AGAIN, if you took the time to learn the whole story and the real truth you would be so ashamed of your judgmentalism.....

First of all, I lack enough voyeuristic qualities to need to know the whole story and the "real truth".

There was nothing judgmental in my statement that you quoted therefore nothing to be ashamed of. The only judgements I make on Mr. Stout are events that occurred in 2010.

In addition, if YOU had taken the time to know what part of the quote I was referring to YOU would realize that the rest of the state's perception is their reality and the "whole story" doesn't really matter. Bottom line is Mr. Stout made Paulding County a laughing stock.

If he is re-elected it won't be Mr. Stout that is making us look like a bunch of toothless hillbillies. You can blame it on the voters. To be more specific, the voters that are influenced by organizations such as the Right to Life.

But also bear in mind, as distasteful as it may seem to many of the diehard GOP fans on this site, you do have a reasonable moderate Democratic candidate running in November.

And don't take my word for it. Contact Will Avery and meet with him for a few minutes. He is a breath of fresh air and may fill the bill for many voters over Stout or Braddock/Rakestraw.

Dude, as a voter it is our job to be judgmental. This isn't church, but I understand how y'all might not understand that difference. And we know the whole story. There are conservative honest candidates without a sordid past of any kind, and it isn't our job to forgive your parishioner's transgression.

Really? Is that why he got the majority of the Paulding County vote? I am so proud of him and regardless of the narrow minded opinions that you have, he has stood his ground at the capitol and gone against the majority when he knew what this county wanted him to do. Daniel Stout will continue to prove to you and everyone else that doubts him that he is qualified for this position of leadership and called of God to be there. By the way, the whole world laughed at a man named Noah, and we all know how that turned out for them.....

first of all I am not a dude and I am not a preacher.....and if you are still making noise about a situation you are ignorant about that happened over 10 years ago when someone was a teenager, then you DO NOT know the whole story.....no, this isnt church but I would still like to believe that human beings can respect and understand one another outside church.....and I don't care who you think you are or anyone else is...there is no one without a past

Oh hell! She pulled the God card now. I guess we all have no choice but to go vote for Daniel lest we all burn in hell.

Psst! Mr. Stout is no Noah.

He got the majority of nothing! That's why WE are having a runoff.

I shouldn't have used the word majority....but he did get MORE votes than the other two candidates. And I DO NOT believe that anyone will burn in hell if they do not vote for Daniel.....grow up....and quit putting words in my mouth. I was not implying that Daniel is a Noah, just using that example to show that we shouldn't always be so concerned with what people think of us....look closer I know it is difficult for you....I was comparing people laughing at our COUNTY like they laughed at Noah.....the only thing in common is that sometimes you do what is right regardless of what others think....somewhat like I am having to do with you

I joined paulding.com expecting to reach out and meet others in my community....I am now only hoping that the few people on here the most are not representative of the majority of people in my community. I am open minded enough to accept that everyone has their own opinions and views but I have been attacked and belittled for every post I have put on here. I don't know what has happened to the few of you in your lives to make you such miserable hateful people but I pity you too much to be mad with you. I can only hope and pray(forgive me for playing the "God" card) that somehow you will find happiness and learn to see the good in others. I hope you can become more optimistic and enjoy life, finding something to do other that gossiping and criticizing others....I am out....you all are too toxic for me...I have a good life and refuse to stoop to your level....many prayers!

I haven't attacked or belittled you. However, (just in this topic, I won't pull the others) you have referred to me directly as "narrow minded", "judgmental" (more than once), stated by comments were "ignorant", and accused me of not finding the "whole story". And I'm the "miserable hateful", gossip, critical and unhappy one? I'd explain that I'm not a miserable, hateful, critic and a gossip, but I'd hate to deny you to opportunity to pity me.

And while I could get mad at you for all of your name calling and gossiping about me, I won't. But I will remind you that Mr. Stout is a public figure now and opened his life up to this scrutiny of his own choosing. He went into this with this eyes wide open. It appears that it's the voters who have blinders.

Look lady, I didn't care for Mr. Stout BEFORE the incest thingy. Honestly, I couldn't care less who (or would it be whom) he screws as long as I don't allow him to be in a position to screw me. And I plan to work hard to keep that from happening.

PS: Good is relative (and I'm not talking about incest in this instance). What is good for you and your beliefs isn't necessarily good for everyone else. The problem with you people that do everything according to your religion is that you push your crap on everyone and you have little respect for anyone but yourselves.

PSS: The only way I can put words in your mouth is if you don't shut it. ;)

Well said, but I am afraid that you are wasting your breath. Some folks can't separate the physical from the spiritual or belief from knowledge. Some will see a well thought out statement of fact or opinion as an affront to those beliefs and therefore worthy of smite rather than discussion.

I for one know that you are probably the most open minded person on this board. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and whether you and I agree or disagree, I know that your opinion comes from a position of thought and consideration of fact. You have changed my opinion on occasion. (Don't bookmark that last sentence because I will roundly dismiss it as a forgery in the future) B) .

Danna,

Some advise here. Don't jump off the porch unless you are prepared to run with the big dogs.

Daniel campaigned last winter with his Religion, Christian Values, Family, and TRANSPARENCY as his core platform, along with holding down taxes, etc.

There was substantial banter about the special election on p.com, and many readers were early voters.

The Thursday or Friday, as I recall, before the election, the skeletons fell out of the closet, showing Mr Stout to be a bit less than transparent, and throwing a rather large wrench into the gears of his campagin platform as far as family values, etc.

Yes, yes, yes, we all know he was a young impetuous buck at the time of the "deed", but none the less, he did not fess up and be truthful about a rather blatant "Non-Family Values" event which led to a divorce with a child involved no less. Yes, that is in the past and he has repented and redeemed himself ten-fold since then.

Now had he come out 3 weeks before the election, while spouting his beliefs and values, and add, "Oh, by the way.....I had a bit of an indiscretion in my younger years.........", then I would bet all would have pretty much have been forgiven and forgotten by those who accepted the rest of his politics. But the manner in which the past indiscretion went public, left quite a bit to be desired. And many who had already voted for him I think felt betrayed, big time.

Now I am in a rather major conundrum with this run-off. I am quite familiar with Ms Braddock, and her less than stellar performance with the BOE, as a businessperson, and as a member of the community. I am also well aware of various property "deals" she has had with our illustrious ex-commission chairman King Jerry and his partner Stan Stephens. If you get your e-shovel and start digging into the deeds on the various tracts and parcels of land to the east of and adjacent to the BOE Administration building as well as some across the street you will find several nuggets which include deeds with Paulette Rakestraw on them. Note that Stand Stephens bought the land, including the BOE Admin land from Regions bank out of a foreclosure. Sold part to the BOE, and then was preparing to develop the rest.

If the Civic Center bond referendum had gone through, you can bet the adjacent land is where it would have been built. Instead the BOE got part and the rest is available. That property is graded and ready to develop now.

What I am getting at is I see Paulette as King Jerry's political cartel's 2nd choice, and maybe even she was the first choice, in the district 19 seat.

There is no way I can support, or even consider voting for anyone in anyway tied or connected to Shearin and the Paulding GOP nutcase group. They are out for revenge at losing the chairmans seat and Echols seat 2 years ago and they are desperate to keep their foot in the door with Paulding politics and need to be escorted out of the building permanently. Exiled would be a better solution.

However, I am not enamored with Mr Stout, primarily because he feels compelled to base so much of his campaign on Religion, and like Feelip said, "Don't like beer in my cheerios or religion in my politics", and I feel very much the same way. I also feel RTL has no place in local or State politics. SCOTUS spoke with Roe v Wade, and has upheld that decision over and over again and that will not be chaning anytime soon, so drop it and move on. There are far bigger fish to fry.

But between the 2, I will have to lean towards Mr Stout. and I do so with many reservations.

But if he intends to win the runnoff, he had best start hitting the pavement and making appearances on p.com. Take the licks he will get, gently brush them off, make amends, and try to move forward. It will not be easy, and may not be very pretty as there are a couple of p.comers who are going to come after him with an ax handle intending to whoop the tar out of him for hoodwinking them las winter.

Thanks Surepip. Excellent post on why so many people feel that this is a real issue. Had he campaigned primarily on something other that his Jesus credentials, and had folks other than his fellow parishioners and RTL faithful beating the bushes for him and financing his campaign, then this wouldn't have smacked so much of a sucker job.

When you hold yourself up as holy man of God and a strong family values candidate, that had better be the entire truth or you had better be prepared to be taken down a few notches.

I appreciate the advice and I understand your feelings on how some things about Daniel came out. Perhaps it would have been better if he had set things straight earlier. It is just hard for me because I happen to know more details about that "indiscretion" and I hate hearing false rumors fly about it. But maybe that is his fault and hopefully he will make a more transparent statement about that and the other issues soon. It may not matter, but this indiscretion was not a sexual one...no incest or physical involvement. It also involved a much older woman who should have used better judgment and Daniel at a young age had to be the grown up and stop a dangerous situation before it went too far. Still, Daniel confessed and repented for any part he had in this in order to strengthen his relationship with God. It is also important to know that he and his first wife ended on peaceful terms in a mutual agreement and Daniel has been an outstanding father to his daughter having joint custody and being very involved in her life. He has partly hesitated to be too forthcoming about this issue because of how it would affect her and also not wanting to damage her grandmothers reputation. I admire him for that. I am sorry if I have offended you or anyone else and I truly hope that you all will give me the chance to communicate with you all in spite of our different views. Thank you

Thank you

So who leaked this information? And honestly, I really don't think anyone should be expected to come clean about every little thing they have done in their life. It starts to get really silly. Bill Clinton and his "I smoked pot but I didn't inhale". Heck, if I was going to admit to smoking pot I would at least have a good story to tell.

But I have been scratching my head wondering just who would tell something like this. Obviously it was someone who was trusted with the info at some point.

I still won't be voting for Daniel but I will be decent. I'll be decent if you won't try to Jesus me. ;)

I am truly sorry for anything I have said that has hurt you....I have gotten too involved in all this and reacted badly....I just want to talk with people and have my viewpoints at least respected even if they are disagreed with.....and I should do the same. I hope I can continue to communicate with you and I will refrain from negativity and making opinions too personal. I sincerely apologize...

That was very gracious, apology sincerely accepted and returned.

I hate to break it to you Dear, but Daniel was only a House Rep. for about 19 days total (days in session) and he still managed to miss 45 votes, of which, only 19 were missed on the infamous "day off for bank audit". (A job that he has now quit, as I understand it). Anyway, I also have it on good authority that some of the other votes he missed were because he was taking 3 hours lunches and playing nintendo in his office. I don't think that falls into the category of "doing what Paulding county wants". We need a mature Representative that will actually show up for work. God willing, we will get one.

Since you came on here and trashed Steve Golden to backdoor the promotion of your candidate I think I will pass on the validity of your comments. If you think I am ticked you would be correct!!!

In an effort to dispel any "false" rumors, the following is a statement made by and confirmed by Mr. and Mrs. Stout themselves in response to these allegations. Any falsehoods or "misleading statements" contained herein are the responsibility of the candidate himself, not anybody trying to "spread false rumors". Danna672, I am the one that first posted these statements here on Pcom, and I intentionally chose not to publish any of the allegations, only the response to make it perfectly clear that I was in no way attempting to mislead anyone. You may ask Daniel if he made the following statement if you do not believe me. I showed you mine, now you show me yours. You want truth, well here it is in quotation marks.

Daniel Stout says:

"Kelly and I wanted to respond together to a question about a painful past event that someone has recently raised during this election.

Ten years ago I committed adultery that led to a divorce from my first wife. I own the reality of the pain I caused to my first wife, my daughter and others. This humbling experience changed my life dramatically.

I have asked for and received forgiveness from my first wife, my daughter, my family, my friends, my church, my community and, most importantly, God.

I met my current wife, Kelly, four years later. We were completely open with one another, and we discussed all this as soon as we began dating. We got married in 2005, and God’s loving forgiveness for us has been a constant theme of our relationship. The Lord has blessed us with a wonderful marriage, and through God’s strength we remain faithful to one another.

Of course, we knew when I announced for the House seat that belongs to the people of Paulding County that this and all matters of our lives would be open to the public. We believe in total transparency, even in matters of past sins anyone would rather forget.

We will always be open with our lives, and we invite you to call us if you would like to talk to either of us:

Daniel: 770-xxx-xxxx.

Kelly: 678-xxx-xxxx

Sincerely,

Daniel and Kelly Stout"

"Kelly Stout says:

Dear Friends,

I am writing to dispel any concerns that you might have regarding an indiscretion committed by my husband, Daniel Stout, ten years ago. Daniel has never attempted to hide the fact that he committed a terrible sin in his first marriage.

I would like to make some things perfectly clear regarding that situation and how things stand with Daniel now. Daniel publically confessed this sin with deepest repentance to his first wife, his family and in front of the church he was a member of at the time. Daniel’s first wife forgave him. Daniel’s family forgave him. In addition, his church forgave him.

Daniel was completely up front with me about this event as soon as we began dating. As his wife for going on 5 years, I have never had any doubt about his fidelity in our marriage and his commitment to remain completely faithful to me.

It is clear to me that my husband has been humbled and brought closer to the Lord by his past. I am proud of Daniel and the man he is before the Lord. I am completely convinced that he can represent Paulding County’s 19th District with the utmost integrity."

Sincerely, Kelly Stout

678-xxx-xxxx

I have not trashed Mr. Golden. The "true colors" article was written by STOUT'S friend, Ron Davis. I think it reflected badly on them and no one else, because it was so obviously biased. I think most people would agree with that. Furthermore, Stout's surrogates also started the rumors about the disgruntled homeowners. Your anger is directed in the wrong place.

YOU posted the article here. It is quite obvious why. The information was placed so folks here would see it and you hoped it would reflect badly on Golden and Stout and in favor of Braddock. I just feel suckered to have jumped to the conclusion that a Stout supporter did it. I won't make a mistake like that again.

It would be great to leave this whole SOAP OPERA behind and get to the business of finding a servant for the people, wouldn't it? I know no one is perfect but this has an uncomfortable level of "creepy" factor in it for me. Sorry, but it's too much info.

I don't know anyone who read it who didn't think it was a biased joke, planted by a Stout surrogate. Give the PC folks some credit...

I have already stated that I will not put any faith in what you have to say and as for giving the PC folks credit, keep in mind that Kathy Cox won Paulding County and she wasn't even running.
