There has been a recent class action settlement concerning some NVIDIA chips that were used in HP, Compaq, Dell & Apple Laptops. There are alot of different models involved so I'm sure this will be applicable to some in the pcom community. You can see if this applies to your laptop here: https://roscomps3.se...checkmodels.php

A story about the issue is here: http://news.cnet.com...g=2547-1_3-0-20

Has anyone found that they have one of the computers that this applies to?

Mine doesn't appear to be affected. I have a CQ-61.

I think I had a HP that was affected but it became a door stop in 2007 and I ended up giving it away to one of the local geeks. That probably puts me SOL.

If it became a doorstop because of this issue, I think you are still entitled to the settlement. I did not read what the settlement is, but your should at least be able to buy a cup of coffee with it.
