Just found out about schools

Recommended Posts

If I am not mistaken, if 3 or 5 days are missed, then no days will have to be made up, or I may have that backwards lol maybe someone who is updated on the school missed days will pop in

With the school buses being on the road, taking kids home, do exercise consideration, patience, and caution, with the buses, more so than usual.

The roads in Yorkville are completely covered with a fine layer of snow. They are getting very slick. It's 19 degrees.

Yup. And when there aren't buses on the road, continue driving like an a$$hat.

Seriously?

I knew this would happen

I picked mine up. I knew it was going to get bad. The roads are really getting slick, and the more we drive on them,

the worse they will get.

Middle and High will dismiss at 12:00, elementary at 12:45.

Coweta is closed today. They let us know last night. Snowing like crazy now. What is it doing in Paulding?

From the Paulding County Sheriff's Office, via their FB Page: Road conditions in Paulding County are treacherous, please drive extremely slow and if you do not have to get on the roads, stay home please.

They should have listened to the warnings that has been given out by the weather and the sheriffs office

But---then folks would have been complaining becasue they shut down too early. Just like they did with the cold a few weeks ago.

Girl child called and her work is closing early.

Soon as all the kids are safely picked up from the daycare, Papi will go pick her up.

She's worried to drive. Said lots of folks sliding in the parking lot.

She works at that day care in front of Greystone subdivision on Bill Carruth.

Papi on his way home now. They shut down early too.

Me....well....no snow day for me...... :(

You can bet your butt that the schools will close from now on if there is the slightest threat of winter weather. And if anyone gripes about it they should be slapped.

That's what I said in another thread, damned if they do/damned if they don't.

Bet they don't make this mistake again.

The grandbabies went to school, middleschooler is sick with 2 ear infections and a sinus infection so he stayed home. I went to Target on 120 this morning with 4 year old grandson and it was doing NOTHING when we went in, but 30 minutes later was a totally different story. Not because of traffic, but because of frozen and snowy roads, it took me an hour and 55 minutes to get home to Old Cartersville rd. Luckily, he fell asleep because he tends to talk and talk and talk and talk when we're in the car and I'm not sure I would have made it having to deal with that too. I was stunned at how quickly it got sooo bad.

We made it to East Paulding drive and it really got bad. There was no ground to be seen and the windshield wipers had so much ice on them, they weren't clearing the windshield and I couldn't see. I had to pull over and clear the wipers and rejoin the road. I will say that with the exception of one GIANT A$$HAT acting a fool, every car I saw was doing their very best to be safe, keeping several car lengths between each car, literally going 10mph down 120 and EP drive, etc. I realized pretty quickly that they key to driving in this was to keep the wheels turning and not to stop completely and if you do have to stop, lightly tap the brakes. I lost traction for about 2 seconds and that was plenty of excitement for me.

And as far as this fiasco of buses and stranded kids go, it's unacceptable. The roads were impassable before 1 o'clock when elementary schools let out. My daughter had gotten the babies at 11:30 and there was a wreck on the hill at the entrance of Abney then. Either schools should have been closed or they should have closed much earlier, make up days be damned. If everyone including the bus drivers, teachers and kids get home safely without something catastrophic happening, it will be a miracle.

Hubby may not be home for several days, but so far, aside from wrecks causing outages, the lines where is are holding up. FINGERS CROSSED.

And, the first time some one gripes about having to make up days during February break needs to be slapped too.
