my "qualified conclusion" at the part where YOU said , it doesn't matter who is paying the attorney's fees. I don't want Delta running our county and dictating what we should or should not do and I would hope that anybody in their right mind would have a problem with this.

Again, we elected our BOC to do a job. The airport is here and they are simply trying to utilize it to its fullest potential. They are not doing this for them or their friends. They are doing this for the overall good of our community and it's citizens.

Maybe if some of you would open your minds and realize that everything in the world doesn't revolve around a conspiracy theory, we could actually get some worthwhile things accomplished.

I can honestly say that I have Whitey. At the beginning and throughout this airport fiasco. I have weighed the pros and cons. I have even taken the time out to discuss this issue with disinterested third parties. I have researched, I have spoken to many people in our community. I have spoken to people that live in the area of the airport. Thus my multiple reasons for supporting the airport expansion.

Here's what I said in an earlier post "To me who is paying is a non-issue. I have been very impressed with how Mr. McKnight handles himself in the courtroom. I am sure the 6 plaintiffs are enduring great personal expense just missing work. To me it's their business who represents them..."

Yes we elected them and they appointed the members of the PCAA & IBA. We expect them to make responsible decisions and represent us well. We heard testamony this week when asked why they started the work before securing funding the answer was "we never had a problem before". I read that as "we always start work before securing financing". That will get you fired in the real world. Plus they signed an agreement where we pay for the improvements and get 2-1/2% of the gross plus $700 a month for 5 years. You got a copy of the lease? If not, I will bring you a copy. Have you read 70% of airports are not profitable? Have you read the number of airport jobs are declining? Have you followed Mid America Airport? Give me something positive to read... Please.

I'm open to hear a business plan. A business plan and protection of the neighbors most likely would sway me. You got any current data to share with me?

In all the discussion that you have had have you seen the business model, or any plans that has not been made available to the general public for you to form this opinion.

Have you seen the business plan developed by the PCAA?

No I haven't but you know what? I don't need to see them - I don't personally have the experience and expertise to thoroughly and adequately examine each and every decision they make. That is what we are paying our BOC for. I can always voice my opinions and I do so often; however, at the end of the day, I have my own job to manage and my own life.

Me personally- I am not willing to sacrifice my time and effort to run and serve in office. I am not willing to give up my personal time, attend numerous functions each week, take numerous phone calls each and every day. Thankfully, there are people out there that aren't as selfish as I am. :)

Whitey, you asked about how the "other side" gained so many "Likes" so fast.

Actually they are inexpensive, just pick how many you want.

http://cheap-socials.com/buy-facebook-likes/

Maybe Pubby should consider selling Pcom "likes".

Good Lord - do some of you live your lives based on conspiracy theories? I believe the reason so many people have jumped on the Pro Airport expansion train is because they have simply taken the time to research and get their questions and concerns addressed.

I can tell you from personal experience that I have invited numerous people to the Support Silver Comet Airport Facebook page and they have let me know they will need to take the time to research the issue first. A few days later I will get a notification that they have "liked" the page so they must be getting satisfactory answers.

I can honestly say the Stop the Airport Expansion FB page has not spent one penny to "promote" or "boost" that page, every single like is voluntary, not bought. They just don't have the $$. So much for conspiracy theories and the Delta money pit.

Do you think they should have a business plan?

If you agree that they should have a business plan do you agree that it should be available to the public through the freedom of information act?

OK! Ya'll have been on here now for MONTHS claiming DELTA has NO part in this lawsuit...Well it appears your OWN Media darling KELLY YAMANOUCHI from the AJC knows that is CRAP. She had a recent article in the AJC that read in part:

...No longer is the opposition limited to a ragtag handful of local residents. Joining the fight are at least four heavy-hitting law firms. So far, those firms combined have filed three lawsuits; submitted open records requests for piles of documents; taken depositions from airport and county officials; and started a website and a nonprofit 501©(4) -- a "social welfare" classification that includes issue advocacy groups...

She goes on to say:

...Delta already has been a client for at least three of the four firms, which are known for their corporate and political ties. Several weeks ago, McKenna Long & Aldridge attorney Stefan Passantino formed a nonprofit group called Committee to Protect Paulding County in opposition to the airport's expansion. Listed as CEO of the nonprofit is Chip Lake, a Republican consultant and former adviser to U.S. Rep. Phil Gingery. The CFO is Rick Thompson, political consultant and former director of the state ethics commission...

...On the morning the airport announced its plans to attract airline flights, Delta chief executive Richard Anderson came out swinging. With the city of Atlanta and Mayor Kasim Reed, "we will work together to oppose any investment in that facility," Anderson said. "The investment needs to go into Hartsfield-Jackson."...

She then points out how EVEN the DELTA Pilot's Union got involved:

...Delta's pilots union also deployed representatives to a meeting of residents who oppose the commercialization and e-mailed letters urging pilots to contact their elected representatives about their opposition to a second commercial airport in metro Atlanta. "Delta Air Lines is the largest employer in the state, the expansion will raise our cost of doing business, and when Delta sneezes, Georgia gets a cold," the letter from the union to pilots said. Delta pilot Tim Heiple attended the Paulding airport authority meeting Wednesday and said he's concerned it could take away from funding at Hartsfield-Jackson...

So it seems this FINALLY shows where the actual $$$$ are coming from to fund the lawsuits and cost the residents and taxpayers of Paulding County unneeded expense to defend. Additionally a HUGE point here is NONE of these folks she list in her article are PAULDING COUNTY RESIDENTS!!! That is important to note and as our County Commissioner David Austin put it:

"I would just say, 'Stay out of Paulding,'" Austin said.

"Don't cost us any more money in courts and lawyers."

Every thing you have posted is old news, been posted here numerous times, been thoroughly discussed both here and on face book, This was one of PUBBY's favorite topics.

You need to get current.

You do know that the last case heard in superior court was filed by the county... And they lost it......... Did I mention that it was a frivolous case....... That funding was available but the county elected not to use the funding available but rather chose to sue?

You really need to get up to date.

Of course a NERVE is being hit!!! The STOP PROGRESS IN PAULDING group thought all they had to do was trot out the same ole' group that always protest ANYTHING and EVERYTHING new in Paulding and that would be it. Then when they realized they were NOT getting any reaction from the other 155,000+ residents of Paulding they went out got DELTA to stick its nose into our Counties business and using DELTA $$$$ filed these frivolous lawsuits!!!

What is so important about who is funding the law suit.... Makes no difference if the PCAA, IBA, and the BOC thought for one minute that the City of Atlanta, Hartsfield Jackson or any of the airlines flying out of the Atlanta Airport were just going to roll over and allow a million customers a year to leave the Atlanta area and come here without competing for the business was a very silly stupid assumption on their part.

Our elite group of people made a decision to compete with the busiest airport in the world, to compete for that business is going to require millions of dollars of infrastructure improvements along with millions of dollars in advertisement and millions of dollars in other areas.

I know the PCAA thinks all they have to do is fly a couple of jets in here load them up and fly to Orlando and go back in a week and pick them up.

The PCAA has not even thought out the basic issues and addressed them..... for instance two flights a day equal 300 passengers, Got any idea where they are going to park the cars for a week. There are only about 150 parking places in the entire terminal area. You see basic needs have not been thought out.....Have you seen a business plan.... Will you share it with me?

AND if YOU would think this thru, this opens up just ONE of the business opportunities the Airport will generate...A Private owned Parking facility would be a NORMAL business to have spring up around ANY airport...

I try to treat others the way that I myself want to be treated; however, I simply fall short sometimes. I do have the ability to realize that though. :)

Not really you and I go way back, I have always been on the opposite side of a debate with you..... I have always tried to save the tax payers money, and sometimes you have come down on the side of spending more tax dollars.

This discussion is old hat with you and I. I could of wrote your response verbatim.

I will be most happy to take a vote on this issue anytime your group desires.

BB,

We elected our BOC to do a job based on their campaign promises. They ran on platforms of open transparency, and then did the secret airport deal. That is NOT open and transparent.

They refuse to release even the basics of how this deal is going to make money, and tell us it if for our own best interests. But to date, virtually every promise made concerning this airport has turned out to be a lie.

Why won't they publish a detailed report on what has been spent to date ?

And what has the FAA paid us back for ?

Where, and how, is our 2-1/2% of the gross going to pay back $40,000,000? Do your math. They will have to generate $1.6BILLION in gross revenue in order to pay back the $40Million Blake Swafford had in his 5 year plan.

You REALLY think Silver Comet Field will generate that kind of money ? And that is not including interest. Just principle.

We elected our BOC to do a job, based on their campaign platforms.

Please show me anything from the BoC candidates in 2010 or 2012 where there was support for commercializing our airport.

AND if YOU would think this thru, this opens up just ONE of the business opportunities the Airport will generate...A Private owned Parking facility would be a NORMAL business to have spring up around ANY airport...

BUT BUT where are the plans for the parking lot heck we were suppose to be boarding planes in February

"We elected our BOC to do a job, based on their campaign platforms."

NO...We actually VOTED for and these folks were elected to do the job BASED ON THEIR ABILITIES, and QUALIFICATIONS!! Many times issues change and opportunities open themselves up that may not have been there 6 months or a year or more ago. The folks handling our County business have to be able to revisit opportunity and make decisions based on their knowledge and ability to do so. Most of these folks are business owners and have learned thru the years how to do this...again I don't think it would matter how they handled things to the STOP ALL PROGRESS IN PAULDING group.

at 2-1/2% for the gross, thats $1.6Billion they have to gross to pay pack the principlbe.

Wouldn't it make much better sense to build nice rentable buildings in the new Commerce Park and some of the other parks to bring businesses here ?

Show me a Plan, that adds up, and maybe we can discuss it then.

As I have NOTHING to do with the design of the Airport (any more than your group) I obviously don't have it BUT the last AA meeting showed a VERY detailed 5 year plan for the Airport and with plenty of surrounding land a spot can easily be made for parking.

By the way...Where there is "SMOKE" there is a FIRE and your groups FRIVOLOUS LAWSUIT has lit a FIRE under the other 155,000+ County residents!!!!

You keep calling these lawsuits frivolous, the judge didn't think so on Wednesday. If he did, the citizens would have to post a million dollar bond.

Yes DELTA would have had to post a bond...it is called a “supersedeas bond,” commonly referred to simply as an “appeal bond.” It is a requirement of the federal courts and every state court. Though the specific requirements

vary widely, every jurisdiction normally requires the defendant to post some form of bond in order to appeal an adverse judgment and stay the plaintiff’s execution of that judgment.

That the Judge ruled against having a bond posted for this next step is interesting to say the least but I think after hearing from both sides he simply saw the rapid resolution that is going to occur in the counties favor once the FAA signs off shortly and he was avoiding any appearance of impropriety.

No,this is wrong.

David was elected because King Jerry snuck the airport and the courthouse in without taxpayer approval.Jerry was fired,David has not studied local political history so he is doomed to repeat.

But Jerry did try to warn us that David was a developer.

I know that... I am just trying to let the readers know what he is doing, I normally do not bother with trolls like him,,, But if that is the best the pro airport group can put out there it is what it is.
